no wonder the game is so dead... new players are completely chastised by veterans. Guys your game will die without new players, understand the the learning curve is difficult and help them Rather than call them out at the end of the game. The elitist attitude i've just witnessed left a sour taste in my mouth. New players don't even bother with this free weekend. just play hell let loose the game is way more forgiving.Show moreShow less
Hmmm So you stumbled upon Post Scriptum and want to know if it is any good. Well Let me explain the game to you in a few words, then summarize it and give you a valuable conclusion. To start off, this is a World War 2 Military First Person Shooter with strong emphasis on simulation and historical accuracy. Here in Post Scriptum. German Tiger-1 and PzKpfw V. Panthers face off against early Churchills and M4A2 Shermans, sometimes Sherman Fireflys. But not against IS-4's and M48 Patton or M26- Super-Pershings as in mediocre, arcady ww2 shooters. You can play as an Ally (France, Brits, Americans, depending on the scenario) or as German in historical battles like the battle of Market Garden with the equipment and vehicles that were available to the specific faction by that time. Teams(Platoons) are divided in Sections: Infantry, Logistics, Lader and Armored. You can play as an Infantry player and fulfill different roles from a front line medic able to fully heal fallen teammated to MG-Support capable of providing cover fire from a protected location. As a Logistics player, you can drive around the map and construct repair stations, ammunition boxed, fortifications as well as defensive structures and even stationary mortars. As a player of the Armored section, you will dedicate yourself and your squadmates to drive a single tank. Yes, one tank, 4 players. A gunner, A driver, A commander and one who operates the turret/Main Gun. No matter what section or role, in this game, communication is key. You are a soldier, you communicate with your squad to fulfill your tasks. A round of gameplay takes max. 1h, but mostly between 40-50 minutes. During that time, you either try to attack and capture a set amount of bases, or you try to defend them. As Infantry, you die from 2 shots pistol, 1 shot rifle, headshot kills you 100% regardless the weapon, everything else that hits you directly be it a tank shell, a grenade or a mortar round, kills you immediately. You die quick and you kill quick. Just as it would have been in real life. This is not a "you eat 9 rounds and the enemy eats 10 rounds so you win and survive" shooter. This is pretty much see first, shoot first. Now to the technical part of the game: You will play with up to 84 players in one lobby, Gun Sounds are freaking awesome! The Graphics are okay but you will struggle seeing anything beyond 600m an let's be honest, this is more than enough in most cases. This game will make you literally ♥♥♥♥ your pants when suddenly your location is being bombarded by Ju87 Stuka Attacks or mortar strikes, Realism is a really huge topic in this game. To Wrap it all up: You get an epic, yet pretty hardcore and historically accurate WW2 shooter with combined arms, teamplay, lots of communication. This game offers Great fights, good balancing and is action-packed to the fullest. This game is something for you if: - You like History and are interested in WW2 - You like epic realistic battles - You value teamplay - You own a headset/Microphone This game is nothing for you if: - You prefer to play on your own - You don't own a headset - You value your own fun over that of others. - You prefer Arcady shooters like CoD or Battlefield.Show moreShow less
A BEAUTIFUL GAME KILLED BY ITS OWN COMMUNITY :( Let's start by saying that i LOVE this game! It's probably the best WWII game I ever played, has a very steep learning curve, a good amount of realism and strategy. The vehicles are superb as well as the locations. I used to play this game on a regular basis and with decent results, I also managed to make a lot of new friends here! But... There's a catch, of course. The game is slowly dying, today it's NOTHING compared to the golden days. What is killing the game, in my opinion is its community. The game has already few servers (fewer by the days) and as soon as you log in you will notice that except a couple of english speakes servers (that are becoming more and more toxic) the rest is equally divided between German and French, so, unless you speak one of these 2 languages, good luck to you fininding a game! When the few english speaking servers are not full (a common event .:sob:.) the admin came up with ridiculus rules that are not even allowed by the game itself, like "don't play with tanks" "don't form more than X squads" etc... so that the few players remaining are not even able to enjoy a match. I'm sad and disappointed to find myself leaving a bad review, but this is the status of the game right now :( I really hope this game will shine again, especially for the developers, they did an EXCELLENT job, and it's extremely sad for me the fact that the community is litterally killing this game. I hope in the future I'll be able to play it again and I hope the good old players will be back and replace the disgrace of players left now. But for now, the game has lost yet another player: me.Show moreShow less
My 94 year old, German Grandfather watched me play. The sound of the M1 Clip release gave him a mild stroke..... 10/10 immersion, would recommend for my dog.Show moreShow less
