I was so happy at first, finally DA2 was on Steam, and with "FULL CONTROLLER SUPPORT!" Except it's not, and it doesn't. It's just like Ubisoft's bs Steam releases in that it requires Origin running in the background anyway, and the controller support tag is a COMPLETE lie. Neither this game nor Origins has controller support whatsoever, even though they both had console ports. DA2 especially has a very streamlined combat system that's perfect for a controller, but nope, they refused to include that functionality for the PC version, and now lie about its inclusion for this release. Don't buy this, or the DLC bundle that's more expensive than the base game (for some reason). At least Origins has the decency of having an Ultimate Edition that comes with everything. I had hoped EA was doing some good by releasing titles on Steam that they kept locked away in god awful Origin, but it's just a half-assed money grab for good PR.Show moreShow less
For the love of god DO NOT BUY THE FULL DLC VERSION, there is no need. Buy this much cheaper version and go to https://help.ea.com/ca/help/faq/dlc-for-classic-games/#dragonage where you can find click and download ALL the DLC to this game for FREE!. Its an official EA webpage. Do it and thank me afterwards with upvotes and awards :)Show moreShow less
You cannot play the game without going through the EA app which is notorious for not working. I can't even play the game.Show moreShow less
Please follow United Critics for quality reviews Dragon Age 2 Review Dragon Age: 2 is an action/fantasy RPG developed by Bioware & published by EA. Dragon Age: 2 marks the second major installment in the Dragon Age franchise, Dragon Age: 2 is the sequel to Dragon Age: Origins . The game was released in March 2011 for PC and console. Lore: To make Origins, BioWare dug up a tonne of backstory from their most brilliant writers. A new land was invented, branded with various religious,Kingdoms and clans with each of them having unique traits, and all of this carries on to the next games in the series, that being said the underlying plot of Dragon Age: 2 felt much more interesting & satisfying to me as compared to Dragon Age: Origins. Dragon Age: 2 beautifully incorporates the narrative Dragon Age: Origins to create its masterful plot. On one hand the overall story of Dragon Age: 2 could be summed up as “A Evil man wants to take over the world”, on the first glance this might portray this game as a typical “Good guy vs Bad guy” game but when you play the game you realize it is much more than just a typical story, Dragon Age 2 does everything beautifully and also at the same time manages pull all the right strings in order to create a immersive experience . It's still an epic RPG, as it still takes 50 hours to finish (that is, if you don’t get lost in the tonne of enjoyable side quests). It has still got a detailed, complex combat system, and it's still got a well-flushed out supporting cast. Dragon Age: 2 is still an RPG that carries its mythology proudly, it’s also very confident in its goal of cheating a complete and utter badass. YOU. Dragon Age II is a freaking HUGE game, Not in the usual sense of games length and big maps (although it's no slouch in those departments too), but in terms of its ambitious storytelling. Dragon Age: 2 is a game with a lot on its mind, a game that wants you to feel the weight of it’s history, It wants you to live through a story that spans a decade, taking you from being a helpless refugee to an professional badass. What’s new: Much like in Dragon age:Origins, Dragon Age II is quite a slow burn. The story takes place in form of three acts. You play as the protagonist names “Hawke”, who’s an inhabitant of Lothering,he flee away with his family from the Blight during the events of Dragon age: Origins. Escaping across the water to reach the neighbouring kingdom of Kirkwall along with thousands of other Ferelden refugees. And of course there is a huge variety of Dragons to spar with, and to our expectation There is quite a bit of fighting Dragons in between the acts, there multiple types of Dragons wondering around and causing destruction in the world of Dragon Age II, The dragons follow a particular lifecycle where they start as scronny little dragonlings and with time they grow bigger and stronger, this gives the game a sense on variety and this is a pattern that we can sense throughout the game. While fight with fierce dragons are few and far between it still is refreshing enough to keep us engaged. Meanwhile, the plot of the game then takes a time leap of three years to tell the story of how you rise from the once helpless refugee to a renounced local hero. Then there's another three year gap, after which you... (just to avoid major spoilers) Let's say that a lot of plot threads come together in a satisfying way. Set in the same world as Origins, Dragon Age II picks up the story right from where the previous game left , Dragon Age II will be immediately familiar to fans for the Dragon age: Origins. Gameplay/Graphics: BioWare's newest Dragon Age title, a game that deviates from its predecessor in just about each way possible, and moves toward another one of BioWare’s beloved franchise: Mass Effect. The Mass Effect-inspired modifications in Dragon Age II range from cosmetic to changes in core mechanics of the game. TL;DR you can think of Dragon Age II is more or less geared towards being console friendly, more action-RPG, and less open when compared to Origins, but thankfully the heart & soul of the game remains unchanged. You can still program the AI characters with particular subroutines and give them tasks that will cause them to activate the powers you want when you want, but I’m guessing that you'll spend most of your time in control of a single character, whacking enemies and unleashing your awesome set of powers upon them. Its is really easy to pick up and enjoy, and Your time spent between combat is enhanced considerably from the Dragon Age: Origins as now, characters are more fully fleshed and the storyline goes from "go-there-do-this-blah-blah" to one of the most compelling fantasy tales in video games. In short, the world building & writing that is being presented in Dragon Age: Origins is well thought out and is presented on a grand scale with great execution, which is a very good thing. And the game looks nice, too, with more colorful environments and much more details in character model, but that being said the character animations may not be up everyone's alley(ofcourse these things are totally subjective), as BioWare tried to do diverge from Dragon Age: Origins and went with a bit different art style, personally I like the presentation being implemented in Dragon Age II as it brings many new thing to the table.(like it makes environment more vibrant and higher fidelity). Conclusion: In the end, Dragon Age II is a game which is still loved by its fans for making a fantastic series even more accessible. I love its twisty story and fully flushed-out characters. It's easy to say that Dragon Age II is an overall improvement on Origins, and you can't deny that it's a bold step toward remaking the entire action-RPG genre. Dragon Age II is a must play for any & every RPG fan out there. Rating: 9/10 This game has been played on Origin platform before tested on Steam.Show moreShow less
False advertisement. This game is NOT the ultimate edition as it does not contain any of the DLC that has been unleashed for the game. Steam should rectify this as quickly as possible.Show moreShow less
I use to watch my grandson play Dragon Age II on X-box several years ago and enjoyed it very much. So he helped me set up a character and I was hooked. Now several years later I'm still playing all 3 dragon Age games and are waiting "patiently" for the next version. I really can't decide which I like the best.Show moreShow less
If you are going to do this do it right. Origins is a crap platform and the only reason this is even on Steam is because it is a crap platform people don't want to use and they are trying to reach a larger audience. If EA wants my money they can do this the right way and make it something that only requires Steam. I am comfortable giving EA a cut of the money but ONLY if they do it the right way. I am rating this negative and requesting a refund until we get it on Steam the way it should be.Show moreShow less

absolutely amazing game... ruined. requires ea app, no controller support, bad m+k controls, no access to the dlc, and all capped at 30fps. play it on a console 13 years ago for optimal experience.Show moreShow less
