You can ignore the bad reviews. The devs have already addressed the ones that actually have valid critiques. I literally read one review that was poor because the player couldn't beat one of the bosses. For crying out loud, your bland, callous, and disinterested lack of awareness does nothing but harm. I only ever played single player, but completed all campaigns and unlocked everything from the lore store. I cannot attest to the multiplayer. in my eyes everything has been approved upon from the first one. More Skills, another party member, more types of encounters, and new enemies. I love this sequel and its killing me that the reviews for this really well put together game are mixed. It is getting bashed for negligible reasons imo. Its a fully developed turn based strategy RPG for $25 that has added on to its original product in variety, strategy, and length. If you're complaining about cost, $25 USD for a fully developed game without game breaking bugs is literally the standard we should hope for. If you're complaining about difficulty, they literally allow you to adjust the difficulty like nearly every game ever. Here's a developer that engages with the community, finishes their games before launch, and addresses concerns and criticisms. If you love games at all you should be cheering on this developer and not bashing the hell out of it because it doesn't fit you're hyper-specific niche requirements for every game to have.Show moreShow less
Here are some frustrating issues that can be solved easily. 1. Do not make the combat camera static so we can see everything clearly as we see fit. Sometimes mobs' models are completely blocked by our characters. This wasn't an issue in FTK1 although the camera was static. So maybe change the camera position(?) 2. Add some mouse-over tooltip on some texts. (e.g:1. Class passives at character selection UI. 2. Definitely implement tooltips on pierce, daze etc. icons in combat screen. We are not gonna go to encyclopedia every single time. 3. What items are we going to have by default without the loadout.) 3. UI seems overly complicated with being so tiny and all over. (e.g: it took me some time to see the tiny little debuff icon that I applied on a mob. 4. Its hard for a new player to understand whose turn it is on world screen. 5. Menus are overlapped on each other and making it impossible to manage them. Sometimes my co-op partner's menu screen prevents me to control my screen (e.g: he reached the night market and market's window blocked my UI) 6. In combat screen, if it is not my turn, there is no way I can check the mob's debuff, resist, health and so on, I cant do anything whatsoever, I don't see the point of this. I feel completely pushed out of a game until it is my turn. Let me spectate with some actions I can make like mouse overing on a mob and see its status. 7. About the movement from tile to tile, I might be looking too much into this but I felt like in FTK1, the AI guided you better when you move from point A to B if you have a mob between you and your destination. It tried to avoid the tile with the mob in it and assisted you to move around. The problem here is,there are so much textures in FTK2's world and i ended up running in to mobs because Ii cant see them in this pile of textures. Maybe make these occupied tiles more visible? 8.Some balancing issues (which will be solved in time I assume) 9.Can I close inventory windows etc when I press Esc? Here,Esc opens the menu window and I need to close every single screen with clicking X. These are my personal opinions to have a less frustrating gaming experience. I love the game and i wish to change my review to a positive. Going back to FTK1 for now.Show moreShow less
They literally fixed 99% of the bugs in the first 48 hours of release so I think it deserves the good review now because its basically For The King but now you can have 4 people instead of 3.Show moreShow less
Game's good. Essentially the first game but with more content and extra combat tactics. However, I cannot possibly fathom some of the UX and UI decisions that have made it into this final release. Here are my biggest gripes: - The amount of missing tooltips. Some elements have tooltips that expands into details whilst holding shift (this is nice). Some elements have tooltips without being able to see important details (not nice). Some elements are completely devoid of tooltips (confusing bs). - If you're confused about something, there's an encyclopedia in the esc menu. But it is a complete mess with a badly implemented search function. And good luck looking something up you don't know the name of because the thing you're confused about doesn't have a tooltip to inform you of its name. - Graphics overlaying other important graphics or numbers. As often as you want a tooltip or overlay describing something, just as often will an unwanted overlay be present which cannot be closed down, and this is sometimes covering up other characters' information. -Clunky menus in multiplayer. Wanna bring up your inventory? You almost always end up opening someone elses. Wanna sell items with your homies? Selling something closes down other players' menus so it's like a little tedious race between players to sell something as multiple interactions across characters apparently cannot be handled simultaneously. - The camera. No mouse dragging the map, it can only be moved with WASD. Often when you click someone or something the camera will spring to a new position. Camera also seems somewhat unresponsive at times, especially in multiplayer. - Cluttered design. With the new double row feature, a lot more information fills the screen in combat. Sometimes enemies disappear behind other enemies as the battle camera is static. Placement of things such as buffs/debuffs seems very inconsistent, and the lack of info about these status effects is another UI nightmare. There is a lot to unpack from this launch. Despite all its flaws me and the boys had some fun. The core game still has a lot to enjoy and ranting about the design became a running joke. I really want to see the user experience and design get some love so that it will become a sequel worth recommending.Show moreShow less