This review has been updated as of 24.11.2019. Last update before that time period was 03.12.2018. The thumbs down review remain negative considering the content and the patches throughout the last year - much due to the devs prioritizing new content and visual features rather than addressing the old, annoying gameplay bugs that's been reported over and over again. Gameplay: Pro's: - Be a realistic role in a military unit, that beeing a medic, sniper, Anti-tank infantry, logistics, mine-dude, high-explosive dude, mg-man (mg = machine gunner) . - Multiple factions to choose from, plenty of vehicles and weapons (SS, British, Americans, Wehrmact, Polish Brigade) - Weapons are locked and limited to roles for immersion and realism, a medic cannot use and carry a Anti-tank weapon for example. - huge battles, 40vs40. - VOIP between commander, section leaders and section members to increase teamplay. - map screen with simple markers for commanders and section leaders to use to coordinate team and for obvious teamplay reasons. - Several game modes currently and several maps with various layers (consider layers to be "missions"). - Have have both day and night battles aswell, increasing realism and immersion. - Logistics have several structures and defences which can be built to aid the team. Items such as ammo crates, repair station for armor squad or bunkers can be built, or if you want to diversify you can also block/create bottle necks with area denial objects like razorwire, barricades or tank traps. Both con and pro gameplay: - The gameplay isn't nescesarry balanced in terms of values for the various objects, for example might one tank in one faction be stronger than other tanks in other factions. Some rifles shoot harder than others etc. This adds realism and immersion (WW2 wasnt balanced), but at the cost of balance. - Weapons are locked and limited to roles for immersion and realism, a medic cannot use and carry a Anti-tank weapon for example. This means players will pick roles on basis of their weapons often, and not because they actually want to play "that" role. (Ps. People tend to pick sniper but just dont play with the rest of their section at all, as an example). This needs to be adressed some way, but I will get back to it later. Con's gameplay: - Vehicles have unrealistic physics. Want to drive 60 km/h trough nasty mud ? no problem. The only thing that affects vehicle speed is if it's uphill/down hill terrain and their base speed/accceleration. Terrain have no impact. - you can flip (reset their position a bit left/right) vehicles over tank traps. Reported and no action done to fix this. Reported in 2018. Edit: Reported in 2019. No action still. - Placing static machinegun emplacement in buildings (on some open maps buildings are the best and only viable cover for infantry) is not possible in 9/10 windows because the window frames are too high. This have been reported and isn't prioritized by the devs to fix. Edit: It's also a realistic thing static machineguns can do - in ww2 these machineguns could change their elevation. In Post Scriptum they cannot. - There is ways to dupe things as logistic such that you can get infinite vehicles/constructions as attackers for example through FOBS(allthough time consuming process). This is a gamebreaking bug if exploited. - Various fortifications gets destroyed way too easely (razorwire gets destroyed by grenades fore ============================= Let's talk about teamplay. To me this is the most important part in the game, if there is no teamplay, the game is essentially like CoD or Battlefield, just random chicken players running around blasting each other. So, does the game have the tools and features in it's backbone to actually make sure the game have teamplay ? i will split this into teamplay and community management: Community management: Lets quickly recap what some other heavely teambased games do to make sure people can cooperate, and how those deals with potential evildoers and trollers : - Reporting badly behaving players (Dota 2, Rocket League) - Kicking from server through votes /admin kick ( Mount and blade, Arma3 etc.) - In a hierarchical game, one does not want people to get into roles that have great power or influence over other players experience of the game without having a way to counter them. In this case, I'm refering to section leaders ( Squad leaders) and the platoon commander (with his artillery). POST SCRIPTUM does not have any ways to manage badly behaving players, except with admin kick (and the servers are community hosted for the record). There is no way to deal with bad players if there is no admin online. Allright, but what about the teamplay? Where shall I begin? - Static map markers which last as long as someone wants is impossible, since every marker dissapears after 2-3 minutes. This makes using the map harder. - There's no way to mute other channels in VOIP, making playing section leader (listeining to commander channel + your soldiers in the section ) a listening excersice. - The platoon commander doesnt have any ways to give orders to his section(s) whatsoever, except talking to them. No assignment to map markers, no way to block a spawn point if you want to force players to go somewhere else or demote a badly behaving section leader. In general, no way to actually give orders and to make sure they're followed). - Some things in the game are not addressed at all which requires teamplay. The game currently utilizes "MSP's" as a spawn feature, and these spawn at the main base and need to be brought to the objective. However, in many games noone takes these things and drive them to the objective. The reason ? 