solo players need access to all maps and content too update: the pvp is incredibly fun and this game has so much potential but I won't change my review to positive until game director Hao is letting solo players play all maps instead of gatekeeping the good loot and maps behind artificial queue restrictions that make no sense. i bought this game for the solo pvp, why would u force me to do quests with strangers? WHAT DO WE WANT? ALL CONTENT FOR SOLO PLAYERS !!! WHEN DO WE WANT IT?! IN A REASONABLY TIMEFRAME FOR THE DEVS TO IMPLEMENT CHANGES! Game director Haoliang Zhang, I will enter a hunger strike now. And I am not very fat, so hurry up and give in to our demands!Show moreShow less
Glad I didn’t listen to the bad reviews of the game. It’s really fun so far and I’m enjoying it very much!Show moreShow less
Apperantly you can only play one map with solo queueing, and you need to queue with 2 others (not solo queue and team up with 2 randoms) to even be able to progress the main quest. Stupid me bought the deluxe edition, thinking this game would surely be fun. But since it has a currency, you can't get the money back for that part. Nowhere was it stated you could only progress in coop, and I do feel misled and robbed by the devs.Show moreShow less
I see a lot of negative reviews on here complaining about things the devs have already confirmed they are working on so i thought i'd leave a review myself to clear some things up! My personal opinion: This game is Awesome, the combat feels good, progression is fun and not too quick, the game runs surprisingly well for a new release in the big 2026 i haven't had any major performance issues (make sure you let your shaders load though). I personally think you should really try the game out for yourself before forming an opinion based on the reviews. you can always refund it if you havent hit the 2h gameplay mark just yet! Now to clear up some complaints from other reviewers (cause i think some of them are stupid). Clunky combat: Idk what they are talking about it feels good to me. No solo mode in Brandrgarde: This is true and it suck BUT, the devs have already confirmed they are working on adding a solo mode, they just need to work on the balancing of it first since the map was designed for trio's. No OCE servers: The devs have stated that they dont have OCE servers YET since there isnt enough interest from the region, they also said they arent working on it yet but they are monitoring the regions interest for if they ever need to add these servers (So as for now id reccomend staying away from the game if you live in the OCE region... 100+ms is not fun.) OCE SERVER has been confirmed to be added to the game soon, it sucks it wasnt added from the start but atleast its still comming. Though a small and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ catch is that the server will be seperate so if you already played on other servers as an OCE player you will need to start from 0 again... plus purchases likely won't carry over (which sounds very crappy to me) But atleast you can play with good MS! Region lock: The game is Regionlocked so you can't play with your friends overseas if you live in NA, this absolutely sucks and should be changed, though i doubt it will be. However the Devs have made an tutorial how to change your region if you are ok with having higher ping to play with your friends in other regions so not all hope is lost.Show moreShow less
EDIT: 8/6/26 - There was a patch this morning and to my relief, the connection to in-game servers after testing for several matches is consistently far smoother than previously. I am truly happy about this because before my first GearUp trial ended and serious PvE lag became noticeable, I was enjoying this game a ton and it was quickly becoming one of my favorite extraction games. My connection to servers is now smooth as butter and reflects the low ping and solid routing that GFiber has always provided for me on almost all competitive games. For everyone in comments saying my connection is simply bad, please comment again and explain to me how it is now very smooth despite me having made zero changes since the original review. The rubber-banding without 3rd party assistance was very consistent and easy to replicate previously, now the game quite literally feels worse when GearUp is enabled and runs smoother with my natural connection. For now I'm going to give this game the benefit of the doubt and assume that the issues weren't done on purpose, despite how shady and suspicious it is to advertise 3rd party applications in a paid game. To the dev that responded claiming that there is no benefit to throttle connections, I would ask what is the benefit to advertise the app to us then? There is obviously a contract between the two companies and I would assume there is payment for providing extra customers to GearUp that likely would have never even known of it's existence. Honestly the app is pretty garbage and didn't provide any benefit to my friends who actually do have high ping and latency according to them after trying it. I will eventually change this to a positive review as long as things continue smoothly and no other serious issues arise. The game has sold well enough that I would assume it is not necessary at all to make questionable deals with other companies, and I do understand how unreliable the extraction genre is when it comes to retaining players, (or in the case of games like Marathon, not selling well in the first place) so I do see the incentive for making deals that would guarantee profit even if the game were to fail. I just hope there is enough faith in the game now to avoid anything that could be detrimental to the gamers who supported