Finally I can have 3 friends not buy this instead of 2! THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!Show moreShow less
Right now I cannot recommend this game. The bugs aside, the "time is running out" counter which has replaced the Scourge timer means that there is little-to-no room for side quests. It is a horribly unfun mechanic which takes a lot of choice out of the game. You need to rush objectives or your run will automatically fail, where Scourge events would disadvantage you but also add to the intensity of your decision making. Like the lack of polish, this feels like there was simply not enough development time to add similar Scourge events, leading to the addition of this worthless timer. I can only hope it is a placeholder to be revised in future patches.Show moreShow less
The reviews for this game are mixed because frankly, the game launched in an extremely buggy borderline broken state. However, the developers have demonstrated that they care about this game and have consistently addressed issues as they have arisen. If you enjoyed For the King 1 the game is now in a state where I would be happy to recommend. It is a significant improvement over the first game, significantly more content and a much deeper combat system than the previous. While I believe some of the initial poor reviews were warranted, the developers have shown that they care about the game and their players. Do not be scared off by the initial reviews, this is an excellent co-op game and is worth picking up!Show moreShow less
This is the first game I've ever played with a solid combat and resource management system, deep and cool item management, etc. that I've given a negative review to. Why? BECAUSE I CAN'T HOVER OVER YOUR UI TO TELL WHAT A BUFF OR DEBUFF DOES? I GO TO BUY A PET, YOU SHOW ME THE ATTACKS OF THE PET, AND I CAN'T SEE WHAT THEY DO BEYOND THE ATTACK NAMES? I HAVE TO OPEN THE ENCYCLOPEDIA AND SCROLL FOR 10 MINUTES IN MY COOP MULTIPLAYER GAME? It'd be a fine game if the experience of playing it wasn't somehow more cumbersome than any similar title from 15 years ago, constantly running into QOL issues that even solo dev wouldn't make.Show moreShow less
I've never been more disappointed . . .with the gaming community. The fact that these developers released the game and people rated it bad immediately. They released 7 updates in 3 days to fix the issues they had on release. most of the issues were balancing and multiplayer but nothing I experienced made me think man, this game needs to be rated bad. The game feels fresh. they took the first game and added content and a new look at combat with the grid system. There's so many different things to unlock to give you tons of options for each play through you want to run. Honestly a great game if it's your style of game.Show moreShow less
game is in terrible state in multiple areas and it needs a lot more patches balance-its nightmare-loot is literally nonexistent, npcs are extremly strong compared to you; performance-frequent stutters; we played as 4 friends and first time we started game, we spend 20minutes trying to join into the game, we had multiple crashes, errors with loading into the game, broken UI which needed to restart game, which lead to not being able to join into the game; you cant even report bug because of broken api service; ui is bloody terrible compared to FTK; cant close inventory with esc; cant look into the market while its not your turn; in combat you cant check mobs debuff/resist and so on and you have to just stare at screen until its your turn; this is a big NO and if I could, would definetly refund the game save your money dont buy this game until its properly fixed EDIT1: I really really like that devs are communicating with players and are actively fixing issues. I feel like we as players have impact on game we love, which is great. Keep up good work and we will enjoy this game. Few more issues I forgot in first review: -queensguards-they dont drop a single piece of loot, why ?? -passives-non-existent-in our first play session of 5,5hours, this is a list of how many times were our passives activated *Steadfast* - A SINGLE TIME(we had blacksmith friend with shield and one hand whole play session), *Find Herbs* - TWO TIMES(our herbalist), *Craft Scroll* - NOT A SINGLE TIME(our scholar); *Called Shot* - this was the only passive that was active numerous times and imo this is only balanced passive -gold/loot-needs serious buffs-problem is, that loot is same(or even less) as in FTK1, which means that if you play as 4 people you cant get enough of gold and loot, example: in first play session we had blacksmith that bought 2 armor pieces and he could not afford any herbs, because we had to funnel all of our gold into one person so at least one of us was fully equipped, that makes you being forced to play with 3 or less people, which doesnt make any sense, main selling point of FTK2 is to play with more friends, why am I now being punished for playing with friends ?? -experience-needs scaling adjustment for 4 people, again you are forced to play with less people, and being punished for playing with more people -main quest-has to be rushed, there is so little time, that you have put everything aside and just rush it and even then you can make it barely in time, this would needs few more balance changes As I said in start, Im happy that devs started to adressing these issues but there is a still long way to go..Show moreShow less
