They should have called this Sniper Elite 5 part 2 because it feels more like an expansion for SE5 rather than a new game -- but the main thing is that it's fun, especially for people who can't keep up with faster paced games like CoD. I do think it's time for a fresh take on Sniper Elite, maybe set in Vietnam or outside of WW2.Show moreShow less
Rebellion games takes a nose dive.... Looking at the same assets, was fine, but it got much worse. Only two survival maps. Starting and ending missions are short, Leaving only 7 real missions. Not enough character skins (Why no Karl?), An annoying voice you cannot be unheard (Why no Karl?) It's really a large (Way over priced) DLC Wait until a sale in a few years time.... Nothing to see here.Show moreShow less
DENUVO IS OPTIONAL! That's right, if you don't want to play multi-player then you can skip installing Denuvo. BTW, haven't found a single bug yet. Which is a miracle for AAA games these days.Show moreShow less
READ BEFORE BUYING! Did you enjoy Sniper Elite 5? Are you looking for a game that is just like Sniper Elite 5, but with terrible maps, nonsensical placement of enemies, recycled graphics, poor game mechanics, unlimited ammo, and starting locations where you can easily snipe 80% of the enemies in the level with zero effort and earn long-shot medals from? Then have I got the game for you! Sniper Elite Resistance is the perfect blend of Sniper Elite 5, amateur storytelling, and sloppy world building. With Sniper Elite Resistance you get a game where the enemy offers no resistance regardless of the difficulty setting. No more strategizing how to conserve your special ammo; there is ammo everywhere, it's virtually unlimited. No more strategizing how to work your way past enemy positions, everyone can be dispatched with ease with the all new "Fish-in-a-Barrel"® troop placement and "Zero-IQ"® AI. No more hunting for Satchel Charges; there are about 10-15 per level; even if you need just one. No more wishing you had an explosive or rocket, the maps are literally littered with them. The best part. . . the pièce de résistance (if you'll forgive my pun). . . is the magic of the standard starting location of every level. This cannot be overemphasized; no longer will you have to look for good sniper positions, no longer will you have to move with stealth to get there, no longer will you have to concern yourself with the sound of your rifle going off. The all new "Fool-Proof"® starting locations have you covered; with adequate cover, ample sound masking, and a line-of-sight on almost every enemy on the map. Once you take them out with zero effort, you can stroll through the ghost town of your own making and complete the mission only occasionally bumping into an enemy; but don't worry, the AI will have them gawk at you for at least 10 seconds, plenty of time to decide which weapon you want to select, reload it, and take up a more cinematic stance before you dispatch them with zero effort. SNIPER ELITE RESISTANCE: zero effort, zero resistance, and a virtually empty "Underground Bunker" as part of every level's plot. You can get this amateur-hour Sniper Elite 5 DLC packaged like its a new game for the price of a new game. What a deal!Show moreShow less
If you played Sniper Elite 5, you played this game. This is going to be a hard sell. It's just more Sniper Elite 5. Same UI, same graphics, same mechanics, which is good, 5 was a very fun game. However, the price for what is for all intents and purposes an expansion is a pretty big ask. Bottom line, this game is probably going to get annihilated in the user reviews. Is it worth full price? Probably not. $40 would have been more appropriate. Is it fun? Absolutely.Show moreShow less
I truly, truly love the Sniper Elite series. I have something close to 400 hours logged on SE5. It is one of my favorite games ever made. I knew this was basically going to be DLC for it, with the same engine, and I was fine with that, even for the kind of ludicrously high price. But this...this is not it. SE Resistance is a rushed, perfunctory mess. The maps are, with a few exceptions, small, stale and repetitive. Reusing the engine is one thing - cutting and pasting obvious areas I've already played in SE5 is entirely too lazy for a $50-80 pre-release. Movement is incredibly buggy - I've repeatedly gotten stuck on staircases, yeeted into a lake on a zipline, unable to interact with large portions of clearly climbable/vaultable walls, gotten stuck on ladders where sniped enemies magically soldered themselves to them, etc. Despite using the exact same engine, unlike SE5 which runs great on my 4070ti/i9 computer, this stutters and aliases like mad, especially during Xray kills. The kill challenge on mission 7 is currently fatally bugged, therefore making it impossible for me to unlock one of the guns I was most excited about. It's