After a month of anticipation, I finally get together with my boyfriend on our day off together, plug in two controllers, and get ready to spend an afternoon blasting the locust! But the option is nowhere in the menus to be seen. What gives? Turns out, 13 days before launch, they pulled the local co-op tag from Steam. They had advertised this game as having local co-op splitscreen as a feature on the Steam page and in the trailer, and my purchasing decision was based on this fact. I was misled, and our afternoon plans were ruined. :( Looks to me like The Coalition either deliberately lied to sell more copies, or they just plain didn't know what features the PC version of their own game had. Played it back in 2006. It's the best Xbox game to date. I'm happy that everyone can enjoy the game now, no matter what platform. Can 2 and 3 receive this treatment? If this doesn't at least lead to a Gears of War 2 remaster, we riot. The complete trilogy would be amazing to have on both PlayStation and PC in the future.Show moreShow less

1: The trailer on steam advertised split-screen coop until about 6 hours after launch. This video was edited to exclude that part of the trailer after launch when the review bombing began. False advertisement gets an automatic thumbs down. 2: Keybinds are a mess. m/k cant set the same binds as controller players. 3: Changing graphics settings causes a bootloop which requires manually deleting game files to fix. This game had a beta. Even with FREE game testing labor, they still managed to have a common bug causing a bootloop? I wish I could give another thumbs down. 4: I'll be back when Gears 1, 2, and 3 get released on PC as a package without any of the aforementioned bull ****. Give me back my money.Show moreShow less

I love this game but seriously man I'm sick of split-screen being removed from PC ports so I can't leave this game a positive review. This game is amazing but despite that its embarrassing how glitches still can happen on a title that's been released 3 times now. I can't even get this game to launch without crashing multiple times first and when it does it launches in windowed mode for some reason and funnily enough that gives the game another chance to crash since the game starts to tweak out sometimes if you switch back to full-screen or change resolutions. Even then, I can overlook all of those dumb bugs just because of how fun this game is but I can't forgive removing split-screen especially when this game was initially advertised with the promise of having it on PC. It's really sad too because surprisingly this game runs like a gem on the steam deck but there isn't even really a reason to play it on the deck because there is no couch co-op.Show moreShow less

7/10 Negatives. It Lauches in 2025 with 30fps cutscenes, no FOV slider. I personally like the original 360 Menu background better. Multiplayer is dead in 2026. And no bots. Positives. Imagine being tricked into buying something for split-screen as the series has always had it and was advertised to have it here to be changed last second to prevent a worse review bombing. Do your job and add it in as it was supposed to be here. Don't ask for pre-orders then change what I'm buying later. I'm extremely disappointed that the game just crashed after I made some changes in the graphics option and restart the game. The game just crashed when it connects to the service! Fix it Coalition/Microsoft! This needs a hotfix! Absolutely inexcusable to release broken PC port on Steam! *Update* If you're still experiencing game crash, follow these steps: -Go to C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Coalition -Delete "WarGame" folder -Relaunch the game and it should work without crash -However, don't login with your Microsoft account, otherwise the game will crash after restart! -But for now, single player campaign should work, although there's technical issue for Multiplayer.
