Warning: Ignore ALL troll reviews that will downvote this game just because it's missing X-Men and Fantastic 4. If you're going to read a review, it should be from someone who isn't stuck on the characters that are missing but the quality of content and the actual experience the game provides. ▪How many hours does my hard-earned cash get me? If you played the first game, you probably know that it easily gave you 40-100 hours worth of stuff to do. I'm happy to say that this game goves you 120-200 hours worth of stuff if you want to 100% the game. The game basically has twice the content of the first game. ▪How is the character roster? Even though there are no X-Men or Fantastic 4, the roster is actually far better than any Marvel based Lego game before it (which had X-Men and F4, irony. The game is filled with characters mostly from from different eras of Marvel which makes sense since this is a time-travel/alternate universe themed game. Each character is given their own unique trading card in the character selection screen. Trading cards explain their origin, a backstory, etc. It's nice if you have any real interest in learning more about Marvel's history. There are easily 250+ characters, the roster for this game is massive. ▪What is the open world hub like? So there are 18 combined locations accessible in 1 huge open world. The game seemlessly combines and transitions into these by switching to different filters and music tracks. For example, when you spend time in Egypt, you'll have middle eastern music and a cinematic look then if you go to Man-Thing's Swamp, the game will switch to an 80's screen-grain filter and campy horror movie music. It really changes the mood and atmosphere and everything is fitting. ▪Do I need to watch the Marvel movies/shows before playing the game? No. The game's story is original, and completely non-linear. However, the dlc story packs are "inspired" by the movies and shows so you may want to watch them before playing the dlc's. ▪Wait... The storyline is non-linear? Yes, you heard right. Not only is this because the open world is completely accessible from the start but also because there are different paths of story you can take and different stories for different groups of heroes. ▪How has combat/character interactivity changed? While the combat still feels familiar, it's also been refined a bit. Combat is a bit more technical this time around. Now you have co-op or tag/team moves, and some characters even have special little quirky interactions, for example, baby Groot can ride on Rocket's shoulder and Rocket can ride on big Groot's shoulder. So interactivity is no longer dull and lifeless but adds some believability and immersion to the experience. ▪Are the graphics improved? Yes, as is expected. Not only because it's a newer Lego game but because this is one of the first Lego games made with newer gen of hardware in mind. It's a pretty huge deal and allows the devs to add more colors, textures, and everything else. ▪I've played some other Lego gamws before and had issues, is this one buggy? You are not likely to run into any bugs/glitches or other issues if your system is up to date on everything. My specs are on my profile, I'm playing on my secondary pc and haven't ran into any issues. ▪What of the multiplayer? I'm glad you asked! Tt Games has put alot of effort into interjecting some new MP modes and fortunately, they're not just gimmicks but make for their own party game. The new multiplayer portion was greatly inpsired by classic gem Powerstone 2. There are different modes but I'm not going to spoil what's all there. Full 4-player co-op or vs modes! In the vein of classic 90's era party games. What could suit Lego multiplayer better? ▪TL/DR? Too Bad/Don't Ask!!! The game is worth full price, your getting top quality content here. As always, keep your system updated and Lego games will run smoothly for you.Show moreShow less

If you played the first LEGO MARVEL Super Heroes, then this will feel like a big step down. The following changes have been made that make the game less fun to play: * 2-players always occupy split screen, meaning less visible play area for each player. * Removal of the compass/map, so no indication of where to go or what to do next. * Hints/tips now require you to stand in the right place and interrupt the game to read the hint/tip, rather than just showing it while you're playing. * Can't move the camera around any more, so scenery frequently obstructs your view. * Too much focus on gimmicks, collectables, and cheats. * Removal of hub areas, so the gameplay is a lot more linear. I'm not sure why the developers felt these changes would improve the game, but here we are.Show moreShow less

