Murky Divers? I'd argue they should rename this game to Murky Drivers for how much driving you do vs diving and having fun. Would I recommend this game to my friends? Honestly, no. I played a good almost 7 hours straight on stream with a bunch of friends totaling up to a total of 7 (swapping between a total of 10 people) at most at one point; all of which I think ultimately 3 of them genuinely enjoyed the game and I can see them going back PROS: - Unique in the sense of collecting underwater - Enemies are unique and interesting enough to be scared of at first - The "Special Event Circles" are fun, but do lose their mysteriousness/excitement at the 3rd encounter - The adrenaline to sell everything before the timer runs out to reach quota is the best part of this game CONS: - The maps themselves feel soulless and an eyesore after 2 trips of repeating the same ones; also note they always have the same exact design so there's nothing refreshing for each instance - Although the submarine mechanics are intuitive and fun to figure out at first, later on it feels like it DRAGS and you just want to get to the gameplay we all bought the game for: collecting stuff and survive the horrors of the deep blue. The actual prep to get to each and every place eventually felt more like a chore than it did playing a game - Collecting the body parts is very bland. What do I mean by this you may ask: Games like lethal I looked forward to getting the Apparatus or the Mask. In R.E.P.O I looked forward to getting the slow time hour glass or the love potion. Murky Divers? Literally nothing memorable or fun. I don't have this experience with any items in Murky Divers. - Out of all the enemies we encountered, there was really only one that proved to be any threat (the one that instant kills you and is very fast); every other encounter is easily dodge-able and hardly ever felt life threatening - You start off with no sense of direction, which is fine, but the problem about that here is that the "hub" AKA the submarine you pilot, can be daunting for the average person looking to just load up and lose their ♥♥♥♥ with their friends; instead most will find themselves in the submarine the first hour just to finally land somewhere and either play the whole 7 minute timer, or die within seconds and have to wait and do the whole submarine sequence again. TLDR: - Fun theme/concept - Special Events are fun to encounter - The Core Gameplay (collecting/swimming/facing enemies) is drowned away from the Hub (a submarine you're forced to pilot to get to each and every level), making the game feel like a chore - Maps feel like an eyesore after 2 repeats - Collected items are very bland - The enemies have fun designs, but none feel threatening except for one If you were expecting to just click and point at a map, jump into a level and ♥♥♥♥ around with your friends screaming at enemies as they chase you swimming away, unfortunately this game does no do that as easily as its core competitors: Lethal Company, R.E.P.O., Etc. There is good in this game as it has potential, but the bad just outweigh it too much. Time is very precious, and I'm not gonna waste 15+ minutes of my time driving just to get to the actual game, and play maybe 1-7 minutes of the actual core game, just to rinse and repeat the same thing to get back to the main gameShow moreShow less

Murky Divers is a finely polished game, and it is fun for about 2-4 hours, but fails in many core aspects. -Gameplay loop is as follows: Navigate to a site, swim through the site looking for items and avoiding the countless monsters/traps, tediously swimming back and forth from the sub, and managing your oxygen during the 8-minute time limit; repeat. -Sub management. This is actually one of the strongest aspects of the game, 2 player sub is alright, 4 player sub is fun, but the 8 player sub is where it's at. Most of the fun come from the people you play with, each person having a role on the sub is really neat, but can fall apart very quickly with even just one person not participating. -Movement is awful. Spamming/Timing space to move 'somewhat' faster is frustrating. Adding a Hold option would alleviate this immensely. -Monsters are annoying. There's a small variety to them; which wouldn't be a problem but WAY too many show up at once. Most monsters don't have gimmicks, they either damage you or exist to annoy you. -Scare factor/Horror. Adding onto the above point; Monsters show up way too often and you know exactly where they are because they are constantly making noise; completely negating ANY sense of surprise. -Difficulty. Everything's fine if you have a perfect team and play near-perfectly. There's no room for fun 'bits' or any sort of screw-up. if someone dies and they aren't recovered or if you don't recover enough parts, it adds to the near-permanent 'Wanted' meter which causes you to entirely reset if it fills up. it can be reduced slightly for a large sum of money, but in the end it's just not worth it due to the high cost. -inventory. Holding two items (one in storage and one in hand) is another part of the larger issue. it can be amended with the shopping cart, but you sacrifice the mobility of using other items. Notes: -I've only ever gotten as low as depth 4 so some issues may be rectified with a good team, however every depth seems roughly the same, more items, more monsters. I'm hopeful mod support will help with replayability, but for now I do not recommend it.Show moreShow less
