TL;DR 3/5, Highs are high, lows are low. Feels like pretty but unfinished nostalgia bait instead of love letter. Buy Terminator or wait for heavy discount. I will be lambasted for being negative to another holy cow of low standards. But I cannot be dishonest because I love hero. Game is very mediocre or more precisely, it’s amazing shooting and skeleton for gameplay, wrapped with unfulfilled potential and disrespectful nostalgia bait. Shooting is fun, makes you feel powerful, diversity of enemies is great and skills splendid. All with nice graphics to boot. But what’s the point if speech skill do nothing of worth because there is no place to use it outside of first region? Why when I unlocked safecracking skill, there were no safes anymore in game? Why using the same Auto-9 motherboard, ED-209 takes minutes of mindless grind while LAST BOSS goes under a minute? What’s a point of making Cobra if you use it only in one mission. Same goes for story. Side activity and quest are nice, and then you have main plot that seems to be written by AI. New main antagonist with goal and motivation all over the place, and secondary being out of character that I cannot even discuss because with how little char there are, it would spoil everything. Ending is just flavour text, no real gain from your decisions, that game seem to point to proper choice of action already. Reuse of movie designs in story also is unconvincing. It’s not homage, its praying on nostalgia and trying to cram it into the story so it would fit. After Terminator I had my expectation. There were not fulfilled. I don’t care if its lack of money, team, time or ideas. For that price, content is NOT satisfying me. Base for perfect gameplay is there, shooting and skills. But that’s not enough. Everything else is just underdeveloped or not used. After Terminator I was like “That was fun”. After Robocop I feel nothing, maybe happy only to get it out of my PC. I wish I could give neutral but with how many people will be like "Game Shooty, Game Pretty, Game Good" I think it will be more honest this way.Show moreShow less

MY RATING: ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔ ✔ ✘ ✘ ✘ ✘ 6 / 10 My decision to give it a thumbs down wasn't an easy one for me, but I simply can't in good conscience recommend the game at the full purchase price. I paid $20 for the game and anyone who can buy it at a similar price and isn't expecting anything great may end up being pleasantly surprised and having fun with the problematic game. The game stands on two solid feet, but is constantly too monotonous and doesn't put enough emphasis on the cool RoboCop. At the same time, Teyon captured the original stylistically and in many ways well and tells a story about RoboCop and Alex Murphy that could have been shown in the cinema back then. The One-Man Army – Better than expected, but still not really good https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3101618112 The story of the game picks up directly after the second film in which we slip into the armor of RoboCop Alex Murphy to end a hostage situation in the building of the Media Break TV Station Channel 9. And often with bloody violence. So that's what RoboCop does. But the “cleanup” with the crazy punks doesn’t start with a shooter passage as expected, but instead gives a little foretaste of what the game is like. We leisurely walk through the streets in front of the building and first talk to the police before we go into the TV station and the powerful Auto-9 pistol is released from the leg holster. Now it's a matter of shooting the punks who have taken over the station to pieces. So that's what RoboCop does. The action is classic. Running, aiming and shooting, all without ducking, taking cover or anything else. As in the films, we move RoboCop through the level with the nimbleness of a tank while the enemies fire wildly at him. The handgun, the Auto-9, has unlimited ammunition and packs a punch, sending blood squirting with every hit. If you hit your opponents in the right places, their heads will pop or arms will fly around. The shouts like “I lost my hand” basically sound completely stupid, but that fits perfectly with the style of action films of the 80s and 90s and in this case also clearly with RoboCop. The classic shooter levels play exactly as you would expect from a RoboCop game. Teyon has implemented the feeling of being a heavy machine, the heroic soundtrack of the film when you shoot your way through the enemies, quite well here. But right after the hostage-taking at the beginning, the rude awakening follows. Between the action sections, we constantly move through semi-open areas such as the police station or part of Old Detroit and interact with police colleagues or the population to solve side quests. In principle there is nothing wrong with that because a little change from the shooting can't hurt. But when I have to write parking tickets for illegal parking, have to stomp through the entire police station again and again to collect signatures for a “get well soon” card, or have to carry a drunk person to the detention cell, then it somehow feels “like the wrong movie”. What doesn't make the whole thing better are the rigid conversation partners who show no emotion whatsoever, which makes the whole thing even less interesting. RoboCop's model, on the other hand, has by far the greater attention to detail. Although the side quests are optional, they bring with them experience points, which are not entirely unimportant in expanding RoboCop's abilities. In the talent tree you can, for example, invest in armor, combat or health, which are also some of the most important. Things like the ricochet indicator are nice if you want to shoot an opponent in the back, but they are just as unnecessary as, for example, technology, psychology or deduction. The technology helps you open safes, but unfortunately once you have the skills there are simply no safes left in the game. There is also a skill tree for the Auto-9. On the go you always find technical parts and circuit boards to increase the penetrating power or the dispersion of the pistol, for example. And it could have been so beautiful In terms of play, I find the game to be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, we have the fun shooter sections that at times show a touch of ingenuity, for example when you storm the occupied bank with a SWAT team and three ED-209 units and the whole thing becomes a little "who gets the most kills in the end has" competition between RoboCop and the SWAT team. But as soon as such sections are over, you have to fight your way through the semi-open areas again to complete any quests for any characters that somehow