This is not about this game, The game is a masterpiece, This is about Ea, When they came to steam the first thing they did was triple the price of this 13 year old game, while i bought this game before, in good consciousness i could never recommend buying this game, don't bent over to them, Sail the seaShow moreShow less

Galactic Adventures adds missions for your space captain during the final stage of Spore. Previously during this stage you were mostly restricted to being a spaceship - which is kinda weird when you've spent so much time careful crafting the creatures that you're playing with and this was meant to address that. On the plus side, it is nice to be able to play your creatures again and it does even potentially give you the ability to earn the super powers from the other factions (for example you could be militarily based, but earn a shaman super power) rather than just being restricted to one and some of the missions are kinda fun, although there is often a quite heavy focus on combat which is still not great and you don't have any equips for initially. The down side though... It was a bit of a half arsed attempted by Maxis to cash in on user content and the amount of missions actually included with it by default seems to be rather small. Places will send you off to do a mission and when you arrive there you'll find it's a mission you have already played. Now at this point you can only progress by completing it again, but because you've already done it once you won't receive any experience for it. This won't stop other planets sending you on this mission again and again though. Player created content is frequently dross and the filtering system is largely unintuitive making it very hard to make sure you actually get any decent adventures. Each adventure also eats a planet. Did that planet have an expensive spice on it? Too bad. Is it contantly sending out signals to tell you there is a rare hidden there? Too bad. Once it's an adventure mission, even if it's a duplicate, it will sit there cutting off access to that planet forever. Since planets tend to generate them in nearby systems this can result in areas, especially around your starting systems becoming cluttered with unusable mission planets. Galactic Adventures is a great idea that was badly implemented and promptly dropped by the studio rather than being fixed. Whilst it definitely adds some much needed creature time to the space stage I don't feel it adds enough longevity to actually be worth it. If you already have Spore, pick it up during a sale if it goes decently low.Show moreShow less

Little secret they do not want you to know: You will not get the full experience because you can't log into your EA account through the Steam version of the game anymore. They do not make it clear anywhere on the store page that there is a problem they refuse to fix and you're basically being scammed out of your money by paying for an incomplete product being sold as complete. If this is your first time playing Spore or buying any of its DLCs, I'll let you know that Galactic Adventures is heavily reliant on content made by fellow users, and with no access to the Sporepedia, you are limited to the Maxis' missions that come by default with the expansion and making your own. The game itself is great — with only 2 evolution stages being not so good compared to others — and is unique in the sense that you aren't going to find any other complete game with a similar concept that fully touches the scope Spore did, even after its peak times. If you are young you are most likely going to enjoy it just like I did back when I was a kid, and still do now that I'm an adult, although I rarely play it nowadays. Creating is fun, leveling up your Captain can be too but only, again, if you have access to the online content because the fun in it is exploring what others have made with the adventure creator. If possible, give some support to Elysian Eclipse, which is a game being developed by fellow Spore fans as a Spiritual Successor to it. If you really want to buy this on Steam, go ahead, but you're paying for what is essentially a pirated version of the game. No online content, no usermade creations, no way of sharing your creations with the community — the Sporepedia website itself is hardly working now, to be frank. There's no telling when EA will finish the deed and kill it. And they still had the audacity to increase the price.Show moreShow less
Never forget what EA did to Maxis, Stripped them of making masterpieces to only to shill out DLC after DLC for the Sims. Maxis Deserved Better, Spore Deserved Better, The original creators of this masterpiece deserved better!Show moreShow less
EA is so scummy. As of the last three years, this game no longer works online on steam. In order to access online, you need to register a cd key. Online unlocks the full game with other people's creations and adventures, and the ingame manual (sporepedia). EA doesn't allow steam to show your cd keys, the game is now coded to show %CDKey% in your registry if you look it up there. EA will require you to download the EA app (formerly origin) then ask you for proof of purchase from steam. I followed their instructions and sent the two screenshots (i had to take them twice for a total of four because I spoke to three different support people in the week I've been dealing with this) and they still would not accept it. According to the internet (i didn't get that far), if you somehow do get your screenshots accepted you will still have to redownload everything through the ea app. The game's drm was ridiculous when it launched. They then loosened their rules a bit. Then in 2020 once they got their money and the bad reviews went away they tripled down on the original ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Do not support ea, do not buy this game not even on sale. It simply isn't worth it. If you must buy this game, get the GOG version.Show moreShow less

For the Galatic Adventures part by itself, I find it really neat. It's nice that it goes back to creature gameplay with civilized creatures. However, when playing in space stage, it is frustrating to end up playing and finding the same mission when the captain has already played that mission. Please fix so repeats stop happening. Although I say this, but this expansion is already 9 years old. MAKE A REMASTER OR SEQUEL ALREADYShow moreShow less
