Dear new players, Jaeger waits for you with a whole lot of fun and easy quests :)Show moreShow less
Valve should change their policy over third party launchers, because every game can put this horrible ones like this game, that can't handle players, then you try to login for over 2 hours and can't ask for refund....Show moreShow less
this game stomps on my nuts but i cant stop coming back and loving itShow moreShow less

I am really disappointed, and €110 lighter if i can't refund. -Edit 1: (10 hrs of in-game experience) - After 10 hours of pure PvE i must say i really enjoy the game, it has a rough learning curve but i got the hang of it to some extend. the game is good, it is a gem in the hands of the wrong people (BSG), the servers and performance of the game are abysmal (ex: 32GB+ ram usage, can't even get 120fps+ on my high end system with low settings.). if the game can be optimised greatly and BSG get's their **** together then i might actually recommend the game. (Also if the die hard community would grow some brains and stop **** riding BSG/be less toxic towards normal people.) For now i would still not recommend people to buy this game. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Footnote : I disabled comments because i was getting so much backlash for complaining that i couldn't play the game i bought because of BSG and their servers. And people were saying that i should just "get used to it" and more increasingly malicious statements. - Footnote 2 : Will probably edit my review more once i get more ours on the game.Show moreShow less
Great hardcore experience, it already starts with trying to launch the game - 10/10 - Supplementary remark: First I hated everything about its launch, now this is my cozy game.Show moreShow less
Let me preface by saying: If you are good with ignoring issues in the games you play, then this will easily be one of the best tactical shooters you could every play, but my god, the issues in this game are very difficult to ignore. I want to love this game, I really do, but given this game's development history, I would never recommend ANYONE play it To be clear: this is not my first time playing the game. I have around 2500-3000 hours across both of my Tarkov accounts. To that, you may ask: Dave, why do you have 2 accounts? Back in 2020, I built my first PC, and the first game I purchased on it was Tarkov. After putting hours into the game, and loving it, I heard about the "Edge of Darkness" edition. On top of the in-game perks that you get with purchasing it, you were promised to receive all further DLC they add in upcoming updates. The thing about the EoD edition was that it cost 150 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dollars. Even to this date, I have never spent more money on a video game, ever. I loved this game, but there were so many issues, and everyone who bought the EoD edition of the game was so excited to see that extra cash for the company be spent on fixing those issues. $150 is a lot of money, and we all thought it a worthwhile investment, because we were naive enough to think that Tarkov was a passion project with a lot of potential. We were wrong Let me talk about some of the problems that the money DIDNT go toward fixing: 1) Server Performance This was by far the most annoying problem for new Steam players. On the 1.0 launch, there were players who couldnt get past the launcher for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DAYS. Not minutes, not hours... DAYS. That is inexcusable for a game like this. If you played the beta, you'll know this happened nearly every wipe day. The beginning of the wipe is usually the most played time for the game, and given that BSG has seen this issue of flooded servers happen about every 6 months on wipe day, youd think that theyd know what kind of hardware they need in order to make servers run properly... Nope. Embarrassing 2) Hardware requirements/game optimization This is the most pressing problem for casual players. I have a decent PC. It's nothing fancy, but it's good enough to run any AAA game on full graphics at 60 frames at the least. I have never once been able to play on Streets of Tarkov at anything over 40 frames. Ever. On other maps, my frames usually sit around 50-70, dropping and raising for the most random reasons... On top of the horrendous stuttering issues, that are CONSTANT... The average income in the United States is somewhere between $40-60k. A majority of Americans, Gen-Z and below, are living paycheck to paycheck... In what world do you think the average gamers have the money necessary to build a setup good enough to play this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game? It is borderline impossible to run Tarkov on a gaming laptop, unless you have a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good one. What chance do you think a blue-collar worker with a $1000 gaming setup has, fighting sweats at dorms, when he's also having to fight with 30 frames per second? 