In it's current state it's definitely worth the price. However, there are some things to be worked out before it's not overly frustrating to play for more than 30 minutes. - Implement a save system - Balance spawn rates for monsters as well as make it probable to avoid some. As is there's generally a player that has to run around baiting an aggro mob (or several) the entire time. - Support a bigger crew (6 would be ideal) - An extra item slot - Sometimes searching for dive sites can become a drag depending on what role you're filling. This often negates the enjoyable 8 minutes at a dive site when you feel like you spent just as long avoiding things on sonar to get there. I still recommend, as even if not for long periods of time it can be quite fun. Promising game!Show moreShow less
This game has a lot of potential, but it doesn't really seem to be in the place it should be yet. Getting into it is fairly confusing and it doesn't do a great job of onboarding new players. Additionally, the controls for this kind of suck. To grab items, you have to use your mouse and hold it, then press other buttons at the same time to use or store it. Letting go for even a second will drop the item, and that inconvenience is enough to drive me away from the game. Personally, I feel like this game would also benefit by adding a way to change your mic gain and sensitivity. Even adding a toggle mute option would be nice! This is a consistent issue Lethal-like games have as a whole, but it's still something that would be nice to see added in at least one of them. This next portion is personal opinion. I'm just not a fan of how the player models look. With how 'scary' everything else appears, the goofy player model takes me out of it. Especially when there are semi-realistic human heads in the game! At it's core, it's also incredibly simple - this isn't necessarily a bad thing. It feels like almost every counter to the monsters is just "run" or use the EMP, which again isn't necessarily bad as each monster has a cool unique design, I just wish each one had separate mechanics in addition to that. After the third or fourth mission, it just becomes increasingly more repetitive - playing with friends alleviates this, of course. This game has a lot of potential, but the flaws are a bit too much for me to enjoy playing. Edit: Fixed some grammar and wording issues + talked about mic sensitivity in the game.Show moreShow less
𝙈𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙉𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨: -No save system -Buggy -No Mods -Gets repetitive after some time 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙊𝙪𝙩: -Its going to have problems & bugs its "Early Access"; However, this game is 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙧 then "Lethal Company" & "Content Warning". -Since it just came out its going to be a bit repetitive the longer you play, however that's not a review that's just stating the obvious. It's also going to get updates. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙜𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 -This Game Is Underwater "Lethal Company" with a "Iron Lung" lobby mechanic with a "Psychonauts" aesthetic. -You are a Illegal Cleaner in the underwater future working for a "Big Pharma" company that makes meds as a cover up for there Deadly Experimental Sites. 𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨: -Unique Satisfying look -You don't lose everything if you die. You keep player upgrades and your score at the time of a lost run/death. -Incredibly fun in my opinion, what can i say the game just slaps (better then Content Warning's Game-play Loop). -"GTA" 6 Star wanted system that makes the game ram up with difficulty the higher the rank. -Until you decide to go DEEPER nothing is technically run ending, the game is so well balanced that until you decide to make it harder you can keep going in a single lobby for hours. -This game doesn't have a increasing Quota like "Lethal Company" instead you need to focus on that "GTA" wanted level, bribing cops with vending machine donuts to keep it low (6 Stars is Game Over). -The game is incredibly cheap given how fun it is. 