Early access game that isn't labeled early access. You reach a point in the story where they just say the game is still in development.Show moreShow less
I love it, and I do recommend it, but with a few caveats. If you see these as negatives, don't get this game - you won't like it, and that's absolutely fine. If you see these as positives, then it's absolutely worth the full price (and more). 1) The initial learning curve is very steep. The game throws a lot at you, and you will feel lost (and maybe frustrated) for the first few hours. You will slowly settle in during the first 2-5 hours. 2) Each play session will give you progressively better rewards the longer you play it. If you only have 1 hour to spend on gaming, your progress may be 0.2x of someone who spends 2 hours. 3) This game has a lot of mechanics and features, and they get unlocked as you play, but the pacing is slow. The game progression requires considerable time investment, and it's quite the grind. Expect at least 40 hours to get into the initial stages of base automation, at least 80 hours to unlock the initial parts of end-game (mileage will vary). 4) Every session you play, you are risking the equipment you bring in with you (i.e. you die, you lose it). You can nullify this by "insuring" the equipment, but that's done by sacrificing other pieces of equipment. This is a non-issue later in the game, but makes early stages (when you can't insure everything) more daunting for a new player. It adds a mild "risk/reward" feeling to the game. 5) Awful - and I mean AWFUL - voice acting. At least for the English version. Can't comment on the Simplified Chinese. It's "The Room" levels of acting. All of the above can be considered as a "pro" or a "con" depending on who you are. Again, no shame if you don't think it's your cup of tea - I still send you love, and I hope you find some other game that is worth your time.Show moreShow less
The gameplay loop is a sound idea in principle, but how it's executed currently leaves a lot to be desired. The game sells itself on over the top horde defense, which does exist in the game, but once you get out of the tutorial, it becomes a looting slog with where you go from place to place barely shooting anything, and just checking every nook and cranny looting up until the final level of an operation where you heroically defend against doofenshmirtz's middest robo scorpions and robots. 4 hours of gameplay and the biggest fight I had after the tutorial was fighting off boredom. If this mission structure if what the team wants to commit to, which would be fine, then they really need to speed up this resource collection and or make it interesting. I don't want to spend hours plinking at disparate enemies in samey looking locations all to have my outpost looking almost exactly the same but just with a couple more machine guns on top. I like the many different systems they have in the game, like being able to drastically change how your gun functions through different parts or injections, and the many different ways you can fight, from first person on the ground, to vehicles, and commanding units. The ingredients are all there for a fun game, but the build up is waaaay too slowShow moreShow less
So the devs straight up said the product is NOT full release, they were pressured by their parent org to release as full. It is VERY MUCH BETA. The funsies is seeing you base demolish all your foes. It's rewarding to see your base grow, research complete and get really powerful; only to be challenged by a 600' tall robot that throws hundreds of missiles at you. If you die, you lose your character's gear and the gear from the mission, so it's punishing in the sense that you should be confident in your mission and base. it's not "easy". Challenge is fun. With that being said, the numerous negative reviews are from people that don't understand the game or their peanut brains couldn't grasp the concept of the game. E.g. reviews are saying the tediousness of having to run around the base to talk to people (YOU CAN TELEPORT TO EACH AREA); I saw a review that complained about having to talk to multiple people to build your base and do things (YOU CAN DO THIS ALL FROM THE BASE BUILDING SCREEN); and literally complaining about having to loot multiple maps then hold for one to get your gear (THAT'S LITERALLY THE POINT OF THE GAME). People just like to complain because they can't read or google for ten minutes. The ONLY negative reviews that have merit are the ones about voice acting and performance, it's not the best. I don't buy a game to listen to professional voice acting. With that being said a lot of the complaining is from people who have hundreds of hours in CoD, this is for reference of their "tier" of quality for acting. The optimization is horrid, I get about 15 FPS during big holds and my base isn't that big and the hoards aren't big, so I can definitely see the mass amounts of end game funsies will bring your computer to its knees (I have a 5900x, 4090, and 128gb 3600hz ram). My computer never gets extremely hot to throttle either, I stay around 45-50c no matter how hard it runs, the game itself just needs optimizing. Overall the game is STILL IN BETA (from the devs themselves), give it time. Blame the greed of VCs that bring this out too early. Support the devs that are making a fun game so they can continue to make it better. Stop complaining about not understanding the game, that is entirely user fault.Show moreShow less
