Fun, yet repetetive. Don't buy this if you have no friends.Show moreShow less
Its a fun multiplayer game, but it gets more buggy and worse for each update that comes maybe every 6 months or so? Its not at all worth the asking price, and it seems like a long-term cash grab by the developers. I want this game to be good, or at least better and done, but using 3 years in early access with a ridicoulus asking price for what little this game has to offer make me bitter and angry, because the game itself is REALLY fun (at least with the older, less buggy builds) but the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing seems to me like the laziest attempt at making money, because its not big, it doesnt have particularly good graphics, and doesnt have a lot of content, so leave it unless its on sale for 5$, because I have been waiting for this game to get better, but it gets more expensive, more buggy and more frustrating.Show moreShow less

[[[[[[[=> UPDATED REVIEW 31.12.17 <=]]]]]]]] I Rate this 8/10 [Maybe Bad Grammar xD] What i like about the Game > Smooth and Funny Animations > Nice Graphics for a game like this (Fits good) > Really Funny (Small Mechanic bugs makes it even more funnier) > Good Game Mechanics > Up to 8 Players per Match > 17 Multiplayer maps > 4 Gamemodes including: (Waves, Gang, All vs All and Soccer) > Many cosmetic Items that you can apply to your Character What I dont like about the Game: > No Option to Play private with your Friends > Matchmaking doesnt work sometimes > 0.5 Seconds Input lag (character reacts pretty slow according to your reactions) > The Main menu Overlay needs some improvements > Needs better key implementation for keyboard, Mouse in Options (Looks kinda unfinished) What could be added to make it more Enjoyable > A Round Timer (so people cant troll anymore) > Needs Workshop (For users to make Custom Maps or Costumes) > Maybe some other Gamemodes (Highest Climb, Deathrun) Deathrun explained: In Deathrun you could make it from 1 Point to the other end, in the middle are some traps or some floorplates that will fall apart when running on it, so you basicly have to climb, jump and run across the map. The first to reach the end will win. Highest Climb explained: In Highest Climb you have to climb to the top of the tower, building... the first to reach the top wins, you have to keep moving while climbing or you will fall down, some objects will fall slowly during the climbing phase to make it more enjoyable. You can also beat your oponents while climbing. I hope some Devs will read this because i have some Great Ideas here :DShow moreShow less
I've been following Gang Beasts since around 2013 when it was just a twinkle in the eye of a couple of friends on IndieDB, even before the pre-alpha. Since then this game has seen many transitions, even stepping backwards many times in the gameplay department but never lost it's touch. That is, until they decided to develop a PS4 version as well and then replace the PC version with it. Since then, the game has gone MAJORLY down hill. It's lost almost all of it's charm, by that I mean the way it USED to play. You could do a lot of stupid and silly things, I don't think Gang Beasts was ever meant to be a fighter but more so a silly brawler. By tightening up the controls and trying to make the game better they've made it worse in many ways. They also introduced a stamina system a while back that contributed to me not wanting to play it simply because there was no TOGGLE for it. Sometimes I just wanted to climb the stages for fun without some stamina limitation in my way. They also removed a lot of the "bugs" which weren't really bugs but more so just stupid things that made the game a little more fun. They've tried to make the fighting more streamlined but they've honestly made it worse, the character controls are still clunky but the character tries to respond quicker to your inputs which leads to a lot of frustration, they also changed the grab scheme too, now you can't even reach up high to grab, you can only reach waist height, climbing while faster now feels worse thanks to some of the mentioned issues. You also cannot grab someone and jump now, they'll automatically let go and I have no idea why they did this, it's stupid and just removes yet another bit of charm the game had. The game has always looked decent but with the PS4 patch they tried to make it look nicer and instead of doing that they killed performance completely. Gang Beasts was always kind of heavy on the system for no reason but the PS4 patch shot it through the roof. The menu is also still very clunky, the only positive out of all of this is the updated costume customizer, that's it and even then, the jelly dudes look worse than they did before some how. The game's biggest problem is the gameplay/controls, since trying to "fix" them they've completely broken what was fun about this game. They tried to make it more skill based but it didn't work at