A solid port that people will sadly pass on due to the reputation of NISA. It runs flawlessly with no issues at 60 FPS. I am dumbfounded by how good this port is. A substantial upgrade from the GameCube version. As for the game itself, this is one you have to play to truly experience. The store description will do a better job at explaining it than I ever could. Some info for you guys: It is a true PC port that runs flawlessly. Works comfortably with both KBM and Controller. All bindings are configurable for both. Despite the rumours and the first announcement trailer for the game, it does NOT run on Dolphin nor is it in any way similar to Dolphin. I've played killer7 on Dolphin four times over. They are nothing alike. From what I hear, the devs that worked on this port are not associated with devs from NISA's past ports. You can be sure that this one is great. NISA are actively ironing out any issues a very small amount of people are having. If you see the Troubleshooting section of the Community Hub, they are responding quickly and concisely to fix any issues users may face. A patch was pushed out a mere few hours after release to fix some users not being able to start the game. Harman is a smelly old man. Absolutely worth the price and more. I hope anybody who buys it for the first time thoroughly enjoys it. Have fun! P.S. Those of you that love the game on GC but are hesitant buying on PC, Suda51 wants to do a sequel to this game. How well the remaster sells could depend on that also. Show your love for the franchise and you may just get a sequel. <3Show moreShow less

This may or may not be a sex ad. I don’t know yet. It’s not important. What is important is that I need a young man, between 18 and 29, to get over here and spend many hours of his time playing killer7 on my GameCube, because it’s brilliant, and because no ♥♥♥♥ he ever sucks or strokes or receives will ever be as important as experiencing killer7. I am offering you the chance to improve your life, at no cost to you aside from some of your time. I expect this to be ongoing, because killer7 is way too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ long (it took me ~20 hours to clear) and you simply must see the ending. It’s a deliciously demented mental orgasm. You must be at least 18 because killer7 is an M-rated game featuring extreme violence and adult themes. You must be no older than 29 because killer7 is the voice of our generation, and the surrealistic sociopolitical dialogue cutscenes interspersed with shallow rail shooting will surely not resonate with middle-aged audiences outside of Japan. You must be a man because uhhhhhhhhhhh videogames. All those naked pictures of me are because I may or may not be naked during this. You are not here for me. You are here to play killer7, and only to play killer7, and you must not let me distract you from killer7. It’s a singleplayer game so I will not be playing it with you. I might watch you. I might rub you. I might blow you. I might take a shower with the door open. I might fall asleep. I might play a different videogame or read a book. I might leave my apartment and go somewhere to eat. Don’t expect anything out of this other than to be amazed by killer7. If you seem awkward and unwilling to fully immerse yourself in Suda51’s wacky and wonderful cel-shaded post-9/11 fantasyland, I will turn you away. Serious replies ONLY. The game itself received a new update, which included many changes/fixes like adding new button prompts for other controllers/keyboard and mouse and many other fixes. One of these new changes was adding improved cutscenes, which replaced the lower quality PS2 cutscenes with the higher quality Gamecube ones. This would have been a good change, if it wasn't for the fact that these cutscenes were all awfully AI upscaled. The AI tool that was used here makes the cutscenes look like they were smeared with vasoline and even makes certain static elements in the cutscenes look worse. I think other part of the game could also be upscaled, though I am not sure about that. Putting out a worse version of a release like this almost 6 years after the release isn't the right move and I hope that the developers revert back to using original Gamecube (or even PS2) cutscenes as this game doesn't deserve this at all. EDIT1: Yeah looks like some textures are also upscaled. Again, please revert them back. EDIT2: Looks like the port developers have responded and are saying that they're adding options to turn the upscaled graphics on and off. I'll update my review once the new update is out. EDIT3: The developers have luckily taken the feedback well and have added a new option to turn these upscaled cutscenes on and off. Though with some testing of my own, the upscaled textures still remain with no way to revert them back. Hopefully there's an update being worked for that.Show moreShow less
Great game but the last patch added AI-upscaled textures and cutscenes, some of which look substantially worse than before. To fix this, either delete a folder called "Replacement" (this does not revert the AI-upscaled cutscenes, only the textures) or roll back to the previous version of the game (this removes the arguably good QoL changes). Hopefully the developers can add a toggle somewhere to revert the game to the original textures and cutscenes or actually do a good job upscaling them instead of whatever the hell they did now.Show moreShow less
The only thing that might keep you going is the story, the game play is atrocious. It is essentially a rail shooter. There are puzzle elements but they mostly consist of go get something from somewhere else and bring it here. It also will tell you exactly how to solve the puzzles if you don't want to think. The shooting gets old after a while. Especially after killing two ghosts, waiting 30 seconds for the next area to load, getting an item and bringing it back, waiting 30 seconds to load previous area again, and then killing the same two ghosts. If you're here, it's probably because you've heard how great and underrated this game is. Perhaps you heard how arty and revolutionary it is. All you need to know, really, is this: it's only just barely a game. The art direction is fantastic; it has an awe-inspiring look that is fully unified. The cutscenes and the gameplay are all very interesting to watch. Unfortunately, the look, it seems, was the most important aspect to the designers, and everything else suffers. The gameplay is this: hold a button. Got it? Just hold that button, and you walk in the one direction you are allowed to. Then, when you hear a laugh track, stop holding it, and push another button. Then look around for an enemy, and shoot them. Then just hold that button again. The only times you are able to change direction are at crossroads, which unnecessarily slows down moving around the game's endless hallway. The hallway is dressed up as all sorts of things, even the outdoors, but you might as well be in a 3' wide hall for all the movement you are allowed. Had the character had freedom of motion, this might have actually been a fun game, but as it is, it's a chore. Finally, to get any information from your dead assistant who appears every few minutes, you have to click through him saying "Master", then "We're in a tight spot." After that, you can read what he has to say. This doesn't sound like a problem, but the 5th time you've had to do it in the space of 3 minutes, you'll do what I did - take the game out of the console, put it away, and never go back. There have been games that had fantastic art direction and told a memorable tale, but they are remembered because they were fun to play as well. Play those games, not Killer 7.Show moreShow less

