Yes, this game is fairly short, especially for someone like me that doesn't sit for 3 hours each time I play. I beat it in 2 nights. I bought this game on sale for $15 and it was totally worth it, and I'll tell you why. First, the art; Little Nightmare's artist is something from the wonderful imagination of both Tim Burton and Hayao Miyazaki (specifically I got vibes of Spirited Away). The gross, horrifying, unique look of all the characters in this game are what I play these types of games for. Second, the music; The musical team for this game matched the creepy and eery feeling that the rest of it gives off. I don't know if there is a vinyl record of this score, but I'll definitely be keeping my eyes out for one. Lastly, the gameplay; Every level/section of the game has you hiding and escaping the clutches of these hungry monsters and it has my heart racing every single time. This game captured me and pulled me into a make-believe world like every game should. I cannot recommend this game enough if you're looking for a single-player horror/thriller game. Again, it IS a little short in playtime, but I'd rather it be short and every second of it captivating rather than long, boring, and repetative. There will be extra paid DLC anyway which I'm OK with because the creators have earned it if they can keep it up. PROS: Art Music Gameplay Scary Continually Fun CONS: Short (DLC will help that) When you are captured by any creature, you are just held in their hands. I'd like to see each monster/boss kill you/devour you in unique ways.Show moreShow less
TL;DR Amazing puzzle/platformer with a horrific atmosphere so thick you could cut it with a knife, sadly that same knife was used to cut the game short. You'll complete it in 3 hours (with many many retries) and be left wanting more. The game does not have a natural ending and it feels very much like it was rushed out. *UPDATE* Turns out I was right about them cutting content. With the "Secrets of the Maw" DLC being announced I can only say this: Get fukt Namco ================================================================= While the game itself is amazing... I sadly cannot recommend it for it's current price. I'm not one who rates games based on how long they are, but honestly, 3 hours??? The game does everything right (other than some areas that require trial and error) and leaves you wanting more... alot more in fact. It leaves me wanting so much more that I feel I have been scammed. I can tell they put alot of time and effort into this game, this is made apparent by the meticulous detail in every bit of every level. So it is worth something. I can't stress enough that I really enjoyed this game, but it was far too short for it's asking price. I've got this bad feeling there's going to be over priced dlc in the future. You've gotta love all the reviews with 0.3 hours in game singing unlimited praise. *Edit* I guess everyone saw my review... better explain my self a little better. (When I made my review most of the positive reviews hadn't made it even 15 minutes into the game.) 1.) To those saying things such as "You will easily pay $20 for movies tickets and thats not including drinks/popcorn etc. For 3 hours fo enjoyment I think $20 is a fantastic pricepoint." (thanks @BlastedMass for the response) Video games and Film are completely different mediums. There's so little in common that there is no real way (or reason) to fully compare them... I could buy a pizza for 20$..... but why would I bring that up, it's completely irrelevant. (the pizza would have lasted longer though) 2.) The length of the game is a factor in my negative review, however this was not the only factor. To measure a game by one merit is foolish, and before you all jump on me and claim I did exactly that, let me explain. I took my time with this game. I looked at everything I could. The gameplay is nice, but lacking depth. The story isn't exactly deep either. The art direction is where the majority of development time went, this is made apparent by the jaw dropping scenery and graphical flair. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ None of this matters when the game cuts off abruptly right as it gets truely interesting. My major complaint is that the game JUST ENDS. The last 30 minutes of the game progresses the story from about 30% to 100% rather abruptly. None of it matched the pacing of the rest of the game at all; and feels completely inorganic in it's execution. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IN CLOSING The game has an obvious drop off point that seems likely to be filled with DLC... It seems Namco has given this game the bad-touch... Due to this fact I will most DEFINITELY NOT be changing my negative review.Show moreShow less

