> Be me. > Get drunk, buy an FPV drone on a whim > Realize I don't know ♥♥♥♥ about drones outside of RC Helicopters from 5th Grade > Drunkenly buy this simulator so I can not crash my brand new adult money toy > Spend ~10 hours figuring out how to fly these things > see improvement within days > New adult money toy arrives > Take it for a flight in the backyard > Video drops for a couple seconds with drone out of sight > comes back on with drone plummeting towards the creek in my backyard, less than a second till impact > able to manuever the drone to somewhere safe with split second piloting skills solely thanks to my practice on this game 10/10 if youre a beginner to FPV this game will save you so much moneyShow moreShow less
So, coming from a freestyle/race pilot of 3 years, this is my honest review. Honestly, the game is not terrible. I used it on rainy days and during the winter for a while to keep the rust off the fingers. The issues I have with the game are mostly just absolutely TERRIBLE optimization. I have a Ryzen 7 3700x/GTX 1080ti and the game will drop from 144 to 60 in the matter of a split second (regardless of graphics settings). This results in non-fluid gameplay, and honestly it made me feel nauseous at times. Now, don't get me started on the custom maps, those are even worse at 40-50fps. Mind you, while trying to figure out this issue, I had Afterburner, HWMonitor, etc. Running to monitor usage of CPU/GPU and see where my bottleneck may be sitting. To my surprise, the game could hardly utilise 30-40% of my GPU, while still under-delivering frames. Same with CPU, but it was near 10% when the game was running, which likely means the game doesn't use much more than 5% with my background processes running. As for map selection, it's decent. Nothing crazy, although I did spend 3/4 of my play time in the Hannover map. It's gorgeous, and a blast to fly through. Frames seemed to hover around 80-120fps (which is still terrible compared to what an optimized game can run at). There are a few others that were good, but nothing quite compared to Hannover. Quad selection/parts I feel could be much better. Me and my buddies run similar setups and we were unable to find any parts to match in the game (2207.5 2750KV, closest thing in game was 2206 2600kv or 2306 2650kv, which feel drastically different from a 2207.5 high KV stator). We had to try to get around this by using lower kv/higher pitched prop or a 6s with higher pitched props and smaller battery, lowering/raising weight, playing with tune, rates, etc. Nothing seemed to really work as we wanted it to, kind of leaving us desiring more from the quad/flight characteristics. The physics are somewhat janky. Quad is very floaty/drifty, and doesn't seem to resemble any of my real life quads whatsoever-no matter what I change. Tried to get a heavier feel so I raised the weight, but lost all my thrust. Tried different motors, props, etc, but nothing worked as I wanted them to, or they were changing the entire flight characteristics/throttle curve too much, making me drop the weight back down and basically flying a paper quad. From racing, to freestyle- it just didn't feel right. Mentioning this to others seemed to show that most people agree with this, and that it's been an issue for years with Liftoff. In conclusion, I ended up trying out Velocidrone and everything seemed to have fallen in place for me. Everything feels good, part selection is good, quad customization (flight characteristics, thrust, downforce, etc) all felt very natural and gave me the results that I expected. AND 200FPS CONSTANT!! I can see it drop to 195 ish every so often, but never noticed any frame drops or stutters in-game. I guess you can't go wrong with any game, as long as you're getting stick time in.. All in all, "quad feel" can be quite subjective. But if you're looking for the "end game" quad sim, I suggest you give them all a try for an hour or so before deciding which is right for you.Show moreShow less
THE BEST GAME EVER! WITH LOVE FROM UKRAINE!Show moreShow less
Updated after 28 hours: This one has a lot of issues for new pilots just trying to learn. First off in the tutorials after you do a step it asks you to do, it pauses you and shows a message. You then have to TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF THE CONTROLLER to click "next" then get your hands back where they were. Also after you mess up and reset you have to go through the dialog again. I couldn't believe it. It has a feel like no person actually tested the tutorial and they just sent it straight to the public. You also can't skip the scenes where it's showing you what to do which are really long and boring. Every time I want to practice I have to watch it all over again. If I go change a setting and come back.. yup I have to watch it all over again and again. Parts of the tutorial are supposed to be simplified by giving you a straight ahead course and all you have to do is control throttle up and down. But you don't start out lined up straight with it! It's unbelievable! So you have to try to fix your angle to line up straight with the obstacles as you go. Which is hard for a beginner and the whole point was to not have to. Also keep seeing a bug where when selecting my drone the stats don't show up. All the little bar graph thingies stay the same as I change selection. The constant clipping glitches are infuriating. I keep getting stuck in walls and objects and have to restart. I get stuck to the ground all the time. The collision physics are downright awful. The difficulty ratings of the races are meaningless. Some tracks on "hard" levels I can go full throttle and finish with ease. Some tracks on "easy" levels are outrageously hard and I can't even finish them. It takes a lot of time and effort to find tracks that are in my skill range because of this. I think all the hype is from people who already know how to fly and don't have to deal with the tutorial and major lack of low skill content. I can see how experienced pilots will like this but it's really not beginner friendly. The creators are probably experienced and out of touch with nooby needs.Show moreShow less
