Multiplayer is lacking the ability to specifically race your friends. The best you can do is try to start the level at the same time and see who gets the better time. Needs more functionality to start a race between players.Show moreShow less
Bought this for my 6 year old. He really likes it. I've sat and watched him play this every time and have been surprised by how fun it is to watch as well as play. Like all Klei games there's many hours of fun to be had with this title. Lets start with the basics: * I like the controls (WASD, spacebar and the occasional Ctrl) * I like the aesthetics - they makes sense in relation to the games theme * The sounds/music are fun and fitting * There is a plot kinda, it's more of a in-game world set up. As a kid you are either the toy or the kid pretending to be the character of the toy irl. It's all fun and harmless stuff with plenty of bios and comics to unlock to add flavour to each toy/character you can go. * There's loads (at least there seems to be) of cosmetics to unlock in-game without the need to spend additional money. Although my son hasn't played this game for a million plus hours it's clear as day the game isn't gonna change beyond either what he's already experienced or what I expect from experience and that's perfectly fine. A fun game that's good for all ages. EDIT: So I asked my son if he'd like to share anything since he's the one playing it, he had the following to share: Me (after explaining what a review and recommendation is) - "So would you recommend it?" My son - "Yes because it has a lot of erm like I like all the details and how quick you get items. I like how much characters you get and you can literally put silly hats on them and it's so funny. There's a lava one and I put a chicken head on him. You also get lots of levels when you get all the characters".Show moreShow less
I’ve played 2 hrs. I've beaten the gym, 3/4 of playground, and I’ve done the Costco level. I cannot recommend this game due to it feeling…..empty. Honestly, it is a VERY beautifully done game, but you can go onto TF 2, CSGO, and others game that have death run servers, for free, and youll find more there than in this game. The multiplayer aspect is you competing against your friends list. Unless you have friends, youll be watching ghosts that don’t pertain really to what you are doing. No playlists or modes for players to group up with. I feel like there could be a tag game implemented like in the mission but with real players. Instead of just being able to see other online players ghosts. This is what makes it feel soo empty. Its cool you can see them, but that doesn’t really make it “multiplayer”. Its only if you have friends to play with do you might get to experience this. The video on the store page shows 4 players running together butt that’s not how the real game is really played, especially if your going solo. Its 15 dollars for a beautiful death run game that feels like it could have more. If you want it, wait for sale. just my $0.02Show moreShow less
After 661.6 hours of playing this game I can finally write a review for this amazing game. The games been one of my favorites to ever release on steam. The dev team really hit the MARK on this one. And I hope it gets the sales it deserves. Community members some of the greatest too love you guys <3 Can’t wait to see the game grow upShow moreShow less
While Hot Lava has an interesting aesthetic and niche that I can appreciate, I've always felt that 3D platforming doesn't work as well when too much precision is involved. The game's first few worlds start out with complete precision being modest and variety being plentiful, with the name of the game being to find the fastest way to your goal via multiple routes. The climbing in this game is actually fairly fluid once you've adjusted, and once you're familiar with the layout, the runs can feel quite satisfying. The issue for me comes in when small, precise platforms become every other jump, and you start to rely on muscle memory as opposed to skill more and more often. This may be the main draw for some, but if I don't feel like it's at least possible for myself to pull it off in one run (whether I ever do or not), it makes a game start to feel grindy instead of difficult. 2D platforming tends to have it easier in this aspect, since you can only fall off the left and right side in juxtaposition to a pinpoint 3D landing pad. This game has some heart in it, but unless you're playing it with friends to rub scores in their faces, you may just feel like you're frustrating yourself to no avail. 5/10 There's a fine line between difficult and annoying that this game likes to walk, and I guess I'm just on the wrong side of the fence.Show moreShow less

The fact that you put a scroll jump in the settings for those who use the scroll wheel to jump like in the game of CSGO is really considerate of you.. I love you klei and all of the game you madeShow moreShow less
For the sale price it would have been a fun game to fill the time, but I have one big issue. By default you are opted into data collection in the settings menu. If you would like to turn that off, you will have to sacrifice the ability to play online and unlock cosmetics. In this PAID game, you are required to have your data harvested in order to play online. Ridiculous.Show moreShow less
