Playing the game with a mouse is terrible. Thank god they set priorities and added Denuvo instead of getting non important features like the pc controls on a pc right.Show moreShow less
One of my Favorite games, Finally on Steam ever since MHST2 Release on Steam i was hoping for this. Just so other people can have such a blast with the story like i had when i was young.Show moreShow less
Disclaimer / TL;DR - I cannot recommend this game when the second game exists. Every single thing I am about to complain about is handled in MHS2. Just buy that one (when it's on sale). For the record, I 100% completed this game. I got every unique collectable, every monstie, did every subquest, and I fought every single thing that could be fought in this entire game. I even beat the Rider arena, and got the platinum trophy for defeating my rival at the final round. I did it all. Do you want to know what achievement i got LAST? Was it visiting all of the fast travel points? No. Was it completing the end game dungeon? No. Was it getting 1 million dollars? No. Was it collecting all the poogies? No. You want know what achievement took me 50+ hours of playing the game to get? "Get five head to heads in a row." This should be all you need to know about how this game is the most inconsistent, random, and stupidly executed RPG I have played in a long time. To give you an example of the existential terror this game gave me, I went against a Deviljhoe, and i fought this pickle 40 times, because someone on a forum in 2017 on the 3DS wrote that all he does is spam power attacks, even when he's enraged. Brother, THIS PICKLE would throw out a tech attack at RANDOM, EVEN as his first attack, which he did 1/3rd of the time. This is just one monster in this sea of 100+ zoo animals that you can not predict. And don't even get me started on the RIDER ARENA. Lord forgive me for the profanity I yelled at these AI hunters reading my inputs and spamming traps to guarantee I lose on the platinum tier. The soul of my grandma is floating above me, sobbing at my behavior while playing a children's Pokemon knock-off at 1:30 am. The battle pouch is stupid, the crafting system makes no sense, which is insane because this is a monster hunter game where collecting everything is the strategy for completing quests and crafting armor, but most of the stuff you get is useless. But you wont know how useless it is until you beat the game and you have to collect a whole new tier of parts at high rank. I spent 4 hours hunting for a Kirin only to discover that I had to go to an area with Cherry Blossoms that just so happens to be the ALL BLUE that the cook from One Piece is trying to find because every monster in the game can spawn there, so finding the one homie you need to complete your book is a nightmare of poopoo eggs. It's a needle in a haystack. Every single monstie has FOUR DIFFERENT COLOR COMBINATIONS so I had to have a page open and compare shades of purple in photoshop just to figure out if its a Rathian or a small goat. Just buy the second one. I don't care if they got the same voice actors from the second game, I don't care if its for children, I dont care if someone replies to this calling me a big man-baby for whining about this game, I don't care. I'm upset and the world must know about how this game wronged me on the 3DS AND the PC.Show moreShow less
Game is about murdering the unsuspected and stealing their unborn children in a means to amass an army to cull the weak and conquer the strong. Genghis Khan(10)/10Show moreShow less
The game looks cute, but the battery drain on the Steam Deck is really high. I had intended to play the game in handheld mode and after 30 minutes I had used 20% of my battery. For a game that originally ran on the 3DS, that's way too high. Also, I'm not sure why this is verified, as the button prompts only showed keyboard inputs and never showed controller inputs. While the little I saw of the game looked cute, I don't think this should be played on the Steam Deck. If you're looking for a nice game to play on the Steam Deck, I recommend avoiding this one.Show moreShow less

Pokemon for PC except its good and not a cash grab, it does take a bit to unlock some of the main mechanics, power through the story for a few hours and you're in the money!Show moreShow less
I really really wanted to like this game but by the end of the story I was feeling incredibly tired of it all and just wanted it to be over. There's so many little issues with this game that drag it down and the only thing holding it up is the fact it's incredibly cute and has excellent aesthetic both visually and audibly. I have a lot of harsh things to say, but it should be noted I have this much to say because I did have positive feelings towards the experience for the most part, so I do recommend giving it a try if you love monster hunter and have A LOT of patience. - The story is kinda weak honestly. It is very much an anime for young boys where friendship triumphs over all, the best friend turns into an angsty rival, and the villains are comically evil to the point its annoying. I think the general writing and most characters are fine, but the overall story points feel childish without merit. - The game has a strong narrative focus on the bonds you form with your monsters, but gameplay encourages you to treat them as disposable given the system of egg hatching and channeling where you essenetially re-roll until you get a good monster, and then use up other monsters to make them stronger. It almost felt like playing a gacha game. - While travelling the world there are various obstacles that require specific monsters to overcome e.g. you need a monster that can Jump to cross a gap, or a monster that can Swim to cross a river. It's extremely similar to Pokemon's Hidden Machine moves, except in this case, you cannot teach a monster how to swim, it must simply be a monster that can innately swim. This means your party composition is extremely heavily influence by what utility they have rather than your enjoyment of the monster or even their combat potential. This problem is reinforced by the fact you can only carry 5 monsters (6 later), and can only change them by going back to a town. - Simply finding monsters to obtain materials, eggs or quest clears felt extremely tedious a lot of the time. I get that the point was to have rare monsters, but this ended up dragging things out in a way that wasn't enjoyable. If you look up guides, most people recommend you obtain a specific monster that has the ability to force an encounter with a random monster which you use repeatedly until you find the monster you want. This is heavily reliant on chance, and is extremely dull. - Your character's equipment strongly dictates how well you'll fair against enemies, so logically you should switch equipment for better elements/skills to face specific foes, but so many story important enemies are given to you by surprise and offer no chance to change equipment without reloading a save. - Combat revolves around a scissors-paper-rock system where certain attacks trump other attacks, and the dialogue given when you lose such a match-up insists that there's a "pattern" but in most encounters it feels the enemy monster picks at random, though admittedly biased towards certain attacks depending on the monster. Regardless, it didn't feel good to play. - The other parts of the battle system are fine, but overall lacking in enjoyable complexity.Show moreShow less
