I am a 54-year old father, probably one of the oldest people playing Fishing planet. I am a single father to my son, who is now 14. My son recently started playing Fishing planet. In less than a week, he had already played for over 20 hours. This was terrible for me because it was already hard enough for me to spend time with my son because he was always out with his friends or watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account to play with my son. I started playing, but this was my first time playing a video game since the 90's, so I was quite lost. I asked my son for help, and together we spent some hours playing Fishing planet. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my son since my wife had died. Playing video games reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought me and my son closer again, and now we actually spend time together outside the house as well.Show moreShow less
Unfortunately, this game is pay to win, you can have fun, but when you start the tournament the developers limited your opportunities to catch fish if you don't shop in the store, my father has almost 7,000 hours, that's sick, but he stopped playing when he started playing championships, knows every place and knows perfectly well how and where to catch fish, the competition begins and without spending money in the store, he is not able to compete with others. He competed in 200 turnaments and he never got a medal, but when he shopped for £9 he came in 2nd place with silver medal. I am a programmer and I know how it works, I do not recommend it. Really, use this time for something else dude.Show moreShow less
My friend I play with, said. that if I post a review about the game and it gets 400 likes and 150 rewards, he'll buy me a bag of chips and a RTX 4090. So I'll leave this here. please help meShow moreShow less
I have over 3,000 hours in this game and have played since a few months after launch, so obviously it must have been an enjoyable game at some point. However, I cannot recommend it to anyone in its current state. In their haste to push people to buy DLC for the new game location, the devs have obviously and purposely broken all but three of the dozen plus available waterways. The bite rates have been nerfed to 1/4 - 1/3 of what they were previously, and most locations are now thoroughly boring. Some are not even possible to break even at within the bounds of the game economy. Some of us have paid literally hundreds of dollars for permanent licenses for these locations so that we could continue to enjoy them when we got bored of the higher level waterways. This is a nasty bait-and-switch tactic in my eyes. They've made severe alterations to waterways that have been in play for years and alot of us have paid good money to have permanent access to. It has cut a huge amount of the replay value out of this game. It's broken the game to the point where I would not recommend it to anyone. Period. How hard is it to figure out that no matter how good the eye candy, or how good a simulation it is, nobody wants to play a fishing game where you don't catch anything? Who wants to play a game where you're forced by the game economy into fishing the same 3 locations over and over? Anyways - this is a thoroughly bad game now if you're not playing at one of the remaining 3 waterways that have not been nerfed to the point of irrelevance. There was an out previously for people who didn't like the direction the "F2P" version of this game was going. You could spend $40 on The Fisherman, and get the older and much more enjoyable version of Fishing Planet. The dev team decided to break that as well with the last update so most of us are now looking for a different game. Edit - there are fewer than half as many people playing the game as there were 3 weeks ago. I wonder why.Show moreShow less

I have been playing this game on and off since 2016. I just came back after a long break and much has changed, so i had them reset my account. After restarting the game, the first thing i noticed was the changes that make this game a MAJOR cash grab. Everytime i turn a corner, the game is set up in such a way as to make you feel cornered into pumping money into it, to progress. Forwarding time is such an example. Another example is gaining lures like crankbaits. At early levels, cranks cost coins which you must purchase with $$. Want a buzzbait? Same deal. They have raised the money required to travel to different ponds by insane levels. This forces a level 20 player back to lonestar lake (level 1) to farm spotted bass for hours until they have enough to buy travel, licenses and bait/lures. By the time you get to your new lake, you are ready to log out and not wishing to play anymore for a while. This interrupts the flow of the game and makes you feel like you are not progressing. They have also nerfed the bite..... No longer can you slam fish at peak hours and progress. They have made it to where the bite turns off randomly mid peak fishing weather. Changing lures/techniques dont help. You just have to wait for the game to turn the fish back on. Items in the store now cost you out the wazuu as well. No longer will you be able to buy NEW needed items that you just unlocked by leveling up. You will have to farm spotted bass over and over (gaining no xp) at early levels just to get a better keepnet or tacklebox or rod and reel....or you could just throw real money at it and get it now...which is what they designed the game to do. But wait theres more! Best for last. I just pumped $25 into the game buying the metalhead pack. A few days later.... expensive lures i bought have been lost due to disconnections. I filed support tickets to get the items back and this was the response. Daina admits there is an in-game problem in this email message. This is what diana (customer support) had to say: "Hello, You will lose a lure/bait/leader if you close the game/lose connection with tackle placed in water, the game cannot land the line automatically so it breaks at the moment of disconnect. Best regards, Diana Senior Customer Support Specialist" UPDATE: 4/28/20 new response from the "senior customer support specialist" diana via email. "We found no issues from the game' side regarding this case, unfortunately, this item is non-refundable. UPDATE: 4/29/20 new response from diana backtracking.... "Our customer service has strict rules and we need to follow them in all cases, no matter is our customer paying or not. In cases of confirmed in-game issues, we can refund any loss and our players know it." "WE CAN REFUND" but diana chooses not to. FP just lost a paying customer over a lure that was lost over disconnection caused by the download of another game on steam. Diana did not return the lost items that happened from disconnections. The disconnections were not my fault. I guess fishing planet cant handle it when borderlands 3 was downloading in the background. 1 item was lowest level buzzbait which cost me coins bought by real life money and the popper i lost cost me above 10k (10k was 5 keepnets full of spotted bass and countless hours wasted at lonestar lake) credits while at the everglades. See? early on money is very hard to come by in the game as they have it set up now and 10k is a big chunk to a low level player. It costs nearly 10k just to travel to new york to farm walleye now, not including the license. SO ANY cash grabbing game that wont offer support or item replacement when it was the glitchy games fault....does not deserve your money. STAY AWAY! They wont support us, so why support them by playing their game and spending money? There is another fishing game here on steam with big names tied to it like scott martin you could try instead.Show moreShow less

