A board game where the AI can play the game and often win. It's like a magical land of faeries and giant worms.Show moreShow less
I used to be able to play the DLC content with my friends as long as the host of the lobby owned the necessary DLC(s). This is how it works with the physical editions of any board game and this is how it works with many digital adaptations of board games, as well as many digital strategy games in general. But recently the devs decided to no longer allow players to play in lobbies that are using any DLC content that we don't also own, so now I can no longer play this game with my friends unless I pay more than double the price of the base game to catch up on DLC purchases. As a side note, from what I've heard this has apparently happened with other digital Dire Wolf games as well. I understand that the devs need to lock some of the game modes behind the DLCs - I think it's fair that they do so, because they do need to make their money somehow - but this change to also lock custom lobbies just feels like an unnecessary punishment to the players (such as myself) who had been enjoying the way things were before. And unfortunately I'm certain it will serve as a deterrent to at least some prospective buyers, as having to buy multiple DLCs to catch up to the existing playerbase might seem like too big of an investment for people who might be interested in getting started with Dune: Imperium Digital. Regardless, I just want to play the game with my friends in custom lobbies like we used to be able to do previously in this game, and like we're able to do with many other physical and digital strategy games. This is a very good game and I enjoy playing it, but I do not agree with this decision by Dire Wolf and will not support it. If I were able to make this review be marked as "neutral" or "mixed" instead of "negative" I would've done so, but Steam does not provide that functionality as of the time of writing this review so I have no choice but to leave a "negative" review instead. If Dire Wolf reverts this change and allows all players to play DLC content in custom lobbies where the host owns the DLC(s), then I will update this review.Show moreShow less
If you love the physical game, this online version is a beautiful adaptation. 11/10. Never wrote a Steam review; this game is THAT good that I felt compelled.Show moreShow less
This is a good game and I´ve played it a lot. However, YOU ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT BUY THIS GAME anymore, since they removed the possibility of playing ranked games since the release of Dune Imperium Uprising - which is of course an effort to boost the sales of Uprising by making the regular game borderline useless. If you buy this plus expansions now for 40+ euros, all you get to do is play against bots. Yes, there are normal games you can play against real people if they happen to queue the same time as you do, but they will leave the game the instant they realize they are not winning and then you play against bots anyway. So just be warned: if you buy this, you are getting scammed. And you wouldn´t even have a possibility to know it, since DIre Wolf, to my knowledge, haven´t published a single announcement regarding this issue.Show moreShow less
Update edit: They have fixed all of the bugs I mention and more and they have clearly shown that they care about the digital version and want to develop it. Excellent work! Original review: Yes it is a good game and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice mid-heavy board game to get into. I love the solo challenges and events with house rules. The UI is the best board game implementation I have seen. The bots are actually good enough at playing the game. There are some problems though: - Controller support is weak, it is hard to play your intrigue cards and choosing an agent to send to a different space (for example with Kwisatz Haderach) is almost impossible. I play on Steam Deck and sometimes I am forced to use the touch screen to play a card. - Writing in chat is sometimes interrupted by animations. - There are some minor bugs that keep happening, for example turn timer animation keeps on running even after a player ends their turn. - There are some rules inconsistencies like not being able to play intrigue cards when everyone but you passes and not being able play the signet ring card without using the power (sometimes I do not want to draw a card as Paul Atreides). I hope these can be fixed with time and love. I don't know how good Direwolf Digital are at updating their games but I have hope. There seems to be players always online and the game has potential to become even bigger. I am hoping that Rise of Ix will be added soon enough to make the experience even more enjoyable. Better yet, make a digital version of Uprising that is as good as this and I'll buy it instantly. Until then I will happily play this.Show moreShow less
As much as I like this, it has a fatal flaw playing in async mode. I have tried to play probably 20 games with my daughter and only completed about 3. It replaces you with a bot if you don't make a move within a set period of time. If playing with somebody you know, you should be able to control this similar to how BGA deals with it. I have reached out to the developers and they just restate the function and offer no help. I purchased 2 android and a steam copy and now they are useless for my daughter and me...very frustrating!Show moreShow less

I bought Dune Imperium and Rise of Ix and enjoyed playing ranked games. Now that Immortality has come out, I cannot play ranked games anymore. Asking the customers to pay for the Immortality DLC just to be able to play ranked games is a legal notion called blackmail. I cannot believe Dire Wolf treats it's customers this way! I am appalled. I will never pay for content I don't like, need and will never play. I paid for the content I want to play, but am locked out. Shame on you.Show moreShow less

First of all, I LOVE this game, and it pains me to have to give it a negative review. This digital version is nearly perfect, except for the multiplayer turn timer. It sucks. You only have 90 seconds to take your turn. Now, that may be enough for the pros who know this game like the back of their hand. But it is not enough for us newbies who haven't played this game hundreds of times. And especially with the addition of the excellent "Rise of Ix" expansion, we need more time to take our turns. There are a lot of options to think about. All the developers need to do is give us turn timer options, 90 seconds, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, unlimited time for those who want it, etc. Simple. Yet, they continue to ignore this issue even with quite a few posts about it on the discussion boards. Once they add more turn timer options I will change my review to positive. Until then, it's hard to enjoy multiplayer games for a newbie like me.Show moreShow less
