Don't buy this one now. Wait for Rising. Rising is sequel. Not update or patch. It's come with Rollback netcode and crossplay. Edit: I didn't mean the game is bad. This game is enjoyable even you are not into fighting game because of rpg mode. The visual is good and I'm still listening to this game music til these days. I just don't recommended to buy NOW since the new one with this game's content included is coming soon.Show moreShow less

The game is fun but ffs who cares when it can only really be enjoyed in the arcade mode. Online lobbies are mostly deserted, eg. I had to ask the discord for someone to queue up with me just to play the 2 online matches required for ranking purposes. The netcode is trash. Save your money and don't bother.Show moreShow less
Narmaya's Review Granblue Fantasy Versus takes the massive mobile universe and translates it into one of the most visually striking fighting games on the market. The character designs pop with vibrant colors and fluid animations. The overall atmosphere is incredibly strong. Even if you are completely new to the franchise, the visual flair and fantastic soundtrack are enough to pull you right in. The gameplay is heavily geared towards accessibility. I found the combat here incredibly refreshing. It has intuitive controls and simple inputs that let newcomers jump right into the action, yet it retains enough mechanical depth to keep veterans engaged. The roster is on the smaller side, but every character feels distinct and offers a completely different playstyle. There is also a dedicated RPG Mode. This acts as a story-driven brawler where you can grind for loot and customize your weapon grids. The plot itself is relatively basic, but it provides a great medium to dive deeper into the world and interact with the cast. Verdict: 8/10 The online scene however is pretty much dead. The connections are stable when you do find a match, but the player base has mostly moved on to the sequel Versus: Rising. If your primary goal is competitive online multiplayer, you will have a hard time finding opponents, and you'll have to find smaller dedicated communities for matches. However, if you are looking for a gorgeous anime fighter to play locally with friends or want to tackle the single-player RPG content, it is still a solid purchase and easily remains a valued part of my fighting game collection today. My only complaint that it is just way too overpriced.Show moreShow less
Play this for the offline. To be completely fair, there is a global Community League going, organized by the developer and it seems rather easy to participate. However: at the moment of writing, a total of 106 players on Steam, divided between 4 regions and without possibility to do a same-search for players in all regions. This also means one can't be picky about opponents: if you do find an opponent, it may be a big mistmatch, or really bad net connection, or both. The offline is pretty damn outstanding, though. Beautiful game. Excellent art, really really great soundtrack. Think of this as an epic heavy metal musical... playing a fighting game in the meantime. The characters are pretty diverse and more interesting than in most fighters. The story mode serves as a tutorial to introduce the combat system, the different characters and the lore (lots of lore), and honestly, I wish more games did something like this. Archer girl and tall-hat gnome lady will clean up the whole thing easy (how it should be). It is such a tragedy that the game isn't more popular: the developers' goal clearly was to make a fighting game that is more accessible to newcomers. As an offline game, it does a great job... but, unfortunately, when a community is so small, only the most hardcore stay, so the result is a very inaccessible game.Show moreShow less
Great Game. Terrible Online Rated from a scrub with a background in fighting games, but never cracked into a top 8. Why It Hurts To Thumb This Game Down - Beautiful art style. - Epic Soundtrack. - Easy to play. Plenty of depth to master. - Varied, charismatic base roster. - Stunning animations. - Helpful, specific tutorial tools in the Mission Mode. - Little touches like stage transitions, alternate outros and match-up based voice lines. Why It's Virtually Unplayable - Online is dead. - All online features locked away until you play 2 ranked matches (which is tricky due to the above point). - When you do get online, delay based netcode dampens experience. - Anemic single player offerings. And While I'm Complaining . . . - DLC over priced relative to other fighting games and rarely goes on sale. Who should play this? - Fighting game fans with access to couch co-op or a friend on a nearby network. - Anyone looking for SoundCloud content. Alternatively Suggest - Guilty Gear Strive - Gorgeous visually, audibly and mechanically. Every pro on my list plus solid network play and a community that's still present. Not quite as easy to onboard with though. - Fantasy Strike - Super streamlined and approachable for beginners, but also a dead community. Free to try at least. - Dragon Ball Fighterz - A lateral recommendation. You could take this review and more or less apply it to DBFZ, although their online community is more vibrant and it'll be getting Rollback Netcode soon. More complex than any of the other games here due to the need to master 3 characters that are somehow mechanically distinct despite all being Goku. I intend to keep playing Granblue as I'm one of the lucky few with local friends who are also playing it, but if you're not so fortunate, consider my alternatives. If ever rollback is announced, purchase the base game immediately and consider a DLC character only if they really speak to you, as the core roster scratches a lot of thematic and mechanical itches. Yes, the horny pick is already there (Hello Metera).Show moreShow less
