As a vision impaired player, if you're afraid to pick it up, this game has systems in place to improve accessibility. If you struggle finding the cursor like I did, 'forbianca' will toggle a high visibility cursor mode at the title screen and typing it again will disable it. I've played this game a lot. And I do mean a LOT. However with the current beta and the way both the community and the dev insults people for requesting QoL or Balancing changes, I do not feel comfortable defending the game any further. While achivements are possible and the general gameplay is addictive, it's awfully rough around the edges. Previously this included softlocking yourself into fights forcing you to discard hours of runs without keeping any ressource. Nowadays it includes secret bosses that you can accidently spawn who have an evasion of 99%. It's just a huge middle finger in your face, punishing people who keep playing after the story. "Get good" is not a valid argument. And discarding any feedback given is a sign of a terrible Dev.Show moreShow less

Game is extremely well made and super addictive, but that doesn't make it fun. Kind of like how a song you hate can still be catchy and get stuck in your head. I think way too many people get the idea that if they played a game for 5+ hours that must mean they enjoyed it and then try to rationalize how it was actually fun after the fact. VIDEO GAMES: The only time when "It's super addictive 10/10" is said unironically without any other positive attributes, and everyone cheers. Moment to moment gameplay is essentially just an Idle clicker game that you need to constantly micromanage. Any elements of strategy are either super obvious or negligible. I played for basically 7 hours straight caught in a trance of repeating the same mundane actions over and over again before I finally just had to stop and ask myself "wtf am i doing?". Would not recommend unless you just want to kill time and have nothing else to do, but I would strongly suggest you put your limited time on earth engaged with something slightly more challenging or interesting.Show moreShow less

It's addictive as hell, but is it fun? After about 13 hours (I know, virtually no time at all compared to some of you) I'd say... no. My desire to keep playing wasn't related to fun at all. It just has the perfect formula to keep you trying for "one more loop". The base (your permanent upgrades) is cumbersome, and acquiring the materials is part of the addiction. You want to see what new cards you get after grinding for those materials, right? Once you get those new cards it's going to start being "fun", isn't it? Nope. It's just a big grind. The entire game is one grind after another, which is appealing for some but definitely not for me. It just feels like a mobile game without the microtransactions. The visuals are great and the story is mildly interesting, but I'd still say give it a skip.Show moreShow less

As a fan of Slay the Spire and strategy games, deck builders and rogue likes in general I thought this game would be right up my street but it turns out not to be a great fit for me. The game lacks meaningful strategic choices and there doesn't seem to be much opportunity to make good or clever plays. While there are lots of progress paths many of them are very linear. During each run you get gear upgrades, but the choices are often very obvious. I hoped I could steer my "build" into certain areas emphasising particular item stats but often you have a simple choice between the level 6 weapon equipped and the higher damage level 8 weapon you just picked up, regardless of other stats. As you have to be regularly replacing your gear to your current level for it to stay relevant there's little opportunity to push any particular archetype. The "deck building" element didn't provide much interesting choice for me either. You pick before the run what selection of cards are in the pool to be randomly dropped throughout the run. Some cards synergize with each other but these combos are quickly figured out and for the next 1hr+ you're then confined to this pool. There is a little bit of optimization you can do when placing these tiles during a run but these interactions are quickly figured out. Combat is all automatic. The combat mechanics aren't explained within the game so there is some experimentation required to discover how certain stats work. The most meaningful choice you do have is when to retire from each run. This push your luck mechanic was initially exciting but with so little influence on your next loop it quickly wore off. Loop Hero is most akin to a lightweight tower defence game. It lacks opportunities for meaningful choices and player agency. Once you've figured out the basics it's an endless grind. There's nothing here to master that would make it interesting for me long term.Show moreShow less

The game is about observing a guy. You don’t control him directly, but instead decide what he’s wearing and what he’s doing by using a card. Basically, it’s like camgirls, but cheaper. The gameplay is about making mazes for your ant to run. First you build a deck. Then you use it to construct an obstacle course around a looped unchangeable layout. To get the cards you put in your deck, your hero beats the ever-living crap out of everybody he meets. To get the loot, he does the same. The cards you play can roughly be divided between three categories: land, that booth boosts the hero and gives you resources for permanent upgrades, mob-spawners, and enhancers of the previous two. The distinction between the categories isn’t clear cut, and cards generally like to interact with each other, which is one of the main gimmicks of the game. To illustrate, say, you put up a mountain. Nothing happened, just a couple of cowboys are climbing it. Then you put some other mountains around - now it’s a health booster. You put the mountains in a 3x3 square, now it’s one big mountain that gives you a moderate amount of a special resource. And it also spawns bird-women with boobs. Was it because you’re closeted furry? We may never know. The mobs, just like the cards, interact with each other. Put up a vampire mansion? Now everybody you fight around it sucks. Killed a wandering wolf on an old battlefield? Now kill his ghost. Now kill his ghost’s ghost. The more cards you play, the more the boss meter fills in. After it’s done, you fight the boss and probably die. After you finish the current loop by dying or by retreating, you start the base building phase. It’s pretty straightforward – you spend your resources, you get the hovels, the hovels give you new cards, new abilities, new bonuses, along with some dialogue. Then you start the loop again. I’ve skipped through several mechanics, but that’s the gist of it. The game is carried by its stylish presentation and the inherently addictive nature of watching the things you set up play out, somewhat similar to “just one more turn” effect. Loop Hero’s main flaw is that it’s rather short on content and, because of that, feels rather grindy. It took me 21 hour to unlock almost everything and beat the final boss, and most of the time was spent doing the same things - either grinding the loop while optimizing my deck, or optimizing my deck while grinding the loop. Figuring things out and unlocking new stuff is fun, if sometimes too slow, but it does get old 10-15ish hours in. And due to the mentioned lack of content, there’s no point to use permanent progression to powercreep further once your current strategies start working well enough. Overall, I’d say that after the game’s charm is gone, it feels more like a very well-made mobile game built around an addictive gimmick. Now, I ain’t against it, and I think it’s well worth your time for the price - I just wouldn’t go in expecting the world based on all those good reviews.Show moreShow less