3) Cheaters Cheating is a problem in nearly every game, but I have never seen one as rampant as in Tarkov. A couple years ago, a content creator by the name of "Goat" dropped a video called "The Wiggle that Killed Tarkov" in which he downloaded cheats himself just to try and investigate the cheating problem. The information he gathered in his investigation showed that there was a closeted cheater in 60 PERCENT OF ALL RAIDS that he joined... The video blew up, and what did BSG do to respond? Nothing. Since that video, theyll release updates showing the community "look guys, we've banned this many cheaters in the month of ___" This gives me ZERO hope. Banning cheaters does absolutely nothing to prevent them from coming back. Only anti-cheat software does. Speaking of: Recently, pre 1.0, they seemingly released some anti-cheat software, and Nikita boasted before-hand on Twitter saying "preparing somethin special for cheater scum" What did this software do exactly? It false banned THOUSANDS of accounts. We know this, because Nikita admitted to them being false bans in his pre 1.0 interview with Pestily! The cheating situation in Tarkov has never been properly addressed, and because it's so normal and has been for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years, so few content creators actually talk about it... 4) Queue times Tarkov, like any game, has it's exciting moments, and it has it's boring moments. One of the most boring things in video games as a whole, is waiting for a match. Tarkov has by far THE WORST queue times of any multiplayer game I've ever played in my life. The fastest I've ever got into a Tarkov match is maybe 3 minutes, and the average time for me is maybe 5-7 minutes. The longest? Ive waited close to an hour for a match before. That is unacceptable given how many concurrent players this game has had over the last several years. One of my worst Tarkov memories: Years ago, I was teaching a friend how to play the game. He had maybe 50 hours at the time, so he was very new. We loaded into Interchange, and we waited 38 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minutes for a match. When we FINALLY got into the match, we got ambushed off our spawn on the highway, and he got grenaded within the first minute. He didnt touch the game for another week, and I almost felt like I was personally responsible for wasting his time. 5) Game-breaking bugs When you play a game like Call-of-Duty, and you encounter a bug that gets you killed, most people will just say to themselves "that was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" and simply move on with their lives. In Tarkov however, it is a very different story, because often times youve spent literal HOURS of your life working toward using a specific kit, working on a quest, or trying to find a specific item... and when a bug gets you killed, it can be a genuinely brutal feeling. Tarkov, is absolutely LOADED with game-breaking bugs. Bugs that occur in Tarkov include: Your magazines being loaded with "ghost bullets" that dont do anything when shot Being stuck in a healing or reloading animation that is impossible to get out of Inventories being bugged causing you to not be able to loot them A random system error causing you to disconnect from the match Items bugging when shift-clicking them too quickly into your inventory, causing them to turn into ghost items which arent actually there Jumping over certain rocks seems to glide your character over that terrain, leaving you stuck in a "falling" animation, and can sometimes throw you off of cliff edges Grenades seem to clip on the most RANDOM hitboxes, and will sometimes lag mid-air, causing them to drop at your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ feet and kill you... ALL of the ones I just listed have got me killed before, and some of them I know for a fact are still in 1.0. Some of them are more common than others, but damn, theyre all so annoying. BSG has FAR worse problems to address, but bug fixes should be something that costs very little money, so the fact that theyve been present for so long infuriates me. In conclusion: I feel betrayed for supporting this company for so long. The game is still unfinished, nothing about it is new. The interesting things theyve added to 1.0 dont at all compensate for years and years of abuse and broken promises we've endured for the sake of this game. None of the most pressing issues have been addressed, and I feel genuinely horrible for everyone who gave so much money to see this game develop into a playable and finished state, only to be scammed... If you still play Tarkov past the 1.0 release, youre either a masochist, a streamer who relies on the game for money, or you have stockholm syndrome. Do not support Battlestate Games or any of their future projects. There are hundreds of better games out there that deserve your praise and support, and frankly, you deserve better treatment as a consumer.Show moreShow less

