Love this game but, there are some major flaws that need to be addressed. Now this is gonna be a major yapfest, but that's only because I love this game and want it to be better than it currently is. Too Many Currencies: This game early on was originally planned to be a gacha game and many elements of that still remain. There are so many different currencies and different stores to buy different things, such as equipment, kits, special moves, etc. Getting most of them is RNG and none of the ingame stores have everything so you will HAVE to farm tokens to get those special moves you want. Crazy Idea, but what if... We just had one currency for each gamemode? I can't be expected to try for a random chance at 8 riceballs for some shoes when I gotta equip my whole team. It honestly felt like they were planning to have a paid currency that applied for everything, but since they canned the idea of this being a full on gacha game they scrapped that idea but the garbage token system remained. Chronicle Mode: It's exhausting to play. You may not feel it in the beginning, but eventually you realize, "Oh. I gotta do every match TWICE to continue." The idea is you first play as the original team the scenario had, heavily scripted. After beating that you then use your own team to do the same match except now it's not scripted. Now I used to flip flop between Story and Chronicle mode to avoid fatigue if I got too tired of one. But I've since beaten story and now I sometimes turn my brain off in some Chronicle matches which is not a good thing. Possible solution? Have us only needing to do Chronicle Battle to unlock the next match and unlock ALL the difficulties of the match we just beat. I'm gonna go back to farm anyway. Just don't make it mandatory for us to do 2 of the same match for every match just to progress. They've made it so if you score enough points in the first half you can skip the remaining game. Good change. Bond Stars: Bond Stars are the currency for the Gacha. The currency itself is fine, but getting them is the issue. The only way to consistently get them is via online matches which gives 5 per match(5 Bond stars let you run the Gacha once which gives you 12 characters each). In Chronicle mode doing the max difficulty option, Hero Battle only has a CHANCE at giving you like 2 Bond Stars. This is terrible. Do they not realize that some people on Console don't have online subscriptions? Those people have no consistent way of farming the Gacha currency. Make 5 Bond stars the minimum reward for completing max difficulty matches so that everyone has a way to farm. Keshins/Hyper Skills not accessible: In order to purchase Keshins like Lancelot or Maestro you need to fully complete Inazuma Eleven Go's Chronicle route. That is way too long to be able to obtain them. Now some Keshins are available in the marketplace, but those are mostly Special and Movie Keshins. It does not make sense that we can get those, but not the Chess Keshins until beating the Go Chrono Stones Route. How about we make the respective Keshins available after beating the relevant teams in Chronicle Mode? You beat Black Templars? Now Lancelot and Maestro are available. You beat Pirate's Cove? Now you can get Pegasus, Poseidon and any other Keshin that appeared in that match. The Grind: This game is overly grindy. I already mentioned it with the various currencies, but your endgame wall is going to be beans. Especially if you like using various different characters. Beans buff your character's stats and are required to rank up players to the next rarity. Even if you've gotten the best team and given them all the beans they need, you'd still need more to rank up other players because you trade in Legendary tier players to get special moves and Keshins. And you'd need 5 of one player which is VERY difficult to focus farm. My solution? The training and soccer matches to get beans only give them in small amounts. How about letting use sacrifice Spirits(Players) we don't want to convert them into beans? The higher the rarity, the more beans they give. Many players have mentioned that they have no use for spare Hero tier characters they get so this would be a good way to give them use. I still love this game, but it could be better. The Gacha blood is dense in this game and it takes away from a really great Inazuma Eleven game. The story was fantastic and grounded, no world ending stakes, just overcoming adversary. Gameplay is fantastic and I love all the new special moves(Though some are just reskins). I genuinely hope that the things I mentioned are addressed and fixed because they are problems that need to be sorted. I can greatly recommend this game to Inazuma Eleven fans who were fiending for a game for years, but for the general audience? It's a maybe due to the reasons I pointed out. Should the things I mentioned be fixed, I'll adjust my review. EDIT: In the newest update they've completely removed manager and coordinator customization. One of the most braindead decisions I've ever seen.Show moreShow less
I don't like soccer. I'd never heard of Inazuma Eleven. This is one of the best RPG's I've ever played in my life. It's got *so much* content in it. I mean really, it's kind of boggling. The sports aspect is super fun, because it's totally epic anime battles with soccer. The free gatcha system is fun. There's..I don't even know how many players you can unlock. Each with their own skill trees, etc. There's a Chronicles Mode that just..lets you take your team and go 'back in time' to play through the stories of the show, I think? AND get chances to unlock the characters for YOUR team. Oh, there's also a town building simulator..thing? I've loved LEVEL5 Inc. from playing Fantasy Life. This cements them as one of the best game developers in my eyes. Ever. You don't have to like soccer. You don't have to know a thing about the series. Just jump in, have patience to learn the systems. And you'll be as blown away as I was.Show moreShow less
I gave up on this game before the galaxy update fyi so if anything that is written here is no longer accurate please tell me. I like many people had awaited this game for years, I have played every other Inazuma Eleven game without missing any, watched every episode and spin off of the anime again and again I even bought the deluxe edition and everything. Unfortunately I cannot recomand this game to both new players and fans alike. I'll list things that I like, that I dislike and the dealbreaker for me that makes this review a negative one. First the good: - The game looks good, the models are good with more body variety than in prior games and the new animations are just as polished as the old ones - The music is great - The new gameplay during matches is satisfying and a welcome change from the gameplay of the DS/3DS games. Clearly one of the saving grace of this game. - The amount of content is quite impressive (in pure numbers that is) - The "everyone is here" selling point is mostly respected (the few non returning characters/moves are missing for purely legal reasons) - the dubbing during matches is nice Now the bad: - A bunch of kits are missing - The new story mode is quite boring, the story itself is good but I'm not a fan of the minigame heavy aproach that the devs took during training segments - The scouts (aka players