and are enjoying Mistfall. Original Review: THIS GAME PURPOSEFULLY THROTTLES YOUR CONNECTION UNLESS YOU PAY MONEY FOR A 3RD PARTY PING REDUCTION APP WHICH THEY ADVERTISE IN-GAME. I did thorough testing to show that unless you have an app called GearUp the game will automatically throttle your connection when you get in a lobby which adds 50-100 more ping. I streamed the entire thing and have video evidence of this. I can't believe other players are not talking about experiencing the same as it is rather noticeable when you've felt the difference between having the app on or off. I have around 35-40 ping with my Google Fiber connection and when I interact with in-game breakables and things like doors there is an obvious full half second of lag to react to hits etc. but when GearUp is enabled everything instantaneously reacts and the PvE is MUCH smoother. This is the only game I have ever experienced this on out of dozens of other competitive PvP games played for over a decade, including many other extraction games. I also tested a separate 3rd party app which is a competitor to GearUp called ExitLag which was connecting to the exact same servers as GearUp but was consistently over 100 ping when in-game when using the competitor's app. This also affects PvP even if you have a stable connection because other players who have not paid for GearUp will have a throttled connection making them very laggy during fights, particularly with melee. This is one of the most disgusting practices I've ever come across in over 20 years of gaming and is something I would expect from a free-to-play cell phone game, not a paid game such as this. We as gamers should not be supporting such horrible shadiness especially when success of this will lead to other future games using similar exploits to sell partnered applications to us. Absolutely despicable.Show moreShow less
A Great Alternative for Extraction RPG Fans Its a really enjoyable surprise and a great alternative if you're looking for another dark fantasy extraction game to dive into. Every run has that constant risk versus reward feeling where you're debating whether to push deeper for better loot or extract while you're ahead. The combat feels satisfying, the different classes all offer unique playstyles, and the world has a gritty atmosphere that fits the genre perfectly. What I enjoyed most is that the game doesn't just copy what's already out there. It adds its own identity with enjoyable class abilities, rewarding progression, and tense encounters that keep every expedition interesting. Whether you're playing solo or with friends, there's always that excitement of finding valuable gear while trying to make it out alive. It has a strong foundation and plenty of potential. If you're a fan of extraction games or simply want a fresh experience in the genre, this is definitely one worth picking up. Worth Playing! Looking Forward to Future Updates 🎅Would Appreciate If You Follow My Curator Page🎅 Would mean a lot if you supported me there, would help me create more quality reviews.Show moreShow less
Advertised as a SOLO or a TRIO PvPvE extraction game but in actuality, you are forced into TRIO in order to progress. There is no true SOLO mode, only the tutorial. Also, cash shop is scummy beyond belief. You're paying for an early access game, disguised as something else. Don't be fooled. Cool concept, but not meant for western audiences. Don't fall victim.Show moreShow less
As a souls fan and extraction shooter "semi-fan" (I loved ARC Raiders, but don't really like Tarkov, haven't played dark and darker), I am really enjoying the game. I understand why solo players are annoyed (the main quest needs you to play with trios), but at the same time, I really don't think this game deserves its current 67% positive rating. Additionally, OCE players are review-bombing the game and DDOSing it because they dont have OCE servers, further lowering the review score for what is, in my opinion, a really well made game that is, at its core, fun to play. The monetization is not predatory, the graphics are excellent, the combat is meaty and enjoyable (especially when you learn it more + get talents for your class), and the progression feels good. Is the game perfect? No. Is it a 67% on steam, when many games get 90+ % positive despite having 3-5 hours of content and subpar graphics / gameplay just due to "vibes"? No. The review bombing has shed a really negative light on a game that, in my opinion, has an actual soul to it, at least as of now. And for 22.50 right now (to compensate for only 2 maps worth of content), I think this game is well worth the pricepoint, especially with more to come. I would say if you're on the fence about getting this game, you should take the plunge despite the reviews, feel the combat, take some classes into the practice range and try them out, and if you really think it's crap, refund it before 2 hours. Don't write it off just because of the reviews though, I genuninely think they aren't indicative of this game's quality at the moment.Show moreShow less
What were the devs thinking??? I got the game, excited to see a souls-ish extraction game. get through the tutorial then open up the menu in base and see that theres a "mall" go to said mall and PAID cosmetic skins for 20+ dollars. but wait, theres more! In a different tab in the mall, you can get some pretty cool weapon skins, only... said weapon skins require you to buy a 2 dollar token to then GACHA roll on how much of a crafting material you get from the roll, then you have to spend 7k of that currency to get ONE weapon skin. so realistically, those fancy cool weapon skins probably take 100+ or even 200+ dollars to obtain. like WTF.Show moreShow less