Pretty Good drone flight sim for learning, definitely needs more maps though, I wish they would open it up to modded in maps so the community could make maps for it so that the developers don't have to do it. and it can be done like BeamNG.Drive where new maps can be downloaded from the steam workshop. It could become an incredible gameShow moreShow less
Although it is a great and realistic simulator to practice FPV drones, I do not understand some details and ideas that make the game much less enjoyable. This is the best FPV simulator but it could offer much more with few tweaks. First I would love a more progressive approach to the game. At the moment (after 11 hours!) I am really struggling in completing the easiest races of the lowest levels. I would like to have few initial levels where you practice how to use sticks (maybe using only few of them at the beginning), like moving in a direction, doing one large turn, ... in a slightly competitive way, and then gradually increasing the difficulty of the tracks. The game at the moment makes me very nervous trying to go through those small gates. Secondly I do not understand why, when I touch the ground (at any speed and direction), I bounce high. This is not realistic at all. I think with these features, Liftoff may be not just a drone simulator, but also a very enjoyable game, since it is very complete and it has a very good physicsShow moreShow less
Liftoff is a Terrific Tool and Game! I became a Liftoff Fan in January 2017 when I puchased my first RealACC x-210 drone kit from Banggood. Liftoff taught me to fly, tune, and adjust my Taranis settings and develope throttle and axis curves. I did so through Liftoff. I was able to obtain a complete and functional understanding of RC Rates, Super Rates, Throttle and Axis Expo as well as PID tuning and I did so before I ever flew my first Quad, ( have since built five additional race quads) I was able to master the necessary control of my quad by using Liftoff. When I flew my first quad in March 2017.....which is, somewhat different from Liftoff (Liftoff was more foregiving) I was able to fly with only minor crashes that occurred until I mastered a real Quad landing. Following approximately ten pacs, I was flyng under and around trees and successfully maneuvering rolls, loops and very fast flying. During most of my Liftoff training / practice, I flew with Fat Shark HD3's. This presented a term to become familiar with an actual 130" field of view and became accustom to goggle flight which was helpful and important. I allowed camera noise in Liftoff but reality privides a great deal more. I regularly utilize Liftoff for learning the feel of new rate settings (muscle memory). I presently race Quads regularly and have become extremely respectable and competitive. I just began flying 6s power on llower KV motors.....the straight line speed of most of my builds exceed 120 mph and provides longer flight times with apparent aforethought. I still use Liftoff every day!......It's a tool and its relaxing.....no broken parts to replace and this creates much bolder flying.... provides experience.... and defrays from many broken parts that happen upon real Quad flight learning curves that always exist. If you are interested in Quad flying or just obtaining a good working understanding of what makes a good tune and proper control rates and adjustments.......then Liftoff IS A MUST HAVE.........You can probable learn to fly without it......over a longer period of time.....but why do it the hard way? Liftoff is at your finger tips and will act as a terrific aid to determined if this hobby is for you. Sincerely, JOANZS ...... a Liftoff fan. PS.......I built a race course on the Liftoff program that emulates a local track that I regularly partake.....this allows me to experiment with new settings and pratice laps in all weather!Show moreShow less
The game has this strangely low gravity. It is playable but you risk incorrectly training your hand-eye coordination. In the real world, expect your drone to fall to earth twice, if not thrice as fast. Nothing seems to be done to address this issue and so for the time being, I wouldn't recommend this game. That is unless you want to simulate flying on the moon, haha!Show moreShow less
Good realistic flight simulator and thanks for adapting to Ukrainian languageShow moreShow less
If you own a Spektrum DX6, BEWARE! Ive been plagued by throttle and yaw issues, it doesnt recognise them. Ive spent at least 6 hours trying to get it to work. Ive posted lots of questions but have recieved no help from the developer. Disappointing.Show moreShow less
