It was about 2014. I played 2D version of this game in browser on some strange site. ... And I could only dream about something like that.Show moreShow less
Don't get me wrong, the game is great. I enjoyed it, but it was far too short, only barely scraping the 3 hour mark even when I took my time in some levels. Of course, that wouldn't be an issue for a game that'd be as replayable as this one, right? If only. Sadly, the game starts to turn into a weird platformer towards the last half of the game, with less and less fast-paced, action-packed combat the game has been advertising with. All the screenshots the Steam page shows are from the first few levels, which were an absolute blast, but once you get into the Sewer chapter, it slowly starts to get bogged down by a bunch of mechanics that are stuffed down your throat to the point where you end up not noticing the occasional pan lying on the ground - simply because you completely forgot that that is what the game was about in the first place. All you ended up doing was focus on some mini-puzzles that involved some minor parkour and generally just activating levers or similiar. Games like these need a level editor with workshop support, because even if I am tempted to replay the first few levels - those will be the only ones I will want to replay, which will only entertain me for another hour or two - if I am bored.Show moreShow less

I had just finished the game (don't worry no spoilers here) and enjoyed it so much. There are also modifiers to find in the maps to give this game some replayability. I am yet to try them but they look great. The mechanics in this game are also really good. You feel bad ass playing this game. I also was not expecting a very good story in a game about a talking banana but the story was amazing. Overall amazing game 9.5/10Show moreShow less
Coming from a pretty FPS and ADHD background, games like these don't appeal to me very much but this specific one gets a little repetitive after about 20 minutes of play. Taking the time to craft good combos can be fun and challenging but it is not everyone's cup of tea. I did appreciate the pace the of the game and it's art though.Show moreShow less
Before I played this I had a small penis, no girlfriend and no will to live. None of these things have changed, but the game is pretty good. update: my penis got biggerShow moreShow less
For all that I wanted to enjoy this game, and in some ways I do genuinely enjoy it, My Friend Pedro deviates too far from what would have been a winning formula in pursuit of precision platforming that the game's controls are ill-suited to. It captures the magic of the trailers in the first act, capitalising on open, organic-looking locations and level design that encourages the kind of flow that pushes you to dive in headfirst and rack up that combo. Chapters 1 and 2 are perhaps the most cohesive, interesting and engaging parts of the game, where experimentation is encouraged and rewarded. From there on out, however, the game leans heavily on heavily layered platforming sections and cuts back on the freedom you have in gunfights. From Chapter 3 onward, the game leans on these features more and more heavily, until Chapter 5 forces you though some pure maze-like platforming deathtrap nightmares that- -wasn't I supposed to be shooting people? Quite apart from the game losing sight of what made it an appealing prospect in the first place, a good amount of the movement mechanics don't feel tight or responsive enough to give players a fighting chance. The spin-dodge tends to last that little bit too long and inflicts such a massive penalty to your accuracy that in the midst of combat, you find yourself trading health in order to land a shot against the droves of bullet-sponge-y enemies that clog up the latter half of the game. Speaking of which, the combat balance seems once again to be slightly slanted against the player - I always felt like I was short of ammo, struggling to manage weapons that would run dry mid-combat with other weapons that I have to painstakingly reload between fights so I don't get caught short. For all that the game attempts to encourage speed, flow and precision, so much of the mechanics you have to make do with actively force you to compromise these goals. Aside from the nuts and bolts, the tone of the game doesn't really get off the ground in any meaningful way - it flirts with the weird and wonderful, but never goes far enough to become actually funny or striking. For all that the trailers touted a psychadelic, boundary-pushing experience, it plays things far too safe. If this gets Workshop support, so the community can create some more engaging and fluid maps, then I may honestly recommend this. For those people who enjoy this - that's you. Can't fault you. This isn't really what I'd bought into.Show moreShow less

A short fun little game which will take you a 2-3 hours to complete but the only replayability value lies in whether you like getting the highest score ('S' rank) on every level. Personally I don't see myself revisiting the game unless I want to replay the entirety of it. I would get it when it's got a big reduction in cost, even if you enjoy replaying levels to get the highest score, because this short of a game needs to be a little less expensive.Show moreShow less
Have you ever watched John Wick and thought: "Man, wouldn't it be cool if there were more parkour and also a talking, floating banana, more violence, bullet time, skateboards, and was a 2D side-scrolling shooter game that's a remake of a flash game from ten years ago that you played on your friend's dad's computer?" This is your game.Show moreShow less
It's just sort of..... ok. Not amazing, but ok. Again I wish Steam would give a "Mixed" review, because I still got a decent amount of enjoyment out of the game First half is really fun, shooting people and doing dumb stuff is probably the game's strongest point Past the midpoint though, the game starts being less and less interesting Less new mechanics are added, and the ones that are added are mostly timing and movement puzzle based Movement isn't this game's strong suit - despite being "fast" in a shooter kind of way, you move really slowly and awkwardly with no sprint Shooting bad guys in wacky ways is the game's strong suit, but past the midpoint you get less and less of that in exchange for annoying puzzles with bad checkpoints Also the story just.... Like I appreciate the tactic of going for "Hey we're just going to shoot some bad guys and screw the story". DOOM 2016 is a really good example of this. However, the pacing of the story is terrible. You wake up with no idea where you are, and you still have no idea about your motivations or reasons for being there until basically the end of the game. Then the boss + pedro exposition dump you a bunch of stuff, and that's the story. Game also is locked at 60fps and stutters like crazy (This might just be a problem on 144hz monitors) Also it's like 3 hours long. I guess I got my money's worth from it, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone. EDIT: My friend played this game at 1.5x speed and it looks way more fun. Idk why the developers decided on making everything so slow - especially when you already have a slowdown ability which makes the game play at a snails paceShow moreShow less
