Ok, so, time to update this thing. First things first: the game. I've played it to the 3rd stage and so far the game looked pretty solid. Good performance, responsive controls, beautiful art, good soundtrack with old tracks remixed, auto-save, selectabe characters, good level designs, even though I've seen some people complaining about this last one, but I liked it. Just like the good old clasic games. My props to the developers. Great job. Now, let's talk about the negative side. The publisher. SEGA delayed the PC version under the statement that they wanted to spend a little more time to polish the PC version. Yeah, right. It's clear *TO ME* (you're free to disagree) that they did it to implement their DRM scheme, which seems to me, that even some of the staff didn't want to, as you can see here and here. Also, the very existence of the "bug" which required you to be online every time you launched the game, leads me to belive even more that this was a rushed decision. Now, if SEGA had informed us about their intentions since the beginning, during the pre-order window, it wouldn't have been that much of a problem *to me*, to be honest. I probably wouldn't have purchased the game, or if I did, I'd have done an informed, conscious, decision. But what they did is just wrong; we had to find it by the hard way, by being bitten in the ass by their ridiculous, half-assed, DRM scheme. After some really good releases like Bayonetta and Vanquish, I really thought that SEGA was becoming something else in the middle of this cesspool of garbage companies which dominates the market right now, but what they did, in my opinion, was an abuse to my (and everyone else who pre-ordered it) goodwill and trust in them. They had the time to tell us, but they chose to hide it because they know the stigma around DRM. They didn't even had the balls to put an EULA and/or disclaimer on the store page about the DRM. After the backlash, they did put the disclaimer about Denuvo and fixed the online requirement "bug" on the next day. So no, I still don't recommend this game solely because of SEGA's mistreatment to their customers. They almost went full Square Enix on this one. The only thing that still distinguish them is that SEGA didn't abandon the game after the first day. And if you think that this isn't the place or that it isn't fair to not recommend a game because of a company, well, tough luck. Call 911.Show moreShow less

Oi. I preordered the game, expecting it to be DRM-free because the storefront page didn't mention it. I asked for a refund. Don't waste my time like that, SEGA. Not cool. :(Show moreShow less
Proof That fans can make better video games than Sonic Team canShow moreShow less
No offline play? (edit: this seems fixed now) Seriously? Denuvo? (edit: removed 2 years after launch) I wish i could give this game positive review (edit: and in 2023, I do), it deserves that. But as long as you treat your paying customers like that i won't. Regarding the game itself, it's the best sonic in a decade. It feels like Sonic 3 and heavily relies on reused content from Sonic 2 3 and Knuckles. Some of the remixes are good, other are worse than Genesis originals. I wish this game had more original content, but at the same time that content is mostly a bit worse than remixes.Show moreShow less
~~~ Sonic Mania (& Plus DLC) ~~~ (This will be long, but you won't lose your time) Sonic Mania is the definitive game of classic Sonic, made for fans, made by fans. I don't have enough words to describe this game, let's talk about it. Despite not being a game developed by Sonic Team, it couldn't be better. It's like an 90's Sonic game but with the necessary freshness to make it playable not only for those people who played Sonic in his childhood, but also for the new generation of kids, I mean, with this game, we are showing to new generation of people the entertainment that we used to have in front of the screen more than 20 years ago. Graphics and music inspire exactly the same as previous games but with an improved touch. Sprites and animations runs at 60 fps, which is a lot to say about a 2D game, and music was completely renovated and created to give the best experience without ruining the old essence. It should be noted that you do not need a very powerful computer to run it. The game teaches you quite well how to play it. It's simple how a good platform should be,+ but it does not stay there because if you want to master it requires a lot of practice, perfect if you want to achieve good times in your time trial mode. In addition, with the recent arrival of the DLC "Encore Mode", the game not only adds new characters and mechanics, but also a new challenge to face. I also want to add something else to this paragraph. The design of levels is one of the strongest points of this game, as it manages to balance its duration, difficulty and obviously speed, achieving that by selecting a different character, you feel a more varied experience, but keeping the pace. This is not a very long game, it will take you about 2 hours to finish it. The fact is that if you want to unlock all the secrets that it has hidden, it can extend the life of the game much longer because you won't be able to achieve it at the first try. Bonus stages, collecting Chaos Emeralds, beating your times are some examples. If you are one of those who like stories, man... this a plataformer, Mario recues the princess, Sonic destroys Eggman plans. Being a game with a lot of attention to detail, with very few bugs, it worth every cent you pay for it. I cannot explain how much i appreciate the work of the team who developed this game. I didn't detailed the excellent job of the artistic team, who brings us cutscenes and a beautiful animation. And how to forget the great job who Tee Lopes did with the music. Please, search more about the development of Sonic Mania, it's a fantastic adventure. Also watch Sonic Mania Adventures, a Youtube show to promotionate Sonic Mania Plus. ♛ Overall: 9.7/10 ~Philip Bridge PD: This review was edited, please don't do what i did ( pastebinDOTcom/raw/1wBHfbDuVir )Show moreShow less
Singleplayer game with Denuvo. Why? -preorder Sonic Mania -PC release is delayed for 'bug fixes' -get Sonic 1 on the original release date for free -play Sonic 1 until Mania comes out -Mania comes out with malware DRM -can't refund because I played Sonic 1 was part of the deal That's some anti-consumer ♥♥♥♥ that may not be intentional, but really dampens Sega's reputation in my eyes. Why can't Sega just let something be good? I'd give a positive review otherwise, so if you don't care about a game carrying DRM that's widely considered malware; go for it. Just be aware of Sega's terrible business practices.Show moreShow less
Awesome game with Denuvo in it. I've lost a PC to Denuvo before, I didn't want to risk it again, but SEGA had me installing and playing Sonic Mania without knowing Denuvo was in it. That's not a cool move, dude. I can't, in clear conscience, give this a recommendation after such low blow. (Edit: I did not literally lost all hardware on my newly-built PC, but I did lost a motherboard to it.)Show moreShow less