I’m a proud Edge of Darkness owner and have supported EFT since the early beta days. I’ve stuck with it through wipes, bugs, desync, and everything in between including SPT (which I love more than PVP). Today should’ve been a big moment, the launch of 1.0, but instead the launcher throws BadGateway errors, the website is down, and EOD owners are asked to pay £40 on Steam just to open the launcher. No free copy, no acknowledgement of years of support. It feels rough. Honestly, it feels disrespectful. I’ve had countless good memories with this game over the years. Late night raids with friends, clutch extracts, the rare runs where everything actually works. But the past few wipes have shown that cheating is still everywhere, and performance issues keep stacking up. These problems shouldn’t be swept aside, and I don’t see them getting resolved soon unless the focus changes. I’m leaving this review because I want the developers to listen. People who supported this game from day one shouldn’t be treated like an afterthought, especially now that money clearly isn’t the issue. The game can still shine, but right now it needs work. To my fellow cheeky breekys: stay hydrated, keep your scav karma clean, and may your loot be worth the extract. Update 01/12/2025 After two full days of not being able to log in, I finally managed to get into the game. Great, right? Not really. Now the real issue shows itself again. The same problem every PvP game seems to drag around forever: cheaters. And in Tarkov, it’s hitting harder than ever. BSG gains nothing by solving it. Cheaters buy new accounts. More accounts mean more money. This was manageable back in alpha and beta when the player base was smaller and Steam wasn’t involved. Now the game has exploded, and with the extra exposure, the number of cheaters skyrocketed. Woods and Customs are a joke at this point. I haven’t tested the higher-tier maps yet, but I’m not expecting miracles. Woods gave me a good example immediately. Most raids were normal until I ran into one guy who made it obvious something wasn’t right. At first, I thought it was a weird bug. Nope. He was hitting me from around 300 meters, straight through a building. When I went prone, I think the collision blocked him, because he started getting closer. Then he began throwing grenades that literally teleported to my feet. Full clown fiesta. That’s not “good aim.” That’s someone messing around with cheats like it’s a sandbox. And then there are the classic deaths: no sound, no footsteps, instant headshot from someone with a 30 K/D and an ironsight Mosin from half a kilometre away. Come on. I’ve played this game long enough to know when something smells wrong. So yes, my review stays negative. Performance still struggles, the cheating hasn’t improved, and I’m done losing hours of progress after work to some closet cheater farming Twitch clips. I’m mainly playing PvE now because that’s the only way to keep my sanity and actually enjoy what the game could have been. I remember Nikita standing there during the announcement saying they would “hunt the cheaters.” Sure. He says a lot of things. Most of them never happen. And of course, people are salty in the comments. They mock the review, try to twist it into “why did you buy it again lol.” As if I’m not allowed to buy the Steam version because I prefer having everything in one library. It’s my money. My account. My choice. The review wasn’t even about the purchase. It was about how poorly long-time supporters were treated. That’s the point, but this community loves missing the point. It just shows how toxic FPS communities can be. Your honesty gets turned into a joke for people who don’t want to admit the problems right in front of them. I hope things change, but I’m not holding my breath. Until then, I will be keeping the comments section disabled as I've received too many ridiculous and frankly stupid remarks.Show moreShow less
As much as i hate the devs and wanting so bad to leave a negative review to this game, but we all had good memories playing, surviving and dying with friends, thanks for this wonderful experience and looking for the 1.0 release. also ♥♥♥♥ you nikita for not making at least EOD/Unheard transferable to steam, and thanks for this game.Show moreShow less
Escape from Tarkov is not a game. It is a cosmic punishment sent by indifferent gods to remind humanity of its insignificance. Booting it up is like willingly inserting your face into a malfunctioning wood chipper. Nothing makes sense. Hit registration behaves completely random. The sound doesn't work, everyone moves absolutely silently. Bosses and Scavs walk through doors like they don't exist. Players are plunged into despair the moment another server error occurs. Every raid is a dissertation in disappointment, a Shakespearean tragedy written by drunken raccoons on fire. You don't play Escape from Tarkov you endure it, you endure until madness becomes your only friend. Updates break more than they fix, a perpetual motion machine of failure. Servers are on fire. The flashlights are so bright that you can go blind. Queue times feel longer than the lifespan of stars> And the reward for surviving? More loot for Hideout and quests so you can suffer again. again. and again. This game has personally lowered my IQ. My dreams are millions ruble stash now. MY hands tremble when I hear the sounds of bushes. If Dante had Known about Escape from Tarkov, there would have been a Tenth Circle of Hell and This would be the only thing playing. This game is addictive, i can resist the urge to play.... Guys, think twice before you install this festering, soul-devouring,sadness-engine ever again. Escape from Tarkov isn't a extraction game. Its a warning. A cursed artifact. It is a scream into the void and the void screams back.Show moreShow less
