Let me preface this by saying the game isn't bad and I enjoyed what I played. As of release you can complete what this has to offer ~10 hours which is excellent value. Sandustry plays more like a puzzle game than an automation game (if you are like me and don't like viewing YouTube videos of how to optimise things to maximum efficiency before going in). Once you've set something up to sort out the specific material you want you'll never have to touch it again and you just need to work out how to extract gold from the next step. For example the first step of sorting a material is sand > wet sand > put on a shaker to extract gold and seed. The initial shaker I made in the first 5 minutes of the game I didn't have to touch again for the next 10 hours of gameplay - again this is completely fine if that's what you expect going in, but I was expecting having to refactor my factory at some point, it just never happened. My next issue is the lack of UI explaining really how to do things, there's an attempt at guiding the player through what needs to be done, but it doesn't do a good job. Overall the game feels good, just a little shallow right now. These are probably early access quirks and things will probably change when it hits 1.0, but for now it's a mid review, I will try it again at version 1.0 and change my review if there's more depth.Show moreShow less
Played the demo for an unhealthy amount of time. Even before releasing, this game was great. For the price, it's an absolute steal. The factory must grow.Show moreShow less
I would not buy this game right now my game will play for about 10 minutes at most usually about 3-5 minutes then the whole screen will turn white or black if it doesn't just crash this is super disappointing because I've been looking forward to this game for quite awhile Edit: Most of the time when the black/white screen happens its when I'm unlocking new things in the menu I really hope this gets fixed soon because after googling for awhile it seems these bugs have been in the game for years ;(Show moreShow less
I have played Sandustry for coming up to 150 hours now, both as a playtester, and an early access content creator. I absolutely adore this game. It does exactly what I want a pixel sand sim to do, and then it has me build the machines to do that? Can't think of a better thing to do with my time.Show moreShow less
I realy hoped there would be more content for the early access release. Just when you think the game would open up and you would have to rebuild your starter base, the game just abruptly ends. You get the infinite sand thing, so you push the progression a little to maybe unlock some kind of automated mining for designing the final base, and you just get a pop-up that it's the end of early access. In the game's current state at its price point, I can't recommend buying it. The idea is novel, the execution is somewhat lacking, and the game overall feels clunky (I have to note that there have been many improvements since the beta). There's also just a certain lack of QoL. After finishing the game, I went for the 1 million achievement, so I said goodbye to my starter base and deleted the entire thing. This resulted in tiny patches of lava boiling lakes and the steam condensing in a huge loop. After spending half an hour dumping snow on lava, and mining the cinders, I started sorting all the different kinds of pixels and it was just a mess. The game really doesn't support tearing down and rebuilding bases. There's should be a way to easily delete pixels. The game also lacks multiplayer. Most factory games support multiplayer. There is a huge market out there. I will update this review if they decide to fix the game.Show moreShow less
I've played the demo so much and now that it is released I've bought it for my husband and I to play. I love this game it's a unique twist on factory games and I love the physics stuff that went into this game. It's my top game to play and I absolutely love it! I play on the steam deck and it plays wonderfully.Show moreShow less
Honestly maybe I'm just stupid but the way this game works is just confusing. Some reason shaking dirt creates residue and dropping that from a height creates gold and seeds? You then grow plants and burn them which creates petals which somehow becomes power for machines. Very little is logical at almost no point can you use logic to think something like "Oh this must do this when its heated" because most of the materials are complete fiction.Show moreShow less
Played the demo for hours, and this is by far the quickest I've ever bought a game. The passion put into this game is incredible.Show moreShow less
I'm so confused by how half the ♥♥♥♥ works in this game. Nothing is properly explained. I'm no stranger to factory games either. But there are all sorts of very unintuitive machines and material interactions you just have to figure out on your own. I will give it credit that this is an inventive take on factory games. Those same unique interactions might appeal to other people who want to comb through discussion pages and user guides to figure it all out. I don't have the patience for that anymore.Show moreShow less
