Trying to make me purchase skins i paid for already? Thousand+ Dollar Smite account basically useless. Need blue gems for old skins? 500 skins total i get slapped with a fee to buy rewashed skins. Idk man i loved Smite but adding a number 2 and trying to double charge me is beyond aggravating. I would gladly pay for new skins but not old skins i already owned.Show moreShow less
The amount of misinformation in these negative reviews is outright laughable. - No you don't have to buy skins again that you already bought, Smite 1 skins are 100% buyable with legacy gems. - No it's not an Overwatch 2 situation. Some of the new tech in this game would make Smite 1 cry and implode if it was even suggested to be added, with a lot more to come. - No it doesn't look the same or worse than Smite 1. In the early alpha maybe, but that was a while ago by now and yet there are still recent reviews complaining about the graphics. Your eyes were free at birth, use them. - No the devs aren't prioritizing skins over improving the game. They're barely even releasing any new skins at the moment and they patch the game frequently with a bunch of new content, features and fixes. How did this argument even start? And i can go on forever with this. You can think what you want about the game, but stop lying.Show moreShow less

SMITE 2 takes everything great about the original and gives it a next-gen makeover. With improved graphics, refined combat mechanics, and a deeper meta, this sequel aims to elevate third-person MOBA gameplay to new heights. But does it truly feel like a worthy successor? The Good: ✅ Next-Gen Visuals & Animations: Gods look more detailed, and abilities feel more impactful. ✅ Enhanced Combat Mechanics: Movement, aiming, and ability responsiveness feel smoother than ever. ✅ New & Reworked Gods: Fresh takes on classic characters, plus entirely new ones. ✅ Skill-Based Gameplay: Just like the first game, positioning, aim, and strategy matter. The Bad: ❌ Learning Curve: The new mechanics might take time for veterans to adjust. ❌ Balance Challenges: With new systems come potential balance issues at launch. ❌ Progression Reset: Players from SMITE 1 will have to start fresh. ❌ Free-to-Play Model Uncertain: Monetization could impact accessibility and fairness. Final SMITE 2 feels like a true evolution of the franchise, keeping its unique third-person MOBA charm while refining the experience. If Hi-Rez nails the balance, content updates, and monetization, this could be the best god-battling MOBA yet. ⭐⭐⭐ 8.5/10 – A divine sequel with the potential to dominate.⭐⭐⭐Show moreShow less
Upd 4: May 2025, killgoon offered to look into it w/ no contact info. Ignored all tweets and reddit dm's afterwards. 8 months later, I had to email him to be unbanned. No apology or concern was shown for the issues done. messages weren't great Upd 3: VP Of Engineering banned my in-game account for false claims of "threats" & exposing censorship UPD: The developers are actively censoring any negative remarks or the company in itself as "Toxicity & Misinformation" by banning people who make any neg remarks or removal of posts/comments in the steam discussion group. The same is being done on /r/smite subreddit Going as far as referencing peoples negative reviews as justifiable reasons. The blanket statement used is "You're just being toxic and spreading misinformation in this community" They are banning people from the community discussion group that may shed bad light upon the game or company whether it be post or comment. This is improper usage of the discussion board & power of developers. Steam support has said it best when an attempt was to overrule the abuse of censorship: "We encourage developers to be thoughtful when moderating their communities, especially when considering bans. The impact of poor moderation can lead to anger, decreased confidence in the product & ultimately can be detrimental to the success of the game." Do you really want to support a game that censors criticism or hides negative publicity? UPDATE 2: After an effort to have a conversation with the developer about the 1 month ban instead of utilizing alerts and warnings for proper moderation. "You're just being toxic and spreading misinformation in this community" is indeed a blanket statement used. They consider threats as offers when having a civil conversation which is unprofessional to say the least. [09:20] Xienen: to address your previous concern about "toxic", there may not have actually been anything toxic in your posts, but that's a "standard message" that we use to cover both, because they almost always go hand-in-hand and as far as "ban versus discussion" surrounding misinformation ... I am the "VP of Engineering" ... I have a 40-60 hour a week job outside of helping players resolve their issues and helping moderate the Steam Discussions ... as much as I'd love to have a discussion like this with every single player spreading misinformation, there are hundreds of you and only one of me [09:22] Ace: Is that not what moderators are for? That's a business problem. Wouldnt that have been best said to show correction to an inaccurate sentiment rather than silence people for an entire month? You also made mention permanant bans were handed out when they shouldn't have been. Bans in steam discussions should be the last resort and steam agree's with that. That's why alerts & warnings are used. Being quick to ban users have a different outlook on matters just makes things look worse on the community. You say they're 2 different games. Some see it no more than just a remake/remaster on an upgraded game. Same game but newer engine. If smite 2 fails and smite 1 goes down with it, that ultimately falls upon the company for their poor business decisions. Also by banning, you're erasing the entire post history and I had only 1 post. To say accounts are wiped is essentially is saying you're starting fresh. Truly nothing from smite 1 carries over. So your account in smite 2 is a wiped clean slate. New Game or Not. [09:23] Xienen: you are being unreasonable and I have a job to do if you'd like me to upgrade your SMITE 2 ban to permanent, I'm perfectly happy to do so, but I will not be lifting it early you show no ability to understand the situation and have empathy for anything other than your own agenda I'm sorry that you can't see that nothing was taken from you I hope you continue to play SMITE 1 as long as the game is alive [09:25] Ace: We're having a civil discussion, theirs no reason to make threats. Alright. Have a good day. [09:25] Xienen: threat? what threat? [09:25] Ace: "if you'd like me to upgrade your SMITE 2 ban to permanent, I'm perfectly happy to do so, but I will not be lifting it early" [09:25] Xienen: that's not a threat, it's an offer it's up to you, I gave you the option to choose [09:25] Ace: an uncalled for remark