I really loved this game and had a lot of fun with it. Beyond ridiculous I cannot give this game a recommendation... The issue? Well, the Steam version ruins the game completely. By this I mean, and this is a spoiler you NEED to hear! Once you kill the Last Ending Boss the game immediately cuts to the Main menu!?!? Your supposed to be able to look at your loot, watch the ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then have the option to move some of your characters to multiplayer.... you get non of that! I just spent over 30 hours on a game just to have the ending robbed from me! Looked this up on google this problem has been since it was put on Steam and they never fixed it, its been years!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF If your going to buy this, buy the actual disc, Im beginning to think steam is not the way to go for old PC games as I have had other issues with some other pc originals from the early 2000s as well.Show moreShow less
This game holds a special place in my heart. it was a game my dad and I played a lot, and I kept playing even after he beat it. Hundreds of hours, put self imposed limitations to challenge myself and then I finally put it away. When my dad passed away, I came back to it as it's some of my most cherished memories. I lost the discs when I moved, and finding it on Steam is going to allow me to play through with my son. Even if he doesn't hold it as dear as I do in the end, I want to show him something his grandfather and I bonded over.Show moreShow less
Good game, definatly a classic but alas steam letdown, multiplayer is disabled, and Legends of Aranna Expansion Pack is no where in sight. This will fix some of the issues http://steamcommunity.com//sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=384309700 thx to the author for the guide.Show moreShow less

To play in 1080p and enable multiplayer, vsync Right click on Dungeon Siege in your steam library, select properties, set launch options width=1920 height=1080 fullscreen=true vsync=true nointro=true bltonly=true zonematch=true *need to be on a LAN or hamachi or VLAN for network button to work *hit ok when it says resolution not supported joining gameShow moreShow less
Dungeon Siege is perhaps one of the absolute best ARPGs of all time. The leveling system it employs (skills level up through use, not through arbitrary point assignment) is eclipsed only by the masterful system designed for the venerated Ultima Online. The UI was revolutionary for the time, allowing the player to use only the mouse to play the entire game. Dungeon Siege is a masterwork from top to bottom. So, why can I not recommend it? The Steam version includes only half the game! Dungeon Siege shipped with two complete games: the single player campaign and the multiplayer campaign. The multiplayer campaign is completely missing. To be certain, the Gamespy multiplayer servers are long gone, but LAN multiplayer is still a viability. Heck, it's even possible to play the multiplayer campaign solo (and to be brutally honest, I prefer the multiplayer campaign). If you're interested in this masterpiece, do yourself the favor of finding a physical copy online, and spend the five minutes of search engine research necessary to find out how to get it to run on modern OSes. THEN you can experience this amazing game as it was meant to be played.Show moreShow less
Dungeon Siege was one of my favourite games growing up. This is a Diablo like dungeon crawler, action RPG hack and slash. You start out with one character, which you create yourself in classic RPG fashion, and set out on your journey. Along the linear path, you meet you adventures who will join your party, by the end of the game you will have up to eight different party members, and there are three different classes which your characters can take the role of, melee, range and mage. I found the melee and range characters levelled up a lot quicker than the mage but it didn't seem to make that much difference in the grand scheme of things. You can really get into micromanaging your party once you get a couple of members, the game allows you to pause real time action to let you give orders for your characters. You can also just sit back and let the AI work it out with the very initiative behaviour system; you can set each characters default behaviour for certain circumstances which gives you the hands off approach. The graphics show their thirteen year age here; although back when this game was originally released, this was one of the best looking games of its time. Bare that in mind before you judge the pixels! The game play is very linear, there is no reason to back track in this game as enemies do not respawn, and you just need to push on forward. The zones are nicely put together, with lots of different hidden areas off the main track, allowing you to explorer and find hidden treasures or maybe a small side boss. The dungeons themselves are massive, you can find yourself getting lost in all of the corridors; this isn't a bad thing though as you just keep on squishing all the enemies till you find your path again. You are playing a dungeon crawler, so you should expect that. I've been playing Dungeon Siege for about twenty odd hours now, this was to complete the whole game including side quests; as with all games of this type, it's highly recommended you do these as they give you extra rewards and more story to immerse yourself in. Even on newer operating systems I didn't have any technical issues, it was a shame I couldn't ramp the resolution right the way up, but I am sure if you look out there you can find mods that allow you to do so. In this day and age, Dungeon Siege will only appeal to a certain audience, newer gamers will probably instantly dislike it because of the way it looks. However, if you want to try out a classic RPG game with tons of content, then Dungeon Siege is a pretty good starting point which you won't be disappointed in. Square Enix and Gas Powered Games should be ashamed of themselves for attempting to sell this game. The entire thing is glitched and not compatable with newer windows systems. This should have a disclaimer that it is NOT compatible with windows 10. This is a shame because I am sure I would enjoy this game a great deal.Show moreShow less
ATTENTION Windows 10 and 11 users. DO THIS so you don't have issues with the game. Once you purchase the game, go to your Library, and right click the game in the listing. Then click "Properties", then "Local Files". In this section, click "Browse". This will open the install folder for the game. In here, find the DungeonSiege.exe file. Right click that, then properties, and then the Compatibility tab. Once there, you will want to click the check box to run it in compatibility mode for WinXP Service Pack 2. Click apply, close, and run the game. ZERO issues. This may look scary, but follow along, and you will do just fine, and you will NOT screw anything up. I owned the original disc for this, but had to hack it so it would run without disc since my laptop has no drive bay. Since this was on sale today as of this review, I had to get it. After doing my little fix above, it runs like a dream...AND MY OLD SAVES WORK!!!!Show moreShow less
It's actually a great classic game, but I have to give this steam version a negative review. In this version, the ending was removed from the game. After I kill the final boss Gom, it just go to the main menu instead of the ending and the credit roll.Show moreShow less