Used to be a great game but greed ruins things as usual. No more free skip of night time. Night time forwarding has been reverted, due to complaints. The big one, unless you buy the new top dlc you'll never be able to keep all the fish you can catch on the new sea map due to size limit on fish hold. Voting with my wallet, this company dont deserve any more of my money. Not recommended unless this changes.Show moreShow less

The game is ok, but the people running it don't allow you to give help to others to find the best fish. They will ban you because of it and give any excuse other than the truth. They keep upsetting a lot of people with their attitude in the forums, short answers and lies too. Before the last update they promised more XP for Common fish and Trophy fish, but they lied and put the XP down on ALL fish types and upset the community. Now they're banning people and without warning, even though posting in the forums that people will get a warning first! I wouldn't trust them so far as to throw them. If i were you steer well clear of this. It isn't that good anyhow, well not anymore! Now this developer has the audacity to accuse me of abuse thrown at their developement team on my REVIEW!!! See people this is the sort of thing you have to put up with, a bunch of LIARS, nothing more, just plain liars. I did NOT give them abuse, I have witnesses to the fact, that was BEFORE they took DOWN MY POST IN THEIR FORUMS, to hide the truth no doubt! OH and another thing ALEX, you NEVER WARNED ME AT ALL (again you lied) you just BANNED ME WITHOUT WARNING YOU LIAR!!!!!! They DON'T like NEGATIVE feedback and try their damndest to get rid of it, they ban you if they don't like what you say, they accuse you of things that you didn't do and don't allow you to protest. Take this on board before you get into playing their simulator. HERE's PROOF; This is part of the evidence within their forum (the rest has been deleted by them); alex [developer] 3 Sep @ 6:01pm Originally posted by spotme_2: You didn't warn me before you banned me! Why? And in particular the reason you gave wasn't sufficient. You should have a word blocker in place to prevent anbody being offended in the first place. I used a few bad words, but none were aimed at anybody within the lobby, yet you banned me hours later...All i've been doing is trying to do is help others so that they can enjoy your simulator, so basically doing you guys a favour in reality, and this is what I get? Really poor guys, really poor. And now you post this, saying you will always make warnings before banning...? Yes, we banned users without warning lately but from now we shall give a chance to correct the post prior to ban. Last edited by alex; 3 Sep @ 6: Now hide that truth ALEX the LIAR DEVELOPER!!!! YOU BANNED ME WITHOUT WARNING. That was out of order and you damn well know it, you lied on more than one occasion, and because I pointed this out you banned me from your damn forum, so don't tell more lies and accuse me on my review, that I gave abuse towards your team, because the evidence is there for ALL to see how you people are! FREEDOM OF SPEECH you liar! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Footnote:- Well said Nordek. If they had simply warned me instead of a ban without warning, I would simply had stopped doing what they wanted me not to do, and I would have just carried on playing it. But they went too far (especially Alex) and gave me another ban without warning from their forums because I asked why the ban, and pointed out that they lied about the raising of the XP on Common & Trophy fish, basically I was seeking the real truth behind why they banned me. Furthermore he then slanted me on my very own review of their simulator with more lies, accusing me of abusing their staff, and basically saying that's the reason they banned me and also lied about warning me to be simply polite! I've been nothing but polite in every way possible, however he took something personal and turned into something rather pathetic to say the least and certainly over the top in banning me for what can only be seen as helping others with trying to catch Unique fish. Which by the way others do frequently day by day on their simulator. Which makes me wonder if they banned me for doing just that, are they then saying they are going to ban all that do that very thing, just because they don't like it...? Seems rather silly to ban people over something harmless as helping others enjoy their simulator, which in my opinion would simply help them to grow...But hey, what do I know?Show moreShow less