𝙉𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙫𝙚𝙨: -There is a Enemy I refer to as a "Trench-Coat" & It's the games version of Lethal Company's "Bracken". -There is little escaping this enemy. -As far I know its the only enemy that can Instantly kill you. -Is it a problem;- no its a rare enemy that is more common the deeper you go so its suppose to be hard. However, it can be a run killer in my opinion taking out entire squads and frustrating overly serious players. -You need a mic to play this game. -Unlike Lethal company you need to talk to your teammates to get anywhere in this game. -One player operates the sub's "Sonar System" and can see "Blips" titled A0 though Z9. Another player operates a "Wave Emitter" and needs to match the corresponding "Blips" wavelength to a positive or negative outcome. The Player on the "Sonar System" then has to tell the "Driver &/Or Speed Controller"" to turn, slow down, or speed up. -Is this a Problem;- yes, but only if you don't have atleast 2 players with mics. There is no current way to show a person if something is bad or good without proper communication. This means you can't tell if your about to die, or if you need to stop the sub to even get to one of those "Deadly Experimental Sites". -Scrap is useless (You need items with a price-tag) -This game has alot of useless items, and if it doesn't have a price tag then it can't be used for anything. If you don't know what your doing you could be picking up useless items and doing nothing for your team. -Is this a Problem;- no just learn not to pick up those items.Show moreShow less
Mixed It's fun for a bit if you've played too much Lethal company. Has a few novel things going for it. The main gameplayloop is tedious and not rewarding enough Novel fun parts of gameplay: +Coordinating with 2-5 players to man a submarine +Navigation in three dimensional rooms -Movement isn't very enjoyable -Avoiding traps and enemies is not interactive and fun. they're just annoying things to swim away from -Finding and transporting items is a bit of a chore and not as rewarding as in LC and it doesn't interact with any of the games movement/enemy systems in a fun way -Manning the submarine while fun, is a short part of the gameplay loop you can mostly ignore if you want to - No lows and highs in tension. missions are 7-10 minutes long, enemies seem to be spawned in from the start, outside of nursing your oxygen meter every 4 minutes and finding your way back to the sub -no necessity to communicate with teammates during a dive except occasionally pointing them towards the exit. Needing to constantly swim away from enemies deters you from talking.Show moreShow less

The game has potential and i hope that a future update remedies some of the issues present. Currently i can only recommend the game to people who can deal with a lot of frustration. There is hardly any explanation (to a certain degree this is part of the concept) combined with unusual UX (grabbing stuff, inventory controls - why make it so quirky? there is no game benefit - only frustration) and in parts bad UI (e.g. getting 6 stars is bad - why not use skull icons then?). If you want to give this a try you should at least watch a minimal youtube tutorial or have a friend explain it before your first dive. While i think that the ingame "hints" are nice and fit the concept, it still lacks on overall context/introduction: "Who am i? Why am i here? Why is the planet flooded? Why is my sub filled with water and how does the oxygen make any sense in that regard?" (Well - not everything has to make sense, but currently oxygen serves only one means: "Stress / Pressure" or another level of frustration. You are already facing a steep timer for your mission, cannot carry more than 2 items - the oxygen level feels unneccessary frustrating.) I like that the devs thought about different submarine sizes for different player groups. I also like the voice system - although i feel it frustrating that i cannot talk to my dead comrades - often you are not even aware of dead players and they get bored by only spectating (It would be nice to at least keep talking, give them the ability to share their death experience and keep them engaged with the group still playing. Maybe use the voice system to make the dead sound ghosty). Using the fly as body part detector, the power cable EMP etc. are innovative and nice. The different enemies and mechanics are creative, but you end up running away most of the time as you have no means of killing them. This might work better in larger groups, but in the current state a solo or duo dive is rather .. yes .. frustrating. It might help if smaller groups could add more modules / carry more tools or to reduce the enemy count slightly. Or if at least the submarine is having some defense turret if you get chased. The game feels as if it is missing playtesting with more people in diferent scenarios.Show moreShow less
