I just want to say that you should be wary and careful of deep discount from Hitman World of Assassination. As of today 11/28/2024, there is a 90% discount for Hitman World of Assassination PART ONE which is the same map/campaign as Hitman 1. The little rebranding of Hitman 3 to Hitman World of Assassination and then include Hitman (1) and Hitman 2 in it as if they're new content is sneaky at best and dishonest at worst. Check out World of Assassination Upgrade Pack and you'll find that it will only add 6 more new maps: Berlin, Carpathian Mountains, Chongqing, Dartmoor, Dubai, Mendoza. Everything else is Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 maps. I already owned Hitman 1 and Hitman 2, I shouldn't have to look up Reddit guide on how to BUY a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game and what it includes. If you are confused like I was, please check this out: https://www.reddit.com/r/HiTMAN/comments/18w8zet/2024_guide_to_buying_hitman_3_and_world_of/Show moreShow less
How to buy the game (Yes I kid you not you need help with this) Standard Edition: For those who just want to play Hitman 3 and those who already own 1 and 2 Deluxe Edition: Same as standard but with the 'Deluxe Pack' at a £5 discount compared to if you bought it separately (Apparently the deluxe pack is not worth it according to my friend who bought it on Epic Games at a lower price) HITMAN Trilogy: If you DON'T own any of the Hitman games and want to play them all on one place, despite being the most expensive one this is not a complete package and does not include the 'Deluxe Pack' Seven Deadly Sins: All of the Year 1 DLC for the game (Apparently the price has been raised and discounted to make it seem like a better deal) Hitman 2 Gold Access Pass: Essentially the content from the Hitman 2 Gold edition but in Hitman 3, do not buy this if you already own Hitman 2. This is so overpriced as well, This does not include the game itself so if you want to play all of the 1 and 2 content get the Trilogy pack or buy the games separate and link your account to get them. How to link your account if you own Hitman 1 or Hitman 2: If you go to profile.hitman.com you can link your IOI account to transfer your progress AND LOCATIONS to Hitman 3 so you don't need to grind or re-purchase levels you already own. This isn't explained well enough before buying editions of the game. I accidentally bought the wrong version (Trilogy) despite owning everything in 1 and 2 so had to refund the game and buy the standard edition. I don't want anyone else going through the pain of realising they bought the wrong edition and being unable to play for a few hours or so whilst their refund goes through. If you don't care enough about steam you can play the trilogy on gamepass or buy it for cheap on epic games. Hope this helps : ) If you could mark this as helpful that would be appreciated so other people don't get done over.Show moreShow less
For those having trouble buying the game or getting confused by it, get the NORMAL VERSION + HITMAN 3 Access Pass: HITMAN 2 Expansion for all the main content/maps, avoiding paying more for any braindead cosmetics. Goodluck and keep hitting men.Show moreShow less
Great game, but the most predatory tactics i've seen in a game. You buy it on a sale, it's only a few bucks, you're getting a great deal! Store page says all you're missing out on is Freelancer and VR, and for the next edition up costing 10x the price you don't need those. Oh, what's this, you can't do contract mode? You can't play Hitman 2 or 3 levels? You can't do 80% of the things you thought you were paying for? Come on IOI. Have some respect for your customers and yourselves.Show moreShow less
GUIDE TO THE PURCHASE OPTIONS so heres how you can tell the difference between what your buying, because you don't wanna be like me, who often bought packs that did the same thing. Hitman 3 standard edition - Just Hitman 3, so no Hitman 2 or 1. You get access to the newly added levels, as well as elusive targets and most of the escalations. This does not give you access to the 7 deadly sins levels. Hitman 3 Deluxe edition - a bit scammy, not quite worth the money, but it comes with some music, 3 new skins and a couple of extra escalations. This won't give you any new levels. This does not give you access to the 7 deadly sins levels. Hitman trilogy - Comes with nearly everything. If you want to buy hitman and access most of the levels, this is the one to go for. I believe the only things you do not get access to are the sniper edition levels, the patient zero campaign, the deluxe stuff, the 7 deadly sins levels and any extra skins. This is like the core of the game without any extra things. Hitman trilogy premium add-ons - literally just hitman trilogy except it includes the features that aren't in hitman trilogy. You have to own the original Hitman