So, I would like to preface this by saying I enjoy the game. Unfortunately, I cannot in good conscience recommend the game with a campaign that is unfinished after reaching a point in the progression where the story just stops at Ruined City Zone 4, which is not even where the game is supposed to end. After the credits, the objective list literally says "In Development Main Mission". The game is an unfinished product that was fully released that should have absolutely been early access. 1) The voice acting is terrible; that's all I will say on that matter since it's already been preached to the heavens. The loot system, I must say, can be quite frustrating. There are instances where you invest significant time and effort, only to be left empty-handed. Conversely, there are times when you're inundated with loot, which can be overwhelming. This inconsistency can dampen the gaming experience. 3) Server connectivity is a problem; my friends and I have yet to lose connection, but the lag is atrocious when it gets bad. And it will get nasty at random points. 4) Gear drops are inconsistent. You can get a tour perk saying powerful gear will drop, but I've had so many runs where you don't get "powerful" gear or any gear at all worth taking. It would be one thing if it meant I was getting high-tier materials instead of powerful gear, but this is also different. In addition, if you die and lose your run, all the gear you collected and equipped onto your character will be lost if you don't have it insured. So be very careful. 5) Base building is fun when it wants to cooperate. But when it does not, for whatever reason, some parts of your base either say "Lacks Support" without telling you why or how it is now lacking support for some structures. In addition, some structures you place do not want to snap not or adequately turn the way you wish to intuitively. It becomes a real chore in some cases. Some structures that you end up unlocking are fairly large, requiring you to spend quite a bit of time building and tearing down parts or your entire base once you find out you do not like how things have come together. Many of my hours have been spent in the building tool for your base and it really needs work. The Hellfire Turrets are incredibly large, nearly as large as the 406 ship deck guns. They take up too much space when space is already at a premium. Which is likely by design but it still makes it a chore to have to make work. 6) You can also craft mods you collect by turning in certain numbers of them to roll random weapon mods. You will likely not get the mods you even want for how many you need to turn in. And the quality of mods you collect also dictates how many mods you need to turn in before you can roll a random mod. There's no point in doing this, seeing as you can go collect the same mods with the same, if not better, degree of RNG than mod crafting with no control of the end product. 7) The difficulty ramp from the third area to the fourth area is also somewhat steep. While I had no issues with it, I have had more than a few of my friends and others I have talked to mention the gateway into the Ruined City was too steep. When you pair this with my previously mentioned point of gear and materials, not dropping with any semblance of balance makes progression difficult for some. When you then pair that with the connection issues to try and join someone who can take you into the higher zones, it just makes it unfun for those who try to use the co-op system. The long and short of this review is this: The game is absolutely unfinished, unpolished, and unoptimized. It takes great effort to enjoy the game and say, "Yes, I am having fun." It has also been a chore actually to get to that point. After unlocking everything, having built everything, and hitting an abrupt end to an unfinished story, there is a lot to be desired. What gameplay is there is fun. This game has potential. But only when it is actually a finished product. If you are considering buying this game, I would strongly encourage you to wait until they address the glaring issues, as well as wait for a sale.Show moreShow less
I'm actually very surprised with the negative reviews. While obviously the game isn't perfect right now, it is being worked on at a pretty rapid pace (4 updates at the time of writing) and I'm happy to support the devs. And be aware, this is a hard game in the more challenging difficulties and will punish players who are greedy. But that's the fun of it in my opinion, you want that swanky loot? Prepare to get slammed to bring it home. Some reviews I've read are a little dramatic too, if you don't prepare yourself, conserve your resources appropriately and use your trait skills properly, you'll struggle to get very far. This game can be unforgiving and I love it. (EDIT: They made a fix to my negative criticism, so removed from the review as it's no longer relevant)Show moreShow less
Update 7/4/2025 I looked at the website in both languages and at this point it appears to be abandon-ware. There have been no updates for a year on any of the social media and no steam updates that said anything about being feature complete. I was hoping i could update this to a more positive review but i can't do that now. Even if they just finished the story I would switch this to positive. I loved this game a bit quirky but fun and challenging. The game is NOT Complete the story campaign ends before the final boss and gives you a message to wait for the last update. I can't recommend a game that advertises as complete and then tells you 60 hours into the game its not done yet.Show moreShow less
There's a million reviews for this game, and a massive number of them are complains about the core gameplay not being what they want. Which is fine, but I think a lot of these could have been avoided if there was a review that actually explained what this game...is. So I'll make one. This game is PRIMARILY Escape From Tarkov. At your home base, you set your gear loadout - armor, weapons, attachments, inventory items like grenades and medkits. Then, you leave on what is called a "Tour," which is a series of sequential excursions into procedurally-generated maps for the purpose of getting new gear, crafting materials, and recipes. These missions are what I would call "Fine." They're fine. Most enemies at the point of the game I'm at pose absolutely zero threat and only exist to be instakilled. There's a finite and somewhat small number of map options that you will encounter, and you're going to start seeing repeats immediately. In the snow area, there's one small house model, but with two minor variations, AKA one has a locked door in the back and the other one doesn't. Sometimes you'll see both houses in the same map directly next to each other. There's a large supermarket static map where that is always 90% the same, but with a small pool of Points of Interest that can be chosen, like a watchtower to climb or something. Like I said, you'll see the same locations over and over, and