1) people are not aware they're at the base 2) Nobody wants to do it as long as there is a spawn point available at objective. And then you can spawm in commander channel and ask someone to take it, but noone does, not even when called out by name. Eventually, you will experience teams loosing many objectives because people are not able to enforce orders on other, lower-ranked people. I've suggested to the devs many times to solve these issues, but they are not prioritized or ignored (basically the same thing). Basically what i'm trying to say : POST SCRIPTUM dev team does NOT prioritize features which enchance and makes teamplay easier despite claiming to be a game about teamplay and cooperation. It does not even come close to how other games (even the ones less mil-sim based) approach teamplay issues - dota 2 makes sure reporting is a feature to dodge ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, arma 3 have drawing and map markers, and Savage XR have commander votes and impeachment of badly behaving players in position of power. TLDR: The tools in the game to ensure teamplay is present is very poor, and does not live up to the expectation I had when I bought the game. The gameplay and immerion is great, but the teamwork essentialls are lacking greatly aside from the VOIP feature and a map menu with poor selection of options to coordinate a team with. There is also some animation and minor gameplay glitches (EAC authentication issues on connection to server), falling through the map and getting camera glitches as infantry issues. THe game feels very raw and unpolished. The current state can be said like this: If you like CoD or Battlefield, you might want to consider this game (but expect some walking/running). If you like teamplay like me, you will be dissapointed. The game tries to be different than CoD and BF, and does this well in terms of a lot of the features, but lacks the teamwork features to make all these minor gameplay features work together for the team. Edit as of 24.11.2019 : the engine upgrade to 4.21 have increased performance across the board, which was needed. However, the devs still dont adress serious gameplay issues in the core game, and that alone is reason for a negative review.Show moreShow less
Played a game on Utah Beach as a driver for an M4 Sherman. There were 4 of us in the tank, the commander was very communicative and informative. I opened my driver hatch and looked out as the landing craft carrying our Sherman approached the beachhead. The ramp was opening and I closed my hatch to shield myself from the oncoming MG fire from the Germans. We move forward and stop near some Belgian gates to provide cover for the infantry moving up the beachhead. We slowly proceed up to the village and provided fire support for the infantry. Soon, they took the village overlooking Utah Beach and advanced towards the town further inland. We drove forward and stumbled upon an enemy HQ and our gunner blew a bunch of Germans to kingdom come. But they kept on spawning and we ended up wiping out an entire company. It felt like that scene in Band of Brothers when Easy Company ambushed a company of German soldiers and someone shouted: ''Its a whole other company!'' We moved further inland with the infantry (note: we were the only tank the entire team had until the beachhead was secured). But after destroying more Germans, a sneaky kraut with a panzerfaust blew up our tank. It felt like a war story, a story of a Sherman driver and his crew who survived the beaches of Utah and went on to the support the infantry inland but their lives were met short when a mere single German soldier fired his panzerfaust, ending their story right there. So yes, I recommend this game. With enough imagination you can create your own stories by just being a regular grunt or an NCO. I also met some strangers along the way and we added each other as friends! It was a great experience for a free weekend!Show moreShow less
⚠️ Squad 44 — A Tactical WWII Shooter With Serious Issues and Accessibility Problems Squad 44 markets itself as an authentic, large‑scale WWII tactical shooter, but for many players it feels frustrating, poorly optimized, and difficult to enjoy regularly. Despite having some fans and generally positive overall ratings, a significant number of players highlight serious flaws that make the game disappointing for newcomers or casual players trying it on 2025. 🐢 1. Sparse Player Population and Empty Servers A frequent complaint is that the game’s player base is small and inconsistent, leading to many empty lobbies or servers with very few players — especially during weekdays or outside peak hours. This undermines the core multiplayer experience, as the large‑scale battles and coordinated warfare only feel alive when a full squad is present. Many reviewers and players describe the multiplayer as “a dead and empty battlefield” without regular, populated matches, making it hard for new players to enjoy the game as intended. 💾 2. Poor Optimization and Performance Issues Performance has been a major frustration for players — even on modern hardware some report stuttering, FPS drops, and long loading times. One reviewer described the experience as painfully slow to load and poorly optimized for a game released years ago, particularly highlighting that poor performance robs the game of its tactical intensity. External reviews also note that despite the game’s ambitions, optimization problems pull you out of immersion, with frame drops and laggie maps dampening what should be intense firefights. 