trilogy in order to buy this one. The only thing it doesn't include is the 7 deadly sins. If you are stupid and can't comprehend what I just said; it doesn't include the base levels. Only the extra stuff Hitman - 7 deadly sins pack - the new 7 deadly sins pack. It includes the 7 new levels that are a bit simular to escalations. Basically, there are still 3 stages in each sin, (they are sorted as targets, so every time you eliminate a target, its like a checkpoint. So you can really count it as just 1 stage with 3 targets.) Its basically escalations but with a lot of effort put into them. Hitman 3 access passes - these are basically dlc's that were put in hitman 2 and 1. If you already own these, you should automatically gain access to them during the carryover. There is one called 'hitman 3 access pass: hitman 2 gold', this basically means 'if you are new to the hitman trilogy, you can have access to the dlc in hitman 2 here'. here are what the access passes do: Hitman 2 gold edition - it gives you access to all hitman 2 levels, which is why its so expensive. It comes with all levels, including the sniper editions, the expansion pack (2 places, Maldives and New York) as well as some extra skins. Its pretty big if you ask me Hitman 2 standard - gives you access to standard hitman 2 locations. This is basically the gold edition but without sniper edition, the expansion pack or extra skins. It gives you access to the base levels. Which is miami, columbia, mumbai, whittleton creek and the isle of sgail Hitman 1 GOTY edition - gives you access to every level from hitman 1 but without campaigns Hitman 1 GOTY upgrade - gives access to the hitman 1 campaigns, does not include the base levels. Most of these packs are worth the money. But most of them are on sale quite often. So if you think some of them aren't worth the money, you can always wait a month or two and get a massive sale on it. thank me laterShow moreShow less
This trilogy has been some of the most fun I've had playing games. Amazing gameplay, and 47's story is actually extremely well told and highly underrated. I know it's not a popular opinion but I also very much enjoy the creative route they've taken with most of the levels in this final entry. I just wish they added a few more maps with more replay value. Overall, though, an absolute blast all the way through. Why am I not recommending this, I hear you ask? Because no singleplayer game that has an always online requirement deserves to be recommended, ever. I'm sorry. You don't want people to pirate your games? Then give actual ownership back to the customer. Simple as that. And no, having an extremely limited "offline mode" (where all progression in the game is unavailable btw) isn't good enough. It shouldn't even have an online mode period. It's a singleplayer game for crying out loud. I wish I could recommend this game, I truly do, but this always-online-single-player-game epidemic has gone too far now. The only way to stop it is to vote with your wallets, folks. Do not buy this game. Take a page out of Edward Kenway's book and sail the seven seas. What a massive L. Remove this "feature" from this game, IO Interactive, and I'll change my rating, because other than that, this game is a 9/10. Edit: Yes, I obviously understand you don't actually own the game itself, you just own a license to access a copy of it, that still doesn't change anything. Steam has been up and running for decades now, nobody's ever lost any game license, countless online games have come and gone during that time period however. Stop saying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the comments please if that's the extent of your argument.Show moreShow less
Buying guide: cheapest way to unlock full game with all maps. 1. Wait for sale. 2. Buy HITMAN World of Assassination for €27,99 3. Buy HITMAN 3 Access Pass: HITMAN 2 Expansion for €6,99, this gives you access to Haven Island, New York and the Sniper Maps. You can skip the rest, the deluxe edition is not really worth your money unless you've finished the game and want something new. Some of the celebrity dlc's are fun, but overpriced, only buy on sale.Show moreShow less
