No longer works on Steam Deck because of kernel level anti-cheat being added to a 10 year old game. EDIT: Looks like singleplayer content is still accessible if you shut off your Deck's wifi connection before launching the game, and then turning it back on after launch. Letting the negative review stand until the devs patch out the check before you even access online content. EDIT 2: The launch command below will bypass the checker entirely and allow you to boot into the game without having to swap to airplane mode(but online play will still be inaccessible): bash -c 'exec "${@/START.exe/bin\/DBXV2.exe}"' -- %command%Show moreShow less
A month ago I was diagnosed with a terminal illness and the doctors have given me a year at best. I'm so glad I was able to play this game before I go. I don't know how many people will see this but I recommend you to play this game if you see it.Show moreShow less
Don't get me wrong; Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a joy of a game, especially if you're a Dragon Ball fan. The gameplay can be fun with friends, the story is a treat to see the first time around, and it is fun to have your own Dragon Ball character. The game feels smooth to play, it looks fine graphically, and unlike the first game there are no major gameplay issues that make me want to yank my hair out in frustration. The problem is the price. This game came out in 2016 and it's still $50. On top of that there's another $118 worth of paid DLC for this game. Yes the devs have released quite a bit of content for free over the years, but that doesn't excuse the fact that the DLC is over double the price of the game. Yes you could always wait for a sale or get it from a third party code selling site, but that doesn't make the problem disappear. If you enjoy Dragon Ball then you'll likely enjoy Xenoverse 2, but there needs to be more pushback against the DLC for this game. Letting this slide by without so much as a word sickens me and I genuinely hope to see this problem rectified in some way. Even if it's just a price cut of the base game. Yes you can just buy the game when it's on a sale or from somewhere like CDKeys, but that isn't the point of my complaint. I believe that we need to push back against things like this. Just because you can sometimes get it cheap doesn't mean that it's okay that it is expensive.Show moreShow less

It PAINS me to write this, as I love Dragonball Z games to death. I cannot though, in good concious, recommend this game to anyone but the hardcorest of DBZ fans, and even then I would say wait for a sale if you must. THE GOOD: The core game is great - Tons of moves, tons of characters, 100+ quests. Great voice acting and animations. The moves and abilities you are familiar with are handled really well. Being able to craft your own custom guy and give him the moves you want is just really cool. The maps are really big this time around as well, and the story is interesting enough. THE BAD: So why won't I recommend this game? Because the few flaws it has are really, really bad. There is something up with the netcode of the PC version that literally makes it unplayable online. And this isn't just a few people here and there. It is 75% of the community. At some random point during a PvP or PvE match, the game will just disconnet, wiping out all the time and effort you just put in. This also happens when trying to do the in-game events, like boss raids. People are randomly grouped together into a lobby, and you are almost guaunteed to not make it through the entire match. This alone killed the game's population right away, and the developer won't even aknoweldge it. Next up would be the cheaters. Every game has a few, but this game is RIFE with them. Again, it's because the developer doesn't really give a crap. I would say a good 40% of the matches I attempt online has someone speed hacking, or stealing experience from people. It will never change until the game is completely 100% done, again, because the devs don't care. Then there is the way that events are handled. There is no way to get forwarning of one unless you actually log into the game or hear about it on a random game site. And then, they are almost exclusively held on the weekends, for a very specific 3 hour or so window. From noon till three for example. These events also give rewards that are not obatinable any other way. EDIT: IF you are ONLY buying the game for single player, then yes you will most likely be satisfied. The game is not, however, sold as a standalone single player experience. In fact, it is almost sold as an MMO. Hence, the negative review on my part.Show moreShow less
R.I.P Akira Toriyama I am a huge Dragon Ball fan Pros The DLC's are pretty sick, especially the ones from Dragon Ball Super. The sheer amount of attacks you can unlock to suit your playstyle is awesome. The Parallel Quests are more diverse than the previous game. Fighting mechanics are superb. Better than the first game. The transformations feel balanced and are super cool. The 5-time rifts are a very good addition to this game. The story is better than the 1st game, in my opinion. The online events are pretty cool with neat rewards. The battle music is amazing. Cons The AI is pretty bad, which makes some offline Expert/PQ missions atrocious to do. I wish we could use more character forms from the Budokai Tenkaichi series. TLDR I give this game a 7 out of 10. Buy on sale.Show moreShow less
EDIT They changed it back to 1 year ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Namco pulled a bait-and-switch, the steam store page used to say we will get free updates for a whole year as one if its FEATURES, now it just says we get continued support for ONLY 6 months and there's no longer "FREE" in that feature line! what the hell kind of scammy nonsense is this?! how the hell do they have the balls to do this after the No Man's Sky bs I don't know, I hope they either change back to 1 year support and actually promise they will do that or give a pretty damn good explanation why they pulled a bait-and-switch. But lets be honest here, there's never a good reason to do something like that.Show moreShow less

The game is super fun and any fan of DBZ should buy the base game and have hours of fun, but the reason I am not recommending this game is for 1 reason only, the ridiculously overpriced and underwhelming DLC's. If these publishers gave 2 ♥♥♥♥♥ about fans or customers they would be bundling 2 or 3 of the DLC's into 1 and selling it for the same price. 8 bucks is not worth it for just 2 characters some few moves and lackluster missions that force you to replay them over and over because of the terrible RNG reward system. If you want specific DLC characters, wait for them to go on sale before you buy them. We can not support these kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ business practices and help perpetuate them further. just look at DOA or MK11 or any other modern fighting game, the DLC's far out cost the base games and all they add are characters and costumes that should have been in the games from the start.Show moreShow less