don't really fit RoboCop. The fact that there are really complex templates makes it all the more incomprehensible that these conversations and tasks are written in such a shallow and irrelevant way. There would have been so many opportunities to incorporate the satirical tone of the films into these quests and the gameplay. Except for a few, none of this can be found in the game. But what ultimately really breaks the game's neck is the terrible technology, which seems like it's from yesterday. The occasional film quotes thrown in don't help either. The game is based on the UE5, which, depending on the system, is hard to believe given the jerky and blurry visuals. Even if you set the settings for performance, the game still lags occasionally, but at least it can be played on weaker systems. You almost can't see any differences between epic graphics and performance settings anyway, because the game isn't really a beauty and is more reminiscent of games from days gone by with muddy and artifact-plagued in-game graphics and characters with stiff facial expressions. Maybe Teyon should have looked into the engine technology in more detail or simply had more budget. When the end credits of RoboCop rolled after around 12 hours, there was no “hate” like there was with Rambo, but the joy and disappointment about the game were almost balanced. The action is only really entertaining in the initial phase before it quickly becomes boring and later on requires the use of special skills much more than the shooting itself. RoboCop dies quite quickly if you are in the open line of fire, which means that you use abilities such as the protective shield or slow motion as often as possible, which turns into spamming of abilities. Varied even tactical shooting is largely absent here. In principle, it's all fun, but you can quickly see everything on the right and what little is special quickly wears out. This is mainly due to the playful design of the shootouts, which are often more reminiscent of shooting galleries than of a modern action title. So for me the game is a B title with a tendency towards category C, but which can keep fans of the original happy with the fun shooter passages. You get the feeling that the developers are big fans and the desire was foreshadowed to create a good game. Unfortunately, that alone isn't enough and anyone who doesn't consider themselves a RoboCop fan, expects more from a shooter than just moving and shooting, and also has higher demands on the technology should better stay away from the game. MY PROS AND CONS: ✔ Look of the template well captured ✔ great original soundtrack ✔ thematically varied levels ✔ Upgrade features ✔ multiple difficulty levels ✔ good combat system ✔ Atmosphere is well implemented ✔ Badass humor ✘ Stiff and loveless NPCs ✘ Side quests uninteresting and boring ✘ not enough satirical humor ✘ Artifacts and muddy graphics ✘ untraceable save points ✘ no replay value Review date: December 05, 2023 PLAYED WITH: ⌨️ 🖱 🎧 ⮩ VISIT ME IN MY LITTLE WORLD https://store.steampowered.com/app/1681430/RoboCop_Rogue_City/Show moreShow less
Die Hard, Escape from New York, and Predator are all franchises that need to be licensed to these devs. They can capture the feeling of what the IPs are like and deserve a larger budget from their publisher. Maybe give them another chance at making a Rambo game too now that they know what they are doing.Show moreShow less
What a missed opportunity this game is. Ok, Pro's vs Con's: PRO: 1. Nice looking game that runs butter smooth with every option possible maxed out on my RTX 4070 super. 2. Stable. The game didn't crash once from start to finish. 3. Combat is a Pro and Con. Pro? You are a murdering machine, quite literally. It's fun, gory and just downright entertaining. CONS: 1. 85% of the game if BORING. You simply walk around the precinct or mission area in the city talking to people. It's as uninspired as it is one diminutional. 2. Voice acting with only a few exceptions is terrible. 3. While the environment is pretty, it is a card board cut out. You can interact with only maybe 10% and virtually none of it unless a mission has been assigned there. You can't even pull your gun out unless you are in a combat area. It's like a RoboCop walking sim. 4. Recycled missions. Towards the end of the game you are sent back to essentially redo the same areas again.....lazy lazy lazy. 5. Combat is WAY too easy from start to finish. CONCLUSION: 1. If this game was 85% combat and 15% stupid walking around then I would give it a big thumbs up, but it's not. It's the other way around. 2. The combat is so easy I found myself purposely trying to make it hard on myself just for some..any sort of challenge and yes I played from start to finish on the hardest setting. The only fights that were even slightly challenging were the ED209 fights and they were pretty much gimmicky. 3. I wouldn't pay any more for this game than $8-$9. Otherwise pass. Grade C at best.Show moreShow less
The game is literally about a guy who died and still had to go to work.Show moreShow less
Needs a manual save option. It's a deal breaker for me and i've stopped playing it. It's hard to know exactly when the autosaves happen. A few times I thought the save happened, e.g. loading screen, but it didn't happen and I had to do it all over again. Fustrating.Show moreShow less
You might think I'm bias, but... ...this is probably the best Robocop game we are ever going to get. Better to wait 35 years, than to never get it at all.Show moreShow less
Good effort but really not interesting enough to keep playing. 1st section is all gunfight, which is nice. I mean, it feels like Robocop, the bullets pack a punch and the killing is satisfying, but that's where it ends for me. You do get the feeling of being a robot tank able to take bullets and not care while headshoting everything that moves, but the enemy AI is piss poor, just running at you without care of being blasted into pieces, the stages are corridors with open doors to fake rooms that lead nowhere. Then you finish the intro, and you get into 'investigations' and that for me is where it takes a nose dive. walking at 1mph trying to find clues highlighted by icons to 'scan' them (which takes 4 seconds each time) and MAYBE its a clue but most of the time its 'irrelevant to the case'... ans the maps are horrible. not only graphically, but the arrangements make no sense. street that end in a dead end everywhere, building entrances that have no logic (like a car repair shop with huge bay door, that lead to huge wall just 8 feet later... impossible to even think you can turn a car into the garage...). after 2hrs I had enough boredom and uninstalled.Show moreShow less