The game is fun. There, I said it. But it's the trilogy itself that is good. This third part is just so weak, so small and so poorly packaged. Buy at your own risk and you still can't get everything. --- Complaint #1 I wanted to be able to recommend this, but the simple reality is the servers are so absolutely terrible that it constantly gets in the way of game play with disconnections. I'd over looked the online element in the previous two games because the connections were relatively stable and despite being a single player game, the online elements were worth it; contracts mode is the heart of the endless replay value. EDIT: It's gotten a little better with time, but it's still flaky and occasionally goes down. --- Complaint #2 It's wildly over priced for the small amount of content presented here. I don't care that it was released to Epic first, I don't care that it's been on sale before being brought to Steam and then released on Steam at full price; what I care about is that this isn't $60 worth of game compared to the previous two in the trilogy. And the DLC on top of it brings that price to $120 while adding nothing noteworthy, not even real missions or locations. EDIT: (years later) Price comparisons removed. The previous two games are no longer available and the now renamed WOA (replacing Hitman 3) has had price changes. However, that just makes it even more convoluted for how to buy things and there's now a bunch of content new buyers can never get. And don't even ask me to try and explain the DLC situation or which ones are no longer available or why so many of them are wildly over priced for fractional amounts of content. This went from a great series to a drip feed cash grab over time. Now realize, this is coming from a player who put 1000+ hours into each of the previous games, and the only reason I'll put another 1000+ into this one will be due to the fact you can play the other seasons inside of it. --- Complaint #3 The VR sucks, that wouldn't have been enough by itself for me to thumb down the review, but it's worth commenting on. --- EDIT after 50+ hours Complaint #4 There's no excuse for how buggy the challenges are. The game is over a year old and has no polish, no qualify of life improvements. Far too many challenges simply do not trigger and will forever remain broken and incomplete. And while we're on the subject of broken challenges, they also decided to leave in a list of elusive targets you missed. Targets that will simply never be run on Steam at all, so you didn't really miss them, you just weren't able to play them here. Will they re run those targets? Sure, under new names so that the original names all remain "missed" just to rub it in your face. I swear the longer I play this game the more disgusted I am at the lack of quality and respect shown not just to the players, but to the game itself. Why did they remove challenges and break others and now show no sign of fixing anything? I mean seriously, they even removed challenge packs which were themed ways to replay locations and streamlined the unlock process, it's just dumbed down. And there's suits and items missing. If you want the complete trilogy experience you actually have to have owned and played the previous two games... every time I turn around there's something else missing or broken… --- EDIT after 150+ hours Complaint #5 Glitches in the inventory system ~ fixed EDIT after 1000 hours: This bug took over two years to fix while you couldn't access parts of your unlocks, it was on their "We don't know how to reproduce this" list despite having numerous people explain it for them. Casual players may not have noticed, but for the first two years you couldn't access items at the end of the list if you had more than 200 unlocks. --- Complaint #6: The DLC scam. The developers have undergone a massive restructuring of employees and ownership. They now churn over priced trash DLC, some with limited time offerings so not everyone can get them and Twitch drops to drive engagement and FOMO buying. This was a company and franchise I respected for decades, but that has been thoroughly stomped on by how this game has been changed over the years. There's not enough space in these reviews to give a full explanation. --- Summary: Beyond that, you don't need me to tell you the gameplay itself is good. You can play the demo yourself, it's free. If you've played the prior two games, this is more of the same, just less of it. There's fewer story missions per location, most of the locations are fairly small; even the ones that are technically large have a lot of open space with nothing in them. There's less challenges, less escalations, and the DLC (which you have to pay for) add only escalations that in prior games were free. It basically comes down to this: Hitman 3 is a glorified expansion pack to the trilogy that has the least content of the three seasons. Do you want it? Probably, but do yourself a favor and wait until it's on sale for a price you won't hate yourself for paying. If you don't own any of the trilogy yet, pick up Hitman 2 Gold + GOTY Legacy Pack, even at $120 full price it's a huge volume of content compared to Hitman 3 for $120 which is a fraction of the size. And of course Hitman 2 Gold goes on sale several times a year for deep discounts so you won't even need to pay full price. And if and when you do get around to buying Hitman 3, your progress will carry over from 2. EDIT: Well, they discontinued the previous games, renamed Hitman 3 into "World of Assassination" and this is now the only way