nonetheless. In any case, have a nice day. Xienen: you too mate, I'm sorry this didn't go the way you thought it might, but if you can't see any opinion other than your own, it was doomed from the start __ Lacking empathy for a company who has made poor decisions is also an issue as well ___ For new players entering this game, you're not going to learn anything from the tutorials in-game. This has been an issue in Smite for the 13 years of it's existence and still an issue in what Hi-Rez call a "sequel" Their is no E-sport scene to be had any longer nor any reputable pro players that once existed. Engagement with the community no longer exists as it once did between the playerbase. Their are no reputable content creators since Hi-Rez has screwed them over with zero responsibility taken or real apologies. Everything is now monetized right down to including your masterie's of gods into a battlepass system which you're forced to pay for if you wan't to show any accomplishments. To the point it has become predatory to help reallocate funds for the company. Though Legacy Gems are given to the old playerbase, they are meaningless as everything you may have once owned is at a much escalated price then what you originally paid for. As such, this is a way for old players to burn through their gems and force them into paying for the new currency 'Diamonds'. The price of everything has also gone up where the value of any cosmetic is overpriced. With that being said, Hi-Rez has screwed over it's original community that has kept them afloat for the past 13 years by taking funds from Smite and reallocating them into failed projects over the years and not focusing 100% on their main title Giving them nothing except "Legacy Gems" which really hold no value since everything in the store is double the price. So the original community who spent years and money on anything are now completely lost of everything with no cross-progression of awards or their cosmetics. All they've given to the original community are avatar icons. That's it. So unless you buy the Founders Pack; Legacy Gems don't truly benefit you. They have laid off 70+staff members, not including those who left the company themselves to other studios. Cancelled all their IP's for Smite 2 like typical Hi-Rez Fashion (Remember Tribes? It was killed for Smite). Taken employee's off of Smite to put them on other projects which were shut down completely or just failed. Hi-Rez is known as a revolving door with poor upper management and an incompetent CEO who laidoff employee's often. No classic skins owned, Limited or Tier 5 skins you bought and grinded for, or in the very least the gods you had already unlocked. Smite 2 is NOT a sequel as their is absolutely nothing new. It's still Smite Rather just a way to try to compete with newer games like DeadLock and Marvel Rivalz and we're going to pretend its a "new" game to attract new players. The graphics or art style are nothing to shout about compared to the original smite & only a slight upgrade. The sole benefit of UE5 allows newer mechanics of gameplay. Otherwise for years, Hi-Rez has stated they would never update Smite from the UE3 engine cause it would "Cost too much money, manpower, & time to redo the entire game" Hi-Rez is putting all their eggs in one basket after a history of failed projects & at the cost of abandoning their original community. Smite was Hi-Rez's main money printer & as years gone by, they had not invested 100% attention to the game. This is now their attempt for a last hoorah at the cost of everything. Loyalty means nothing to the company. Just Greed & bleeding their player base dry.Show moreShow less
Smite 2 in its current state is a decent game going into the open beta. Hi Rez made a mistake of releasing access too early to the genral public, even though it was a closed alpha it was not communicated well what that actually meant for players. At that point it was not in a playable state but they have made many strides since then. This update has been a long time coming but it has unfortunately caused many issues with moving to a new engine after developing smite 1 for so long. They should have started working on this earlier instead of chasing trends and trying to break into mobile games from 2016 to 2021. If this was made in 2020 with the access to cross gen skins at the time there would have likely been significantly less backlash. The real last thing that needs to be sorted out is their monitization system which can make or break this. They made the mistake of realeasing Joki Loki as one of their first "classic" skins in smite 2. They are giving legacy gems back in lieu of migrating skins which would be impractical for them. The only problem is that they are slightly more expensive than the old skins would have been so it isnt a 1:1 conversion. I hope they update this once the economy and skins are restarted on open beta launch. One of the standout things Hi Rez has done with Smite is having pretty transparent microtransaction systems and I hope that carries through to Smite 2. I have spent a lot of time on smite 1 and have played a lot of 2 already and hope it succeeds. Many people dont seem to understand that this game needed to happen. Smite 1 was too old and was unsustainable for development, and also developers cant be expected to waste their careers on developing on an almost 20 year old platform. If smite 1 development would continue I wouldnt be suprised if most of the developers quit as it would be career ending to not keep up with the current engines and software. It isnt a battle between smite 1 vs smite 2. It is a battle between smite 2 vs bankruptcy and lack of legacy talent. Many people seem to believe they can make smite 2 fail because they dont want smite 1 to be abandoned but unfortunately that isnt an option at this point. It is success for smite 2 or no smite at all. Which at the end of the day would be fine but I would also like to continue playing this game for the foreseeable future.Show moreShow less
I actually think the game is pretty alright. If you are new to Smite then check it out. However, all the legacy stuff that was supposed to reward you for your long time and money spent during Smite 1, essentially amounts to just a stack of 50% off coupons. You have to spend more money to reap the rewards. They won't even let you ascend a god with just them. I just can't give that kind of thing a thumbs up. This game isn't different enough from the first to justify re-buying everything. Especially if that's the effort on show from them. Leaves me with very little confidence.Show moreShow less

i'd like to start off saying i fully support the idea that it was time for an updated engine for smite, and i can overlook alot of the weird situations that come from this. but expecting me to buy all of the gods again is insane.Show moreShow less