that aren't from a team you've not seen in the anime) have basicaly no moveset to speak of (just one basic skill and one special move) whereas they had full ones in the prior games (including keshins and rare moves on some wich made for a realy nice surprise when you found one); that wouldn't be much of an issue if it wasn't for the biggest problem of this game that I'll touch on in a bit. - The online mode has no matchmaking (or at least very bad matchmaking), if you're starting expect to get jumped by someone with a max level every every now and then), and that's when you don't run into someone with a team with full custom leveled up movesets that they built when the game had duplication glitches. - There are no scout teams at all. The competitions routes of the old games being replaced by the chronicle mode means that you won't see an original team made of scouts. - The new passives are poorly balanced and creating your "dream team" that will win you anything in ranked is more or less impossible at high. The meta is to focus on the singular specific passive that's currently broken (and the characters that have it) and start from zero when it gets gutted next patch. Not like the old games had a varied meta but I was expecting more since Victory road has a propper online mode - The new skill tree type progression for your players if good on paper but is also very limiting as you need to sacrifice a "blank slot" (that you'd use for a special mechanic like a keshin) to give a player a type of move that dosen't fit their position (like giving a dribbling move to a goalkeeper). Imo the old "six move slots by player that can be any you want" was better - The chronicle mode is very reppetitive with the need to play the "scenario" and then play the match again with your team gets old quick especialy since your team gets overleveled very quickly - You only have a few (like 8) possible generic formations for your team in this game when you could have anime acurate ones in the old games and each important team had their own formation plus a few generic ones. Yes some of those where silly and not very usable but at least they gave your team (and your opponents') more of an identity Finaly the dealbreaker: This game is a grindfest, everything costs so much and there are so many currencies (don't have the exact number but it's in the 15-20 range) that you need so much of to buy anything. You basicaly need ten times too much of everything to buy even a basic special move or tactic. Most of my time in this game as been spend grinding either chronicle mode or free matches to get new moves for my characters. The only way I can rationalize that this is the case is that the game started development as F2P with micro transactions (and at this point I would have liked it better if this was the case). Take every negative points I've mentioned and add to it that you won't get that special move or player you like without spending hours playing a singular game mode on repeat until the rng drop of the currency you want decides to be generous enough to let you buy one move you want (wich you need multiple of to level it up). It's even worse than the gacha of IE3 and the player cards from the GO games because now every single aspect of this game feels like it was made to waste your time. In the GO games wich were the grindiest games before Victory road, specifics teams, gear or players often needed multiple items that could be obtained in friendly matches or in specific places in the overworld to be recruited but at least you had those items ad vitam once you got them once and the special moves/gear while more limited and/or rare (as in not every move having a teachable item form meaning some moves couldn't be thought or only thought a few times by savefiles kinda like in old pokemon games) could all be bought with one singular curency when found in a shop or found in chests. The new gacha system wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the fact that player rarity was a thing and that you needed even more currencies (yes plural) just to level that up on top of having to level up their regular level, their special moves and so on you get the idea. TLDR You'll like Victory Road if you like doing the same thing over and over and have the next ten years of your life to commit to it and it alone or if you completly disregard the online mode and only play with important characters without wanting to change their movesets. I hope the currencies of this game gets some sort of overall to be closer to the old games as it is in my opinion a marathon worth of steps backward even when compared to even the very first Inazuma Eleven that came out 18 years ago. It drags all the other systems of the game down with it and makes it feel like your time isn't respected.Show moreShow less

the option to change between the english / japanese character names clearly showed that they knew a non-zero % of their fanbase came from people watching fansubs of the anime growing up, and you can feel that attention to detail and their love of the series' fans in every single aspect of this game. the 9 years spent waiting for this game couldn't had been more worth it, man.Show moreShow less
Good singleplayer experience. Terrible matchmaking, horrific multiplayer ranked experience. Ranks do not matter, in the bottom rank there are people with no lives and 9000 hrs spent grinding with impossibly strong teams and fabled characters as well as level 1 people who seem to have no clue how to play. For the extremely high price, I expect everything to be perfect, therefore I cannot recommend this game at this price. If you want to play with friends or singleplayer only, then getting this game at 40-50% off may be worth it to you.Show moreShow less

I used to fall in love with every game Level5 released. Such wonderful handcrafted games full of effort and passion. Whimsical worlds, lovable characters, beautiful soundtracks. Inazuma Eleven might still be my favorite franchise of all time. But it seems Level5 has now entered an era of huge delays and soulless AI slop. Looking at other releases like Fantasy Life and Professor Layton, it seems they dont know what made these games great or how to even make games like these anymore. It seems like they just cant seem to get a single thing right anymore. After going through development hell for 10 years they released a game where all the beloved RPG mechanics have been swapped out for gacha nonsense. The balancing is wonky. The upscaled models dont look great and the different generations of models look incoherent and just dont blend well together. The new content is quite lacking. Less than half of teams have any new moves or backstory. The bulk of the game consist mostly of insane amounts of grinding. It is quite easy, even for a casual player, to come up with improvements to the game. With the new gacha system and the ability to have thousands of variants and builds, how there is no favoriting system absolutely boggles me. I waited another 6 months after release for improvements. But each "DLC" I am more and more confused by the things that Level5 are choosing to focus on. I just dont feel like praising each small step taken, when there is no focus on fixing bigger issues. Well, I guess ill see you in another 10 yearsShow moreShow less