Before October 25, 2024, this was an incredible port of a cult classic given the respect it deserved, with plenty of quality of life additions and surprisingly well implemented mouse/keyboard controls. Unfortunately, some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ decided the game looked too good and ruined all of the FMVs and textures with AI upscaled slop. Stop trying to cut out real jobs with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI, and stop being ashamed of games looking "old". Do not support. Edit: An update on November 7th added the ability to switch back to the old FMVs, but the AI upscaled textures are still being forced upon people. Additionally, the alternative videos are still the poorly compressed PS2 versions, rather than the GameCube movie files the developers apparently based the AI upscales on. If you buy this port, you still need to rely upon fan fixes to get the ideal experience.Show moreShow less

As you probably know, an update for killer7 on Steam added mandatory, comically-terrible, AI-upscaled cutscenes and textures you only now are able to turn on or off in the configuration tool. However, I don't even see an option to disable the texture "upscales" that Engine Software said they added after getting dumped on by everyone. So, a blatant lie from them about separate toggles being added for the movies and in-game textures. Maybe turning off the AI cutscenes turns off the texture sh*ttification as well, but it's not been communicated clearly whatsoever. So unfortunately, any celebration that could have been had over the QoL additions, bug fixes, and inconsistency-addressing, which are good, was demolished by this situation. Engine Software, in their infinite wisdom, also responded to complaints about them ruining the game's visuals on Twitter like swearing children who didn't seem able to grasp why anyone was mad at them in the first place. This was done via nonsensical deflection of the concerns with a "we're leaving the upscaling in the game as an option because some people enjoyed it" (no, no one did) and "some people told us the only true way to experience k7 is on a sh*tty CRT TV" (first of all, CRTs are not "sh*tty," and yes, that would be a far-superior way to play the game than with your awful AI-ification update). They also directly @'d Game Rant to try and get them to remove mention of the negative Steam review wave from their article. I am not making this up. So professional, guys! F*cking embarassing.Show moreShow less
