The plot is interesting and the movie itself is very well done. But if you do wish to see it to the end, pray to always choose the "correct" answers, because if you don't, you'll have to start all over again with no way to skip already viewed scenes. I, for example, played for almost an hour, then made a wrong choice and died. For me to get back to the point I was and be able to change my choice and continue the story, I'll have to play again for an hour seeing the same stuff and making the same choices as before. And if I die again before reaching the end, I'll have to see it all over again. Not exactly fun. Do you know when people complain when in games you die on a boss and have to watch the whole cutscene again to face him? It's like that, but this time you have to watch the whole game again. I don't know if it's laziness on the dev's part, or an artificial way of saying that you'll need X hours to see everything, but in a gameplay perspective, it's a gigantic fault. A simple "skip to next decision" on scenes you already saw would be enough.Show moreShow less

Can't Shift Right... Late Shift is a good interactive movie. High production values, good acting, entertaining B movie plot. Interesting choices, albeit slightly limited. But it's lacking one thing, one little thing, a core feature which all games and movies alike should have, one thing that players have been asking for since release, to no avail. The game/movie does not have a fast forward button, or a replay from chapter X feature. If you want to make a different choice and watch the consequence. You will have to play the whole movie again, from the very start, no skipping. Want to get all 8 endings? Watch the whole 2 hour game 8 times. Or more like double that because you will make mistakes. I have watched the game about 5 times now and got 4 different endings, and it was good the first couple of times, but this is all I can stomach. The lack of fast forward is very frustrating - you wouldn't buy a DVD wihout it - and completely negates the replay value of what would otherwise have been an excellent game. A real shame.Show moreShow less
Late Shift game is one of the exciting games/movies I've watched/played this year. It's not just a game but it's a movie too, an interactive movie. Every choice in the game matters. I felt the intensitivty grew as I knew that ''This is where I have to choose very carefully'' I hardly could sit still at those moments. The game has 7 endings. And every route lasts about the same length as an average movie, aprox 1h 30 min. If you plan on playing it, I highly recommend you play your route from start to finish. (It has a save feature if you want to continue it later) All in all. Every path has a good story. It doesn't look like a low-bugdet film. The acting is very good, presenting us talented actors most of us probably haven't heard of. The cinematography is pretty good too and it's very well made. In my eyes, it doesn't look like an amateur made film. If you feel like watching a movie tonight, give this one a try! I hope to see more releases from the creators.Show moreShow less
It's a fun movie, but a rather tedious game. It's rather tough for me to give this a negative review, but the replay-ability value it's limited due to severe flaws to game design and the length of the game being 50-60 minutes long with repetitive choices and unskippable cutscenes. First time you watch-play through Late Shift, you're sucked into it by how good the actors are, the cinematography, the writing, the heart-pounding but rather limited soundtrack and the far-reaching consequences of your decisions. Every single actor performed rather well throughout the entire movie, every scene was spectacularly made and thrilling. I have no grudge with the story other than some decisions being rather ambiguous and thus ending with you in some undesired aftermath. Overall, a fun movie to watch that keeps you engaged with sudden, often quick choices to it. ^ This only applies to the first time you beat the game. However, once you start your second "playthrough" and onwards, the game shows every single flaw it has in storage. For starters, you cannot skip or fast-forward scenes in any way. The moment this sinks in, Late Shift becomes frustration at it's finest, with the "player" getting stuck watching the same scenes over and over and OVER again if you want to reach the 7 different endings. Secondly, the game is not exactly open-ended and imaginative with it's choice-consequence mechanics. It's written to be very linear, with your decisions not being about what kind of person you are and how that ends you where, but rather you getting "keys" to unlock certain endings by making the right decisions at the right time. It doesn't matter how hard you try to avoid the events you know are going to happen from the beginning, how much attention you pay to the story, how fast can you think and react, nothing. It's all about how lucky you were to have picked that particular choice at the right time, and then the next one, and the next one after it. A lot of them you can deduct by using your own reasoning, but others feel like the kind of thing you couldn't possibly have known unless you reload and try again. When I realized this, the thrill of finding all endings just disappeared entirely for me. I'd rather spend an hour watching someone else play this on YT than getting frustrated over seeing one-to-three different scenes in the entire movie, especially when I got to sit down and watch the very exact same scenes I've already watched unfold for the third time. Third is the lack of any way to manually save your progress, even if you've beaten the game once. Your game crashed? Time to see the entire movie again. You missclicked and want to go back? Too bad, restart the entire movie. Hey, you've beaten the game and want to explore all your options? Go ♥♥♥♥ yourself, you need to rewatch the entire movie. I give Late Shift a 5/10. Pretty interesting for the one time you play it, but unremarkable past the first playthrough. If they add additional options to the game, it might be worth getting. But right now it's just way more fun watching someone else play the movie for you.Show moreShow less
TAKE A LOOK AT THIS IF NEGATIVE REVIEWS HAVE DISCOURAGED YOU TO GET THIS GAME: Great game! Great acting, awesome cinematography and all. Trust me, you will get your money's worth even at full price. Choices do matter - some not so much and some are game changing. Now, i want to adress some concerns of people writing negative reviews. They often as a downsides mention that scenes are unskippable and a lot of choices don't matter in relation to final ending. Now... that is true. Choices up until ~70% of the game don't contribute to the ending. However... 1) some these choices are more of the aestetic thing - they add to the atmosphere making it more believable. Example would be a different text line or reaction of certain character. 2) some choices lead you to a lot of new unseen chapters that turn a movie you have seen before a lot more fresh. I agree that some parts are repeated, but you get so much extra that you might as well say you saw a different movie. 3) some choices are clues to you (the player) to figure out some extra endings. Now i would like to adress the "unskippable" part. If you really want to marathon this game, i can help. This game autosaves, but it autosaves only at the begining of the chapter. So if you didn't like the way your chapter turned out - go to "pause" --> "exit game" --> "resume game" to start chapter again. This will speed your marathon up. Yes in this game you can't not skip from choice to choice, chapter to chapter - but i believe that this is done because this game is not intended to play over and over again without taking some time off. I highly encourage you to take this game more like as a movie. Where you watch it... and then go watch it again after a week or month because you feel like it. That way you get an ultimate movie for only 13 euros. I can guarante you that this way you'll get maximum enjoyment out of this game! Finally, plotholes... don't worry about them. It won't ruin the fun - you won't even notice them until after three or more playthroughs.Show moreShow less
The story was engaging, if the acting did seem a little wooden in places (mainly the action sections, you can see them pulling the punches). The usual issue of clicking an option and having the character go WAY harder than you were expecting shows up (ie: the typical press X to doubt turning into "F**K YOU I WILL MURDER YOUR FAMILY IF YOU LIE TO ME"). This isn't game breaking but it is a pity this keeps popping up in various games. The REAL killer is when you go back to play it a second time, to get a different ending. You find that there is no scene skip. No ability to jump to different chapters. No fast forward of any kind. You need to sit through the entire experience all over again in order to make (often minor) changes. This game does not earn this kind of expectation on the audiences time. The reward is not worth the investment. In short, until they implement a skip feature, don't bother.Show moreShow less
I wish more studios would attempt this style of storytelling.Show moreShow less
PUT IN A SKIP COMMAND. It is beyond boring to go through some of the same "chapters" half a dozen times or more to unlock 30 seconds of additional footage. Overall it was decent, the story is whacko and the choices are interesting to say the least. A lot of the decisions were just illusion of choice and led to the same thing. It was okay.Show moreShow less