all, often times now my hits don't connect at all and I'm seemingly always being one punch KO'd by AI instantly, you can't sprint and then jump anymore like you could before, kicking barely works, the dive kick is fairly useless considering how low you jump, the head butt now leads to more self KO's than anything so it's also mostly useless and grabbing is just awful, your character will grab everything but the thing/person you're trying to grab, it was a little tricky pre-PS4 patch but now it's just absolutely God awful. Devs also talked about moving the game into a more general direction back before it was picked up by a publisher, they talked about doing a lot of the things that Human Fall Flat has done, races/obstacle courses and big open spaces, but they seem to have completely dropped this aspect of the game. So yeah, almost everything that made Gang beasts feel like Gang Beasts is now gone. I hardly enjoyed the last few hours I've put into Gang Beasts since the PS4 update. It just doesn't feel good or feel like the game I originally paid for. I HATE giving negative reviews, I can usually find a good reason to give a positive review but ultimately, Gang Beasts has let me down hard specially for being such a hugely loyal fan for so many years. I expected a lot more.Show moreShow less
Gang Beasts is one the best local multiplayer experiences available, no question. I have played this countless hours leading up to this Early Access release and I am thorougly excited about the new features and goofiness that awaits. There is something incredibly appealing about watching plasticine-looking somewhat drunk people punch each other in the face and throw each other into dangerous situations. If you're having some friends over for a gathering, grab some controllers and play this gem. I have not heard this much screaming since the original Smash Brothers. We will continue to make this our end of week game in our studio, good job Boneloaf. All the best. Looking forward to every moment that Gang Beasts has to offer. *EDIT To clarify my 'countless hours' into the game. There has been an earlier copy available for months that I have been playing obsessively with work mates and friends. The Steam copy has lots of new features and tweaks that make it far superior to the old 0.0.1 - 0.0.3 version that were previously available.Show moreShow less
Before the recent patch on December 21st 2016, I would give this game a 10/10. Now...since the patch, a 0/10. I used to look forward to playing this game with my friend everyday, now, I just want to uninstall. I used to be able to join a game, on the first try, and jump all over and just go crazy and have a blast. Now, if I want to join a game, it usually takes between 4-10 attempts to even get connected, then once I'm in the game, I jump around like crazy...and knock myself out!! Rubbish!!! Here is what I would like to see. Bring back the OLD PHYSICS of fighting, moving and gameplay. There was no reason to change any of that. Horrible mistake. Like really, who's in charge over there, a potatoe? I would also like to see, if you can't fix the current "lobby" feature where you can invite friends, just remove that, it was much easier getting into a game that my friend was in by clicking his name in Steam and clicking Join Game. Simple. Easy as pie, pumpkin pie to be exact. I would also like to see, the old levels, if you're going to do an update, don't change everything about the game, give me my old levels back. This wouldn't be a problem if you didn't change the PHYSICS of fighting, moving and gameplay. Then I could learn the new levels, definatly a potatoe is in charge over there. I will say that the costumes are AMAZING NOW, that's the only part of the update that I approve of. Everything else, please revert back to the last patch. Actually adding voice chat was pretty cool too, but not being able to fight properly and basically being a potatoe makes the game pretty spud. If you need someone to bounce ideas off of before you create a new patch, let me know. I've been gaming for over 25 years so I know what the people want. You don't make a patch that changes the overall playstyle of the game, change up all the levels, add new menus and a non-working match making system. Like I said, the only good thing was the new costumes, that's it. Not trying to be mean but this was my favorite steam game. Now I'm just going to unisntall until I see a new patch come out. I feel sad :(Show moreShow less
am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for Christmas in 2021 from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So i decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game, picked my character and world and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories.Show moreShow less
If you have such a big game and decide to publish it on two different game platforms (microsoft store and Steam) at least make sure that they can play together.Show moreShow less
