I wanted to love this game, and in many ways I did. The controls are tight and satisfying, the games are typically and appropriately frustrating, but balanced, and the mutators add a great twist to gameplay. Now, the marketing for this game is a bit questionable. While there is an element of chaos to the gameplay, it's an organized chaos that lends itself more toward fierce competition than wacky party antics, since most of your deaths will be your own fault even amidst the layers of changing rules. Make no mistake: this is a game about gitting gud. What's more, in the time I've owned it I've watched the developers steadily iron out nearly every bug or issue I had upon buying this game, and it's flourished into a strong couch game - that is, if your couch friends have the stamina for it. Unfortunately, its potential as a couch game is stifled by its hardcore influences, and your average couch guest will be overwhelmed by the pressure. This is no Ultimate Chicken Horse or Duck Game, people will be frustrated by the immediate and obvious skill differentials. Even more hardcore guests will have trouble simply by virtue of your familiarity with the game, leading to an unfun situation of curbstomping your friends or trying to avoid doing so while they figure out how the rules work. All of this brings me to the online. At the surface, this game seems built for the online environment. With such intense competition and plenty of competitors, the game should be at its finest where you can play against other people who get a chance to play and practice. The developers have made improvements even here: they've added in-game chat, and the matchfinding button has been drastically improved to actually be a viable alternative to the Server Browser. That said, Move or Die's proverbial nail in the coffin is the player-hosted servers. Stable connections are more common than reviews would have you believe, but every millisecond of latency tilts the game in favor of the host, the only player playing in realtime. Games like Bomb Tag are utterly ruined by poor connections, which will leave joining players wondering why they ran on top of a player for 3 seconds or more without passing the bomb, yet the host seems to magically be able to pass the bomb to them from half a screen away. There's no joy in winning a game you can't lose, and Hosting a game in Move or Die sets up exactly that. When I do play, I no longer Host in order to avoid this inescapable advantage. Move or Die desperately needs a better online system. I'm not going to pretend I know everything about PvP network infrastructure, but even equally-poor dedicated servers would be more satisfying distributing the lag to everyone instead of being explicitly in the Host's favor. An imbalance like this is unacceptable in a competitive game, and it ruins the thrill of the experience knowing its effects. No one wants to finish a match and question whether they only won because it was their own game. Until this game has a fair online system that either advantages or disadvantages every player based on lag instead of all but one, I cannot recommend it in good conscience.Show moreShow less
Move or Die will demand every one of your senses to keep up as you bash, slash, and crash into your fellow players in some seriously fun chaotic mayhem. The fast pace is refreshing and soon becomes second nature as you focus on each mini-games unique objectives and try to destroy your opponents in twenty second intervals.Show moreShow less
When trying to unlock new content, it is extremely difficult if you have a high win percentage because everyone kicks you out of the online games (which are the only games where you can unlock new skins). Also, if you are about to win an online match, everyone will leave the game (without any real worry of being penalized) and you will receive no points for your wins towards new content even if you won every match against players before they left. The experience bar will just say "you have to play against others online to gain points". Yeah, that's great. I did, but because they quit I might as well have just played against the computer the entire time. Then, when they updated the game the most recent time (July 6, 2016), it seems to have become entirely unplayable for mac users (it won't even run).Show moreShow less

At its core, this is a great game. However, even though you cannot buy content, the new game modes are locked behind in-game currency walls that are unreasonably too high for casual players. I play once in a while with friends (off and on over the past few years), but we don't want to grind the game to get all the content that we technically paid for. The game really gets old when you only have a few modes to choose from. It's a shame because this game is a fantastic party game, but you shouldn't have to grind to make the game reach its fullest potential. I'd be fine if the cosmetics were locked behind the in-game coin wall, but not game modes and modifiers. Cannot recommend this in its current state.Show moreShow less
My friend never said "Fk you !!" even once to me since I knew him but he just did it. 10/10 Indeed the best friendships ruining game.Show moreShow less
Its a fun game but WTF why do you need to play for soooo long to get unlocks? You only start with like six games and they get old FAST. Why don't you unlock something regularly? Its such a huge flaw with this game. I've played for 4 hours and have around 1k in coins I have a win rate of 35% (average player), a legendary game mode or mutator can cost 10k+ coins. To unlock every gamemode it cost - 49,000+ coins (added them up). Mutators cost - 46,000k+ coins. I find it completely unreasonable to expect a player to spend so much time on a coin grind to unlock core chunks of gameplay.Show moreShow less
Lifelong gamer here. Long story short.........funnest time online in a LONG time. Must play. Spread the word folks!!!!!!!Show moreShow less
the game locks most of the game modes and makes you grind to unlock them, so you're stuck playing the same few minigames over and overShow moreShow less
