Solid game but needs AI disclosure There are some blatant AI art smells like garbled signage, illogical object placement and missing fingers. The dev has denied using AI, but has locked threads questioning this and hasn't credited a single artist with any online presence/portfolio. My issue isn't so much the usage of AI art itself - that's another can of worms - but rather their unwillingness to disclose it. It's a shame because the gameplay has been satisfying in the time I've played it (and note the overwhelmingly positive reviews...) but this sets a harmful precedent and should be scrutinised.Show moreShow less
I don't want to not recommend this game just because I have carpal tunnel. But I think the next fix the dev should implement is an accessibility option so you don't have to hold down the mouse button constantly while cleaning or doing repairs. The way the controls are currently implemented makes me unable to play for longer than 15 minutes at a time.Show moreShow less
The dev has gone on record as the game having no AI. There is no doubt in my mind this is not 100% true. The Japanese art has tons of mistakes that a human artist or Japanese artist would catch. I think I can explain so that you can see for yourself and decide. 1. Upper left: In "Game Center", "Game" is written twice. Vertically as "ゲーム" then horizontally as "ゲム". Even if a human artist didn't understand Japanese, why did they write it horizontally AND vertically, AND THEN misspell only one of them? 2. The big red restaurant center frame: Should say 花そば, but only one of the two dots (") is there. Highly unlikely an artist would see there should be two dots, and only do one. A single dot doesn't exist in Japanese. 3. This is the most blatant. "Ramen Izakaya" on the right should use ラ for "Ra", but instead they used "フ". Normally I'd say this could be a non-native mistake, HOWEVER the character is PERFECTLY sized, and you can see the artist left space for the stroke they didn't write. How would a human know to make space for a line they're forgetting? If they wrote the wrong character, it would be the same height as the others. 4. Theres more, if you check the character like the カ on the yellow karaoke sign on the left, you can see it has a random, half-shaded part. The other text doesn't do this, but AI text does this all the time. Now, I'm actually not anti-AI, but I am anti-disclosure, and the dev is out there making statements claiming no AI is used, which I think is wrong. The Japanese characters are suspiciously well for someone making basic mistakes. Maybe the dev doesn't know, I tried to give them feedback so they could verify if it's commissioned art.Show moreShow less
Game is good. I do this sort of work for a living so there's bias there but it says something that I can play a game thats very similar to my actual work and still find it enjoyable. If you like to tinker this will scratch the itch. Most of the items you fix share very similar if not identical layouts to their homage they are paid to. The Xbox is very much the same as cracking open a real OG Xbox. So for those that have IRL experience with these devices its fun in that regard. I did find some things a little lackluster. Namely, I felt that shop customization was pretty limited. Definitely wish there was more there to make the shop your own. Secondly, some of the upgrades to me either come too soon or arrive too late. The air spray is great until you unlock the max tier brush very quickly after mostly rendering it useless. The shredder is nice but again, to me it feels like it comes too late to be of real value unless its one of the upgrades you spring for early. Auto cleaners also fall into this category. Either you get a device where it takes you long enough to take apart, clean and repair where the time spent waiting for the auto cleaner to do its thing is useful or you are proficient enough to just do it manually faster rather than however fast the auto cleaner is. There were several times I miscalculated and ended up sitting on my hands for the cleaner to finish. Bills also fall into a weird category where they exist but also feel like they dont. I get its tagged as a cozy game but its really a mechanic that fades into the background. You are never pressed for time or money, I feel like this could have been leveraged more and to greater effect. Overall despite the minor gripes, the game is definitely worth it whether you pick it up on launch discount or full price. I have extracted more fun out of this than I reasonably expected and I think you might too.Show moreShow less
Undisclosed genAI in a ton of the Steam assets, wallpapers, etc. Paperclips clipping through folders, sidewalks floating off the ground, spiral binding on notebooks that are also regular folding notebooks in the opposite direction. If you're going to use genAI, disclose it so people can make conscious decisions about it. Regardless of your opinion on genAI, failure to disclose it is fraud. It is possible these assets were outsourced and the devs did not know, but until this is either disclosed or corrected, I would not advise purchase. As the devs have now replied (though the link was wrong) they have at least admitted that genAI was used in the production of Steam assets, however they have taken to silencing some people talking about it in the discussions unless they are supportive. This review will stay negative.Show moreShow less
Watched a few vids about this game when people were playing the demo, thought it sounded like a fun relaxed game. Read a few reviews saying you can blast through the story, but I wanted to take my time. I played it and ignored an item on my to-do list. This let me just continue to repair at my own leisure without progressing the story. I was able to upgrade tools, my shop, and introduce new options without running out of game. I dont know.if it exists, but I would appreciate a game mode that is just endless repair, as this is probably my favorite relaxation game I've bought for myself so far. At 9pm I told myself I would go to bed at 10, then I realized it was 11 and I REALLY needed to go to sleep. It was a fun lose yourself game that kept me entertained which is wonderful at around 1gb download. I am hopeful that we will get more.Show moreShow less
Great game overall, concept is nice, cozy. But damn, AI usage.. I had a weird feeling about the art of the characters, and proceeded to check every bit of official art I could find, and (with the help of artists friends) managed to find some clues leading my to think generative ai has been used. Concept arts varies a lot from one to another, one of the characters has 4 fingers (still doing this error in 2026..). i'm not saying the whole art is ai gen, nor the research or else, but there is definitely at least some touch ups using AI, to have final results. Despite that, devs have been saying that there is no AI usage at all in the whole game. Might have been tricked by their artist, idk. I'm still open to have an answer from devs/artist, to have proofs of them not using AI, but for now, I can't recommend this game.Show moreShow less
Use to take my electronics apart when I was younger out of curiosity and later to clean them when I got older. From my Nokia, Razor, PSP, PS1, SNES, and N64. This game is such a flash back to those times having these devices. Such a gem of a game. Mega relaxing and well worth every penny.Show moreShow less
TLDR: IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT USE OF AI ART DO NOT BUY. IF YOU DO NOT LIKE DEVELOPERS LYING ABOUT USE OF AI ART DO NOT BUY. Otherwise, relatively fun game. The actual game play is fun and I can tell there was effort put into the dialogue and character concepts which I very much appreciate but there are a couple glaring issues with the developer/marketing. The game very clearly with out a doubt uses AI assets. This is extremely distracting every time I see a character. If/when a mod comes out to asset swap the characters I will be doing so in a heartbeat. What makes this issue worse however is this game does not label itself as using AI assets and the developer has denied using any in the steam forms. This blatant lying is sinister at best.Show moreShow less