really, really tiresome to pay a premium for the privilege of beta testing. The loadout balancing is equally a mess. M1 Garand, for example, in the little snippet description is "extremely high damage" in exchange for high recoil. Yet in the stats has the lowest putative damage stats on any rifle. But it still kicks like a mule. It is worse in every regard than the MAS44. Conversely, the putative "all rounder" starter rifle, off rip, hits some 50% harder. Unless you paid to have the 1911 back, there's no real intermediate range stealth pistol options. It's Welrod or bust. The cardinal sin for me though is, less maybe the return of the Mosin, which you can't even get until you've already beaten the campaign because of the gimmicky propaganda mission filler, there's no true sniper rifle in terms of range and muzzle velocity. In a game whose primary appeal is sniping and ballistics mechanics. This is stupid. The obvious play that's coming of them reselling us all the German weapons that you know they already have models for, because they existed in SE5, and you can still pick them up from dead soldiers, is equally gross, lazy cash grab BS. And last but not least, while SE as a whole has never really been the most story-centric series, this one is SO bare bones, and so slapdash as to be laughable. You essentially get to know zero new characters. The plot is threadbare. The voice acting for Harry is cringe inducingly awful. There's no real antagonist development. You feel connected to nothing. I was counting the days till this was released when it was announced. I have never felt so let down. I hope they can at least fix some of the balancing and glitches enough to make this playable. But as it stands, save your money and stick with SE4 or 5.Show moreShow less
This is more like an expansion pack than a new game. It seems to be on the Sniper 5 engine which honestly is completely fine. The graphics don't need to get much better they are already amazing and keep good performance. So basically you have to ask yourself if you are okay with a same looking game, but with a different story and more maps. It's very good and if you liked Sniper Elite 5 you will naturally like this.Show moreShow less
If you haven't played SE5, go play SE5. Same price for more content and less bugs. If you have played SE5 and you are interested in Resistance, Wait for a while. The game is really buggy right now and is quite frankly in its current state, a cash grab. Reused assets to a ridiculous point. Same skills, same UI, same animations, same in game sound track. This is literally SE5 0.9. Needs work. Edit: I would like to mention that I do like the game to a degree. If SE5 didn't exist this would be fun. I will provide the list of bugs that I have encountered. List of bugs I have found: - Top step of stairs occasionally prevents character from moving forward when crouching. - On mission 4 character can be spotted through one of the buildings on the eastern portion of the map. - On mission 5, the intel in building near default spawn is blank and does not show anything additional on the map. - When whistling, occasionally enemy A at 8 meters will not hear you but enemy B at 15 will. Sometimes search the wrong locations. -Lightened and Blued and Precision Rifling attachments for the UD-42 have the exact same stats despite different descriptions. -Enemies will occasionally walk into fires when investigating. -Cover system is quite buggy. Works as intended about 50% of the time. -On mission 5 there is a rock texture that is glaringly clipping into the stairs near the quarry entrance. -Sound detection from gunshots is inaccurate. Fired a weapon with ~30m sound range. Enemy at ~40m heard the shot. -Mission 6 Kill list objective does not work. Target does not interact with kill item. Also, target does not react to running sound, or bottles. -Mission 7 Kill list is bugged. When moving towards the cup it indicates missing kill item. After obtaining the kill item the interaction area cannot be interacted with.Show moreShow less
After spending over 25 hours with Sniper Elite: Resistance, I have mixed feelings about the game. Pros: Engaging Sniping Mechanics: The game excels in delivering a satisfying experience for those who enjoy sniping and a slower-paced, stealth-oriented approach. Propaganda Challenges: The introduction of Propaganda missions adds a fresh layer to the series, with sniping challenges being particularly enjoyable. Cons: Survival Mode Needs Improvement: The Survival mode feels underdeveloped, with maps lacking adequate sniping positions, making it challenging to fend off enemies effectively. Feels Like a DLC: The overall experience resembles an extension of Sniper Elite 5 rather than a standalone title, lacking significant innovation. Recommendation: While Sniper Elite: Resistance offers enjoyable moments, it doesn't justify a full-price purchase. I recommend waiting for a sale to experience the game. Overall, the game provides a decent sniping experience but falls short in delivering fresh content and improvements over its predecessors.Show moreShow less
