***Full disclosure, I made all the gameplay trailers for Shadow Gambit!*** I LOVE this game! Before I got this job I hadn't played Shadow Tactics or Desperadoes III, but I've always loved stealth games and this really god its hooks into me. How deep? Well, after 400+ hours logged on this game from making the trailers, I dove back into the game to play it "for real" from the beginning. It's been great to see the game all finished and polished up. For me, playing games after working on them is RARE, especially for one I worked on for over a year total. I'm so hooked on the mechanics of queuing up the actions of each crew member and intricately timing my moves to take out the guards one at a time. They're very satisfying to use (also good for getting cool trailer shots, btw) and it's the best when I surprise myself by coming up with new solutions to each situation. I'm by no means an expert, but I feel like making the trailers was like training for my experience of playing the shipped version of the game, haha. I love trying out different combinations of crew members, and some which I initially thought I'd use less I end up loving when I'm forced to use them. I have so little time to play games because of my job, but I can't stop playing this in my downtime. There's still so much more game for me to play, nevermind the badges for each character. I feel like I'm going to do my best to explore every nook and cranny of the game before I'm done. Another joy of playing it in its final version is hearing all the music in context (I always have music off when capturing footage). The music is excellent across the board, and I had great fun collaborating with Filippo on the Release Date trailer's sea shanty (I wrote lyrics and he did everything else) Highly recommended!Show moreShow less
Sweet Baby Inc. Game is just a carbon copy of their Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, but with a few new features and a pirate theme instead. You won't be missing out on much. This game is safe to just avoid. Let Sweet Baby Inc know what we think of them, maybe then indie and AAA devs will stop consulting them. For a company that ''fights fascism'', Sweet Baby Inc. sure loves to use fascist tactics to fight opposition. I will not change my stance until the devs stop consulting with them.Show moreShow less
RIP Mimimi Games. You will be dearly missed.Show moreShow less
Sweet Baby Inc. involved. And the game is much worse than SHADOW TACTICS and DESPERADOS III in art and gameplay. I won't recommand it in any case.Show moreShow less
Another death toll for the sweet babies, except this one hurts.Show moreShow less

After loving Mimimi's previous games Shadow Tactics and Desperados 3, Im sorry to say that Shadow Gambit is a disappointment. Maps are beautiful to look at, but their new open layout harms level design and simplifies the puzzle of enemy encounters, many of which I could simply charge straight in and melee everyone(yes on hard difficulty). That would very rarely work in previous games. I enjoyed some new gameplay features like Pinkus possession, Gaëlle's and Quentin's transport abilities. Though for example having 3 characters with samey teleport-attacks feels uninspired. I believe the new characters' lack of specialization compared to previous games adds to the simplified nature of the new level design. Since Im now mostly free to pick any characters for a mission, the mission cant be designed in any way that requires specialized skills to be used in any areas. Ive seen people write that this game is big, but I disagree. Main missions using each map 3-4 times isnt big, its tedious. Clearing an area I just cleared, to do yet another fetch quest does not make me feel in awe of a sprawling game world. I still played them all, hoping story and dialogue would make up for it... I'd say most of the characters' entire stories and character growths are so miniscule they can be summed up in 1 or 2 sentences per character. If you, like me, loved the more emotional moments of for example Mugen's "fate" and how characters used to slowly grow from distant strangers into close friends, you will have little to none of that here. Most of the dialogue is bland jokes and memery. Suleidy and Gaëlle show some potential of character depth, but its largely left untapped. I'd say Shadow Gambit has gone for quantity over quality in every way possible. And I for one dislike this development, even though I seem to be in a tiny minority. Often if I dont like a game, I dont get upset, I simply think that game wasnt for me. But this is a Mimimi game. And Shadow Tactics is one of my favorite games ever, so I feel like that doesnt apply in this case. This is my first review ever. Thats how disappointed I am. I hope Mimimi and players resonate with anything Ive written here, and with the very few other critical reviews Ive seen, and that Mimimi's next title will be better. Or maybe I should just go back to Shadow Tactics and give it the praise I should've given it long ago.Show moreShow less
