The game feels rushed. They took way too many creative liberties with the remake. They ruined Pac-Man's movement by making his butt bounce cancel his momentum for the first couple jumps, and this completely changes how movement feels in a very negative way. The music sounds absolutely terrible compared to the original. It uses some of the uncompressed tracks that were able to be extracted from the original disc, but for the rest of the music, it was all remixed terribly, and sounds actually worse than the original in my opinion. Overall, the game is a hodgepodge of very unnecessary and harmful changes that work to the game's detriment. The visuals are decent, but that means nothing when the game itself feels terrible to play. On the other hand, the visuals here are obviously a huge improvement, and seeing these levels brought back in HD is stunning and very surreal. Also, I can very much appreciate them adding more to the boss fights to make them interesting, as that was a particular weak point of the original game. The negatives I outlined I think are superficial enough to where they can most likely be fixed with either mods or an update, but as it stands, I don't think that Pac-Man World: Re-Pac is worth it. Other nitpicks but worth mentioning: -The way the Pac family is kidnapped in the opening cutscene should never have been changed. -Gibberish dialogue in cutscenes sounds terrible. If they were going to remove the original voice acting, they should have made the characters silent. -Toc-Man's new character design is terrible. His old one was uncanny and scary, and this should have been kept. -The flutter jump is a completely useless addition. Much like the new butt bounce, it cancels forward momentum, and this completely ruins it. -Pac-Man's large form when he eats a power pellet just hinders your movement, and it cancels out the level's music. Once again a completely unnecessary change in my opinion. -In the Anubis boss fight, the event trigger for the second phase is broken. -Slot machine bonus at the end of levels is unskippable, even though in the original game it was. There are most likely many more that I am missing, but these are all just more reasons why you should emulate the original over playing this dumpster fire of a remake. The fact that it is a remake carries no merit when it makes the game worse at a fundamental level. I'm happy that this series is getting the attention that it deserves, as the original Pac-Man World was one of the first video games I had ever played, but I believe that the direction this remake took was a misstep. ADDENDUM: They fixed the music! It's still not perfect, but it is such an improvement over how it was before.Show moreShow less

The only better things about this is the music and the easier platforming in comparison to the PS1 version. -No voice acting. -Slide move is gone. -Changed cinematics that have less charm, less personality, less emotion, worse directing and worse animation. -The charactar redesigns are awful. Ms Pacman in particular. -Overal worse presentation that feels a little soulless. The sound design in particular is dull and flat. On its own its probably an ok-ish platformer, but i would stick to the PS1 version if you can.Show moreShow less

Not polished. Rev-Rolling off a ramp gave inconsistent results no matter how long I charge it up, causing me to die a bunch. No step-up, no input buffer, circular deadzone, manual save defaults to file 1, etc. Aspect ratio was slimmer than 16:9 in fullscreen. (Should I mention no msaa/ssaa?) I don't know if I should be sorry for doing this, but unfortunately the remake didn't live up to the original title. I mean, when you deal with nostalgia (remakes) you shouldn't remove anything from the original game and add something different to cover it up, mainly because of details that are attached to one's heart. The mini-games were removed (maze and classic mode), cinematics, plot, some stages and bosses are changed... If you didn't play the original PS1 version, it's a cool family friendly game, otherwise it's another remake disappointment.Show moreShow less