while the loot is randomized, the distribution locations aren't. So, the more you see each site, the faster you'll get at looting them. Obviously it's not great that the solution to repetitive maps is "just play the game faster" but, hey, the game's good but it's not perfect. So, after you finish like, five or ten or fifteen little maps, the end of your tour means it's time for Extraction Day, which is the tower defense portion of the game. Back at the base, in addition to your gear loadouts, you also set up your mobile base that goes with you to each map. There's a ton to consider here, and I think this is what people kind of wanted the entire game to be. You need to load up enough guns to fend off the enemy, but each gun requires ammo. You can make ammo dispensers, but each one has a 60s cooldown, so you need multiple. But, each ammo box also costs 100 "Material" - you get material for killing enemies (1 per kill), but your base also passively collects materials from resource nodes nearby. If they're out of reach, you can extend you're bases Zone by using pylons, which can also enhance your bases overall Power. Power also boosts the damage of all your guns, so you want to make as many pylons as you can. You can also build Small Generators to buff your Power, but these are base-mounted objects, so you need space to place them. You have a finite amount of space in your base on which to mount things - you could maximize that by making a million walls, but those will also block the line of sight of your turrets. Like I said, a ton to consider. The difficulty of the extraction and tower defense segment depend on how much loot you're trying to leave with - higher value of loot, the longer the waves go, though there is a cap. There's also various modifiers you're given the option of taking throughout a Tour that can increase the difficulty in exchange for better rewards. Most of them are something along the lines of "gain double gold, enemies have 30% more attack," things like that. The primary reason for going out and doing these tours is to improve your mobile base. You farm recipes for new turrets, get materials to craft upgades - 90% of the metaprogression in this game is tied to the base. It should be noted that, because this is a Tarkov-like, there is a permadeath component to it. If you die on any of the extraction missions, or if you lose on the tower defense, you lose 99% of the loot. You keep...SOME items but I cannot find any consistency. If your base is destroyed, you just lose the gear, but the player can still emergency extract to keep your equipment and inventory. If you die, it's all gone. There's a main character who cannot die, but then you can also recruit additional units who can die. You might wonder why you would want to use one of these guys at all if you risk killing them, and...yeah. There's a practical reason to do it - these characters are all objectively stronger than ther MC because they have more skills and passives, but again, the risk makes it a REALLY tough sell. You can ensure equipment to make sure you don't lose it, and there's a chance they wont permanently die, but I can imagine losing a maxed out really strong character would be really tough. This permanent loss mechanic seems to be the second main thing people complain about. Its deceiving because for the first five or so hours, the game is pathetically easy. But, because of that, it's hard to know if your base is sufficiently geared up to win the next difficulty level up that you're unfamiliar with. I lost a two-hour Tour because the final base defense had three lanes of enemy attacks - up until that point, there was only one lane. So, three times harder than anything I'd experienced, and so obviously I was underprepared based on how easy the game had been thus far. I lost an hour-long base defense in the final ten seconds and lose most of my loot, and there's just no getting around the fact that it feels bad. I also want to briefly mention the story, which is basically nothing. AI have taken over the world (Terminator-style AI, not "we made a chatbot that draws anime tits"-style AI) and you're trying to fight back. This is a Chinese game, and so the dialogue is a little stilted, but the voice acting is SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ funny. They got like...two native English-speakers for the VA, so most of the voices have weird intonations that are totally normal for ESL speakers. But, then you have certain voice actors with Chinese accents who then also are doing impressions of other accents. There's a Chinese voice actor who is performing a VERY strereotypical African American voice and he can't keep it consistent, he keeps wandering into Chinese Louisiana, or Chinese Jamaican, its so insanely funny. There's also Chinese Australian woman, there's a Chinese Russian woman, lots of great stuff here. Anyways, this is a really unique game that pulls a little bit from a million different genres of game. I think that, if you're interested in the Tarkov looting gameplay, that will be a much better indicator of whether or not you enjoy the game than if you're looking for a raw tower defense experience. There are other game modes the devs have included that significantly cut down on the Tour Mode Tarkov components, but they're not the core gameplay loop. If you're willing to put up with the amount of jank that comes from a Chinese dev team that heavily utilizes the Unreal Engine Asset Store, there's a cool gameplay experience here. This game reminds me of Metal Gear Survive, another very poorly-reviewed game that I really liked, partially because it only cost like seven dollars. Fourteen dollars for this game is just right, and if you're interested in the experience I described here, you'll probably like it. Also it has multiplayer!Show moreShow less
Game is dope for looting and Basebuilding grind stuff. Fast paced and fluid gameplay that is just fun. I just rate the chinese censorship in the game which makes use of my Nickname impossible (Seems like Raven is an issue for Chinese gov). Also, If I want to name my base Taiwan or Winnie, developers shouldn't censor it or call naming inappropriate. The only inappropriate thing is that censorship.Show moreShow less
