Starting with the positives, the style of Monument Valley is excellent. Visually, the game looks clean, colorful, and inviting. The concept of MC Escher-style perspective puzzles is a neat one and I think this game could have been truly great if the first ten levels were the tutorial chapter before the game properly began. That said, I'm more than a little confused as to how Monument Valley is rated overwhelmingly positive. The main game is about one hour long. That would be fine if it was an hour of good, quality gameplay, but this game seems to have focused almost entirely on style to the detriment of gameplay. No thought or problem-solving is asked of you until the last level, which is level 10. It's worth emphasizing that this is the last 10 minutes of an hour-long game. Prior to the final level, each level has basically no wrong way to "solve" it. The solution is immediately at hand and all you have to do is click a couple elements and wait for your character to walk. Video games are a uniquely interactive art medium, and I don't feel Monument Valley takes sufficient advantage of that. I wonder if people would have enjoyed the experience just as much if it were instead a shortform video of the game playing itself. If that's your jam, more power to you. If, however, you're looking for a puzzle game that builds on mechanics and asks you to thoughtfully consider and solve its challenges, I recommend you look elsewhere.Show moreShow less
Monument Valley fought against time. And it won. It is just as stunning as the day I downloaded it on my phone in 2014.Show moreShow less
IF YOU GOOGLED TOP PUZZLE GAMES 20XX READ THIS REVIEW The game is pretty and the sound design is great, the gameplay is boring, one dimensional, and the first puzzle hard enough to force you to activate any brain cells is the LAST step to the LAST puzzle IN THE GAME. This was like if first two puzzle of the witness were the difficult of the whole game, practically auto-pilot gameplay. It lacked substance and depth in the level difficulty, the ideas were great but never fleshed out enough to be appreciated. The levels were NOT memorable either as I only remember the very last level. This was because I actually stayed on that level for more than 30 seconds. If you want a pretty storyboard with cool sound this is great, but its not a puzzle game, this is a visual novel.Show moreShow less
I played this game years ago on my IPod Touch 5th Gen and absolutely loved the game. The art style is so simple but cute, vibrant colours and the best part about it, the the music and sounds. Obviously the puzzles are very fun and well thought out and can keep you scratching your head for a good minute to figure out what you gotta do. I'm so happy to see this game to come to PC and in their best editions so you get all DLC, The controls were really nothing you could've messed up so happy to see it all works great with a mouse. I hope Both games will reach out to more people that missed it when it first came out or just to people that like chill puzzle games in general.Show moreShow less
I would call this game more of a point and click adventure game than a puzzle game. Out of the 19 puzzles in the game, I think maybe a fourth of them actually required me to put some thought into figuring them out? The art is pretty but what little story there is is nonsensical at best. I can't see this mobile 'puzzle' game being worth it at full price and to be honest I got it from a humble bundle and still don't know if I paid too much. 6.0/10.0Show moreShow less

Cool visuals playing with perspective but that's it. Finished the first 10 levels in 50 minutes without challenge. If you are familiar with puzzle games and want something a little challenging, pass on this one. If you just want something relaxing and satisfying to look at, go for it. P.S.: Monument Valley 2 has a beautiful soundtrack that I strongly recommend.Show moreShow less
This is not a game, this is art.Show moreShow less
An overrated walking simulator mobile game. There is no puzzle element to any of these levels. Yes the game looks very good, but most of the gameplay consists of waiting. Its not a bad game by any means, but I expected much more from an Overwhelmingly Positive game. It feels like so much wasted potential. This game would be amazing if the puzzles were actually somewhat challenging.Show moreShow less