[Introduction] Sniper Elite: Resistance is the latest installment in the long-running Sniper Elite franchise. While many fans were excited about the game’s release, it quickly became apparent that this iteration offers little to no innovation over its predecessor, Sniper Elite 5. In this review, I’ll break down the various aspects of the game, from its campaign to multiplayer experience, and discuss whether it’s worth the price tag. [Campaign – More of the Same, but Worse] The campaign in Sniper Elite: Resistance feels like a reskin of Sniper Elite 5, with minimal changes in gameplay, mission design, or mechanics. While the core sniping mechanics remain solid, two of the available campaigns are outright disappointing, offering nothing but uninspired level designs and reused assets. For a full-priced title, the expectation was for fresh content, new mechanics, and engaging narratives. Instead, the game feels like a repackaged version of SE5, which should have been released as a DLC rather than a standalone title. [Denuvo – A Non-Issue with Bigger Problems] Despite the presence of Denuvo anti-cheat software, it appears to be ineffective in curbing cheaters. Multiplayer lobbies are already plagued with unfair play, making competitive modes frustrating for legitimate players. This raises serious concerns about the developer’s commitment to maintaining fair gameplay. [Axis Invasion – A Copy-Paste Experience] One of the defining features of Sniper Elite 5, Axis Invasion, makes a return here, but in an almost identical form. No new mechanics, no improved balancing, and no additional depth have been added. If you’ve played Axis Invasion in SE5, you’ve already experienced everything Resistance has to offer in this mode. [Multiplayer Maps – Severely Lacking Content] The multiplayer experience in Sniper Elite: Resistance is incredibly limited due to a severe lack of maps: • Team Deathmatch – Only three maps are available, drastically reducing variety and replayability. • No Cross – Limited to a single map, which quickly becomes stale for returning players. For a game that demands a premium price, this level of content restriction is unacceptable. Multiplayer should have been expanded with fresh maps, innovative modes, and improved balancing, but instead, it feels like an afterthought. [Early Access Gimmick – A Cash Grab] The early access model used for this game was nothing more than a clever marketing strategy at best and an outright scam at worst. Rather than investing in proper game testers, the developers essentially charged players to test the game for them. While early access can sometimes be a beneficial model, in this case, it only served to exploit paying customers. [Bugs – A Lack of Quality Control] As a software developer, I generally overlook minor bugs, understanding that no game is perfect at launch. However, Sniper Elite: Resistance suffers from numerous glaring issues that should have been caught in even the most basic testing phases. The sheer volume of bugs makes it evident that the game was rushed out without adequate QA, further diminishing its already limited appeal. [Final Verdict – Buy or Wait?] If you’re considering picking up Sniper Elite: Resistance, ask yourself this: Is it worth spending $60–$80 for what is essentially a rebranded version of SE5 with minimal additions? If you can find the game for under $30, it might be worth a try, especially if you’re a hardcore fan of the series. Otherwise, wait for a sale or skip it altogether. [Final Score: 2/10] – A disappointing, recycled experience that fails to justify its price. [Disclaimer on Playtime] 100+ hours ≠ quality. A note on playtime, since it often comes up: a significant portion of my hours comes from playing with friends, not from my personal recommendation of the game. Social play does not reflect my assessment of content quality, innovation, or value for money. When playing solo, I still return to Sniper Elite 4, which I consider the strongest entry in the franchise. I paid for it, so I played it. Doesn't mean it's good. Just means I wanted to get my money’s worth. Friends are playing, so I join in. Gaming is social, but that doesn’t fix the game’s flaws. Some of that was me trying to enjoy it, dealing with bugs, or just waiting for something new. Developers don’t ‘crumble’ from criticism; they crumble when they stop innovating. Reusing SE5’s mechanics without real improvements makes this feel like overpriced DLC, not a new game. If you’re okay with that, cool. But don’t dismiss valid critiques just because ‘I played it a lot.’ TLDR: If I had a choice, I would uninstall it.Show moreShow less
