Don't mind my negative review, that's only my opinion, and I would perfectly understand that other people would precisely recommend it for what I didn't enjoy myself. The main reason why I couldn't recommend LYNE, is because I bought it at full price, and would have expected a bit more variety in its gameplay. Apart from the multi-nodes, it's always the same idea, and there's no new mechanic involved further on. Sure, there's a lot of hand-crafted levels, which is usually a good point in puzzle games, but for LYNE, it felt like it was a bit too much. It seems like you're always trying to solve the same level over and over on the long run, and I even noticed some of them being exactly the same, except rotated in a different manner. Now, I'm not saying LYNE isn't worth it. If you're just looking for a puzzle game to kill some time, without being afraid of the "assembly-line work" feeling of it, then just go ! The minimalistic art style is fantastic, and you can even chose your colour palette, which I appreciated a lot. If I were to be honnest, I don't think that game is that interesting on a computer, you might prefer playing LYNE on your phone/tablet whenever you feel like it. Needless to say, this game sells itself mostly for the achivements that let your write anything on your profile showcase, but when it comes to actual gameplay content, it's fairly weak. If you expect diversity, this might not be for you, but it remains a nice little puzzler overall !Show moreShow less

There is a certain elegance and simplicity in the puzzle mechanic in this game, but the levels have no flair, almost no challenge (I am currently mid way through the game) and there is entierely too many levels. I worked my way through 300+ levels and, after hours of play, I still feel like I am in the fat and have yet to reach the meat. You can easily remove 280 of these puzzles and nothing of value would be lost. That's a problem. Even more so when you consider you cannot skip ahead to the later sets of levels that might provide something like an actual challenge. Because of this I cannot recommend this game. For a puzzle game with great design, great challenge and that is almost 100% meat, I recommend English Country Tune.Show moreShow less
LYNE does exactly what you want a puzzle-based game to do. It's an incredibly simple game that makes you analyze and think your way out of difficult situations. That added with the beautiful ambient sounds and music leaves you with a very relaxed state that is simply put as enjoyable. I highly recommend this game for any puzzle enthusiast you will not be disappointed. I also did a first look review video fo it so if you'd like to see some gameplay + commentary feel free to check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCC_N_YVEq8&feature=share&list=UUf2ocK7dG_WFUgtDtrKR4rwShow moreShow less
I F***ING hate this game! Please let me explain why: Gabe made me purchase LYNE for a few cents in the winter sale. The reviews made me so excited that I just wanted to play, play, play! - so I instantly downloaded & installed the game. After the first few minutes of enjoying this minimalistic piece of art, my telephone rang and I noticed it just after the 4th chime. By the time I got to the phone the caller had already hung up, so I returned to enjoy riddling around on my pc. But the telephone was just the beginning... later I didn't hear the door bell, my alarm clock for work and other things. I even forgot about time and went to bed far behind 3 in the morning. The next days were the same, I even made excuses so that I didn't need to go to work. By now, my friends are texting me, asking "where the f*ck I am". Weeks later: I'm absolutely broke. My girlfriend left me and my landlord kicked me out. Plus I still play the game and I'm still not finished!! When will this game end? Is there an alternative ending to make me suffer more? And most importantly: Will there be a sequel? Don't buy this game! It will ruin your social and financial life. You want it. You want more! Sh*t is addicting as f*ck.Show moreShow less
To be honest, everyone is just buying this game for the achievementsShow moreShow less
Lyne is a puzzle game inspired by the Nine-dot problem. The game introduces multiple lines with separate sets of target dots distinguished by different colors. As anothre addition, there are vertices at which the lines are allowed to cross. While the original puzzle is a nice demonstration of insight problem-solving and out-of-box thinking, solution of Lyne puzzles does not involve either of these. Rather the solution is achieved by an exhaustive and often random exploration of the tree of all possible states. The difficulty is increased by asking the player to solve puzzles with deeper and wider trees. The controls are lacking: It is possible to modify the line that has been drawn only at its end. If you want to modify a segment of line at where it started, you need to redraw the entire line. That's not a big deal with small puzzles but it can get annoying with more longer lines. The game is intended for screens with portrait rotation - i.e. screens with height>width. Such choice is awkward since most displays are intended for landscape viewing and, for instance, it's not feasable to physically rotate laptop screen or a projector display. As a consequence some slim puzzles will occupy 1/8 of the width of your screen when viewed in landscape mode and it can get really tricky to accurately draw the desired line. It appears that the game partly gets its current overwhelming rating due to the attractivity of its achievements. Achievements aside, I don't think the game deserves such rating. I don't recommend it.Show moreShow less
AT A GLANCE (Full review follows below) Game Name: LYNE Original Release: 2014 Genre Tags: Puzzle; Casual; Zen; Relaxing My Overall Grade: B+ Estimated Playtime (Campaign): 15-30 hours Multiplayer Aspect: None Recommended To: Established fans of the genre; Puzzle game aficionados REVIEW LYNE is a fun little puzzle game. It's a "puzzle" puzzle game that involves literal puzzles, not the kind of puzzle game where you move around characters. The puzzle style is very intuitive and you will be able to quickly understand and jump right into it. It is quite innovative and is somewhat like connect-the-dots but with the need to use logic to find the solution. If you like the kinds of puzzles you may find in a puzzle book or the back of the newspaper, you will probably enjoy this innovative game. The puzzles can be solved visually at first, but slowly they get complex and you need to use logic to figure out what order to connect the dots in, and which paths to take... and it's really quite fun to solve the challenging ones. The game comes with more than enough puzzles (650), but the best part is, since the game has the ability to randomly generate new puzzles every day, you basically get a lifetime subscription. If you log on each day, the puzzles get harder as the week goes on, starting over again on easy every monday, just like puzzles in the newspaper. This game may be a good demonstration of how a nice idea and fine realization could become a very boring game at the end... I was trying not to fall asleep all the time. But achievements are easy-to-get, so if you're running for some perfect games, here's the one.Show moreShow less