to buy the trilogy if you didn't already own the previous games. I'm still not going to change this to recommended, because they've also made it way too convoluted for how to buy everything. I used to write a guide for it, but it's so convoluted even I'm not keeping up with it. And the missing DLC would take another essay to explain… This could have been one of the greatest games of all time, in fact, it should have been. And yet they somehow managed to abuse it and their fan base. You can buy it, but don't expect me to recommend it. Keep in mind that steam reviews only ask if you recommend the game or not. I've already stated it's a good game, I'm just not recommending it anyway due to the terrible marketing, abusive DLC, horrible support and myriad of other issues that plague the franchise and its new publishers. They took a great series and decided to just keep abusing the fan base instead of focusing on making the game better. --- Bottom line: Hitman (season) 3 (now renamed World of Assassination) is functionally a good game, but the mess this company has become and the DLC nightmare is unforgivable. Buy at your own risk. --- While you are here, would you consider following my curator page? Want to read all of my reviews and not just the curated ones?Show moreShow less
Be careful when buying!! The purchase options and DLC is very confusing and its easy to buy something you didn't want. The one you are probably looking for is "HITMAN World of Assassination". This is basically the modern hitman 1, 2, and 3 games packed into one big game. "HITMAN World of Assassination Episode: Sapienza" only grants you access to one mission which i do not recommend at all (although as of september 9th 2025, it seems like this option was removed from the front page). "HITMAN World of Assassination Part One" Gives you access to the entire hitman 1 campaign, but not 2 or 3. The deluxe edition comes with a bunch of escalation missions, which are extremely short missions where you have to kill the target in a specific way with specific conditions. These just piggyback off of main story maps and don't add anything new so i do not recommend paying so much for these. It also comes with some extra cosmetics you probably won't care about, as well as two bonus story missions; the big meat of this pack. While these two missions are great, you don't need to buy the deluxe edition for them! You can buy these separately under the DLC "HITMAN 3 access pass: HITMAN 2 expansion". Of course, you can play through the game until you reach these missions before deciding if you want to buy it or not. You will need this DLC for 100% achievement completion, however. TLDR; "HITMAN World of Assassination" Is the option you will want to buy. The DLC "HITMAN 3 access pass: HITMAN 2 expansion" gives you access to two more story missions. If you don't know if you want the DLC, you can play through the game until you reach those missions to see if you would want it. If you wish to get all the achievements, you will need this DLC to do that, but nothing extra. Lastly, get the game on sale! There is no need to pay 70 bucks for this game. You can frequently find this game on sale for less than half as much.Show moreShow less
I got suckered in by the "-90% off" at first. Don't be fooled; do your research on this one. This is the first time I've reviewed a game without giving the gameplay a fair shot, but here goes: I installed this just to leave a review to tell IOI to go !@#$ themselves for this game's egregious monetization. !@#$ you for making me think I was actually buying most of the game when I guess I just got part ($30 for an inferior version of the game and they want $70 MORE for the full game), !@#$ you for not making it EVEN CLEARER and easy for people to buy/gift and play your game, and more importantly !@#$ you for splitting this into 4 versions plus 13 DLC (half are hidden/buried) plus Deluxe Pack purchases, and most importantly !@#$ you for not listening to your community and making this scummy !@#$ right. Just look at the !@#$ing reviews for nearly every piece of content associated with this game. What the actual !@#$ is with this Part One bull!@#$? Just have three versions of the game and make ALL DLC available to purchase separately. Stop making your returning/loyal/upgrading players pay for content they've already purchased. I've been trying to buy a more-or-less "complete" version of Hitman 3/WoA for years, and I hear amazing things about Freelancer mode, but I couldn't give a !@#$ after this buying experience and seeing what your other customers have to say. I'm sorry to the talented artists and programmers who clearly made a great game sadly buried in overly monetized anti-consumer business practices, making for one of the worst buying experiences in the industry, up there with EA, Ubisoft, and ActiBlizzKing.Show moreShow less