This is the last LEGO game I buy. Despite the bad taste the last game I played in the series (LEGO Marvel Avengers) left me with, I decided to give them another chance. After all, I inmensely enjoyed LEGO Jurassic World, and I had little to no issue with LEGO Batman 3, so I figured that perhaps they learned from their mistakes. They obviously didn't, and I'm through giving them chances. Let's go over the stylistic choices first. This game is labeled as the sequel to the comic-book-based LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (which was one of the most fun games in the series, while also one of the buggier ones), but it's clearly a Marvel Cinematic Universe game through and through. No Fantastic Four or X-Men in sight, and while certain costumes are more in line with the comics than with the movies, the line-ups from the teams are obviously based on the MCU. This is bait and switch, and it's a slap in the face to long-time fans of the characters. Also, certain kind of music works well for intros, but LEGO games insist on drowning you with licensed main themes for their unskippable intros, which causes you to get sick of them, And this is no exception. Prepare to get sick of "Come and get your love" real quick. And this might sound like nitpicking, but the fact that the end-of-stage summaries are now UNSKIPPABLE is unforgivable. In gameplay, switching characters in free play or open world has become a nightmare. Besides their insistence of having the same key/button to switch and to execute a transformation ability in certain characters, the character selection screen has replaced the classic buttons with character faces with cards showing the full body. While the intention was probably to make them easier to spot, it has the opposite effect due to how small the characters look now, and the cards having a red colored background that meshes with a large number of character colors. Ever since the first one, the Lego Marvel games have prioritized stylish animations over ease of control, and this is no different. Lengthy transformation sequences, unnecessarily long charging times, extremely flashy attacks, etc. All of this contributes to artificially lenghten the game's playtime while making it less fun. Spider-Man in particular suffers a lot from this. In previous games, playing as him was a lot of fun, but now they've added so much flair to his combat and movement that you get less done with him in three times as long playing time compared to previous games. AI is, inexplicably, worse than ever. You companions stay still doing nothing while you're desperately trying to fight enemies, and sometimes bosses prefer to do nothing as you attack them. Story advance cues confuse your characters. For instance, at a point, I had to destroy three generators, and once I destroyed the second one my character claimed "One down, two to go!". Then, I destroyed the third one and the other character said "Only one left!". In both cases they missed the fact that the first one had already been destroyed. Aerial combat has become an irritating chore. Having to pursue a flying villain and dying because the controls are somehow worse than in previous games and the enemy drops an insta-kill obstacle that you cannot possibly avoid in time is no fun. Having your body regenerate at the beginning and having to travel all the way back to where the villain patiently waits is even less fun. But, of course, the real problem is performance. Bugs are everywhere and come in different forms: stuck characters, invincible enemies, crashing, etc. All previous games had these, but here it's like they're being programmed on purpose. Worse, the game runs TERRIBLY. Despite the fact that they use the exact same graphics than several games in the series with stages that aren't any more demanding than the ones in previous games in any capacity, the framerate drops are constant, even in cutscenes. Let's not even begin to dwell on how terribly optimized the PC options are. Even the button prompts are wrong if you don't use a gamepad. Granted, for this kind of game a gamepad is recommended, but that doesn't mean playing with keyboard and mouse should be a problem. This is inexcusable. I bought this game on a large discount and I still feel ripped off. With irritating mechanics, bad controls and awful performance it's obvious that these games had little to no playtesting. Clearly TT Games have become too self-complacent and have come to believe they don't have to work too hard on these games. Unfortunately, the fact that we keep buying them is proving them right. Well, for me at least, it's the last time (sorry, Incredibles 2), and I recommend that if you value your rights as a customer you do the same.Show moreShow less

This game with all published DLC feels like an Alpha test game or a very buggy BETA. since release there has been zero in terms of updates or patches and in trying to play the game it a distubringly regular occurence to have the game freeze, lockup for minutes at a time, fail to save when it indicates it's autosaving, multiple characters have game crashing bugs, camera angle freak outs and other lockout symptoms. I love these games and routinely 100% them where possible but in several years of ownership ive only managed 29 hours recorded, on something like 75 hours actual playtime due to sheer bugginess of the product published. I have tried time and again to get issues sorted, via steam, the publisher and developer feedback. to no avail. It's terribly disappointing to have to give feedback that's negative but in all honesty I cannot recommend this product and it's DLC's until it's sorted out because it is unplayable.Show moreShow less
