Edit (September 25): Devs have added resolution options to the game, and rebindable controls as well. This was a great addition, now the port is pretty decent.
I'd still recommend the sound quality mod though:

Forced 720p on a pc title is insane, you cant alt tab if you're playing on a monitor has a native resolution higher than 1080p
Game itself is great but this port is extremely lazy. If I can find a way to modify the config file to allow me to run at 1440p ill not refund but this "remaster" is essentially a rushed port of the PS3 and Xbox 360 remasters by BluePoint (which you can emulate!).
Only reason why bought this is because I wanted to play MGS3 at 60fps without pressure sensitive controls at a decent resolution but I guess thats too hard for a massive company like Konami to accomplish.Show moreShow less

A lazy and quite frankly unacceptable port of an absolute masterpiece of a game. Thankfully a few essential mods provided by the community changes absolutely everything and makes it worth playing. If you head over to Nexus or an alternative host of where these mods are available, grab the following:-
- MGSHDFix v1.0.1+
- High Resolution Textures AI Upscaled
- MGS3MC Better Audio
- MGS3 Crouch Walk
These 4 alone completely revolutionise the experience with wholesale resolution support, significantly better audio quality, vastly improved textures, and the ability to walk whilst couching. Konami get absolutely no credit for this whatsoever and the community have done more in 72 hours than they have done in allegedly 3 years.Show moreShow less

Absolutely disgraceful port. Can't change resolution, button prompts reset every time you exit game, keyboard controls are horrible. Game is locked at 720p, and there are NO graphical settings. Literally bottom of the barrel tier porting job, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it's so bad. Please get this garbage off of my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ account, I'm so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ repulsed by this and what they've done to one of my favorite games of all time.Show moreShow less

.45, huh?... Incredible...
The feeding ramp is polished to a mirror sheen. The slide's been
reinforced. And the interlock with the frame is tightened for added precision.
The sight system is original, too. The thumb safety is extended to make it
easier on the finger. A long-type trigger with non-slip grooves. A ring
hammer... The base of the trigger guard's been filed down for a higher grip.
And not only that, nearly every part of this gun has been expertly crafted and

This is the HD Remake made by Bluepoint Games, with the additional screen-play book.
What this essentially means is:
- 720p ONLY, no support for other resolutions, no ultrawide support
- Audio quality is worse in this version than the HD Collection on PS3/XBOX360
- Game is locked to 60fps
- Texture quality is the same as in the HD collection, a far fetch from what i would consider "HD" by todays standards
- Mouse and Keyboard only emulate controller input
- spelling errors, bugs and glitches from the HD Collection still persist in this version
Truth be told, this is lazy, but mods can atleast make this port more bearable, and atleast you won't get any engine slowdown like in the PS3 HD Collection. This all doesn't sound so bad until you take one thing into account:
KONAMI PUBLICLY CONDEMNS MODDING!
Giving a company money when they don't even implement basic support for resolutions other than 1280x720p is a horrible idea.
So, all that said, here is my definitive guide for anyone who wants to relive this masterpiece before the release of MGS: Delta.
Step 1: Install MGSHDFix
This fixes practically all issues regarding your choice of screen resolution and aspect ratio.
Step 2: Install MGS3MC Better Audio Mod
Self-explanatory, fixes the low-quality audio
Step 3: Install Upscaled Textures
This will upscale the ingame textures to a much nicer resolution. Not perfect, but makes the whole experience much nicer. Do consider looking through Nexusmods for more tweaks, there are a lot of smaller improvements for other textures that have not been upscaled.
Step 4 (Optional): Install MGS3 Crouch Walk
Implements crouch walking and sneaking using animations from the 3DS version of MGS3. Experimental, adjusts the Camo-rating dynamically but CQC doesn't work from the crouch stance. Though, overall a great addition to the game.
Also i'd recommend a programm called "Lossless Scaling", available for purchase on the steam store, adds frame-generation for a much smoother experience for users with high-refresh rate monitors.