The store page really needs to say in big words at the top: DOES NOT WORK WITH A BROAD RANGE OF AMD CPUs. Because otherwise, people might buy the game but not play it for a couple months and then be well outside the refund window and stuck with a game that requires a cpu + mobo change to play. And that would be terrible.Show moreShow less

BUY ON DISCOUNT A good game, but just too short. It just feels bad if you get so hyped about a game because everything looks perfect, and you buy it at full price, and then have 2 hours of gameplay. Not to mention that they use picture on the case that arent even in the game. People have to understand the progress a game makes. After 30 minutes: Its kind of cute After 1 hour: Im starting to like this After 2 hours: Yea, this is cool, i want to know more And then it just ends. When you really get hooked, when you want to understand whats happening, or atleast have more clues, or simple more of that awesome creepy gameplay, but nope, nothing. Sorry folks, it just was not enough for me.Show moreShow less

I had decent hopes for this game, but ultimately was let down by a short and shallow gameplay experience. The game took me about 2 hours to complete and lacked any real difficulty. Puzzles are extremely simple and require very little thought to be completed. The only thing I'd say this game has going for it is it's striking visuals which I still love regardless. I feel as though this game was intentionally made to be long enough just so that you cannot refund the game, especially with the incredibly long unskippable credits which gets slower and slower the more you try to get skip it(very noticably). You must go through it to get an extra cinematic at the end. When i say slows down I cannot exaggerate it got to the point where it would move up the screen at a rate of what seems like 10 pixels a second... absolutely ridiculous maybe intentionally done to lengthen the game up a bit... Pros: - Visuals - Runs smooth through the entirety of the game Cons: - Incredibly short (2 hours) - Annoying controls (analog directly left doesnt always translate to moving exactly left so you can fall off objects parallell to screen for whatever reason) - No difficulty - Shallow puzzles Things to note: - Game isn't what I'd call scary so if you wanted to be scared be aware of that I really wanted to enjoy this game but I just couldn't so I'll end off on this, if you are only looking for a game that looks nice and just want to go through a game without worrying about facing any challenge mayeb you can enjoy this game, but I would then only buy it when its on sale. Otherwise Dont bother you'll end up $20 poorer and be just as disappointed as I was. :(Show moreShow less
Little Nightmares stands head and shoulders above its peers it terms of its true innovation, beautiful, atmospheric design, and a truly terrible tale. For any horror fan, Little Nightmares is the stuff of dreams.Show moreShow less
Beautiful art style, but the gameplay... ohhh, the gameplay. It's nothing major, but the controls are juuust touchy enough to be an annoyance at every moment. You want to grab the handle on a suitcase? Better be standing right in front of it, or your character won't know what to do. This is about 70% of the game: grabbing items to move them into position so you can make a jump. Once you're in the air, the same problem happens with grabbing ledges. Those jumps are hard enough to gauge because of the kind-of-sidescroller style: the game is 3D, but the camera is fixed in place, like you're looking into a diorama. This also sucks when you have to realize that this wooden wall is not a structural support, it's a ladder. That other wall that's clearly a secret passage opening inward? You need to push it to progress because it swings both ways. Does the game show you this? No. Do you absolutely need to figure both of these things out to beat the level? Yes. Is this terrible design? Also yes. The worst thing about this game, though, is the stealth mechanics. Most characters can see you even if you're under a table and they're staring at its surface. The grab animation does not play until you are already caught, so there is no dodging. Your only hope is to be fast enough to find a hidey-hole before you get caught and killed. Checkpoints are placed juuuuust far enough apart to make every death frustrating; you lose 30 seconds or so just getting to the start of whatever puzzle killed you. Little Nightmares is a great example of why the little details matter. Your art can be fantastic, your vision can be laser-focused, and your music can fit perfectly with both... but without rock-solid play mechanics, you'll end up with frustrated players. Puzzles are fine, but figuring out the controls should not be a puzzle in itself. Good thing I only wasted a few bucks on this.Show moreShow less