🎮 3. Steep Learning Curve and Unfriendly UI For newcomers, Squad 44’s learning curve and UI can feel unwelcoming. With limited tutorials and a lack of clear onboarding, new players often struggle to understand basics like communication systems, roles, and squad mechanics — making early play sessions feel frustrating rather than rewarding. The tutorial shortcomings and clunky interface contribute to a steep barrier for casual or first‑time players, who are easily put off. 🤝 4. Teamwork Required But Hard to Sustain Although the game encourages tactical teamwork, many players report that without a committed group of friends or community squad it’s hard to have satisfying matches. Lone players or smaller groups often find themselves waiting for coordinated action that never materializes, making matches feel like waiting around more than playing. This clears out even more servers, creating a self‑reinforcing cycle where a lack of active players leads to fewer populated battles overall. 📉 5. Mixed User Reception and Core Criticisms While Squad 44 has gathered mostly positive reviews overall, around 12 % of users rate it negatively, and that share highlights exactly these kinds of frustrations — empty player counts, performance problems, and barriers to entry that make it feel less welcoming than similar tactical shooters. Some reviewers also compare it unfavorably to its spiritual predecessors and competitors, pointing out that its mechanics and pacing don’t fully deliver the experience it promises without a thriving community behind it. 🏁 Final Verdict — Worth It Only for Hardcore Fans Squad 44 has ambition and tactical depth, but execution flaws dilute the potential fun: ✔ Realistic WWII setting and tactical intent ✔ Large maps and combined arms potential ✘ Inactive playerbase with many empty servers ✘ Poor optimization, lag, and performance issues ✘ Steep learning curve without strong onboarding ✘ Hard to enjoy without a dedicated group of players Overall: ⭐ 5.5 / 10 — A tactical shooter with promise that struggles to stay engaging or reliable due to optimization problems and a dwindling multiplayer community.Show moreShow less

I start playing this game since test server, and it was fun during that time because everyone liked the teamwork features, sound and combat, looking forward to the full game. That was about more than 4000 players in game and plenty of servers at that time. Now I have more than 500 hours on the full game, and normally less than 700 players in game and few server alive. The teamwork is basically gone. 1. No one wants the squad leader (full of frustation) or they just don't know how to do it. 2. No one wants to do the commander role. Commander channel is usually quiet. No strategy or plans in the later game. 3. Squad members just join to pick the sniper role or special role, if they don't get it they leave. No one wants to do medic. 4. Squad members keep asking for orders while never listen to SL, and blame on SL. Never cover each other when pushing. 5. People become toxic if they don't like your voice or don't like your desicions, while they can leave anytime. 6. Telling me "I am not a SL", while they don't want to do it at all. Never call the contact, even you ask them to do so. 7. One squad is doing the right and the other squads are just wondering around. 8. These are base on my own experience. I can list more though. Generally, the key feature of this game is gone, and most people just do it like squad, waiting for someone to pick the squad leader and mind their own business. They are not trying to learn or specialize some skills, just want to shoot people and don't know where are they. Bush hiding is strong, easiest way to kill opponents one by one when they are separated. Server lag is strong, you might shot their body many times first but they can still kill you. For the game itself, the developers are doing something to optimize it and I can see the improvement. It is just the positive communitte is gone. Some people I play with before never touch this game any more. I know there are new players in this game, but they don't give a **** to old players. I think the game itself is still decent, and I am still playing it. It is just the gaming experience may not worth your expectation. Maybe I am too serious about this game, since sometimes you get a good team, sometimes team s**ks. For people want this game, I will say give a try if it is on sales. Since people don't know why I give bad review because of the players. Let me make it clear. 1. This is a game based on people, playing with good team is extremely different from playing with bad team. 2. The community size is not large so far, quality of servers/players is easy to tell. You will lose the enthusiasm when you realize you are in a bad team. 3. Most important part of my qualification is game experience, and with a bad team, it is highly likely to be a bad experience. 4. When you have no idea what to do and where is the enemy in the game, you need your teammate to help you. Worst Case, the whole team just get shot by one person behind them and no one call it. 5. You will easily get frustration when you don't have a special role, Medic and Radio will be constantly called by the SL and teammates. If you don't like to obey the order, it will be tough. 6. Personally, I can still find fun in this game since it is simple for me find what to do and do it well based on my experience. I have seen a whole friendly squad run across the street in front of me and dropped one by one, because they were just careless(and it was just one person in the bush killing them). As the comments wanted more Info about the game itself. Here is another paragraph for it. I. Maps, currently five maps, rotation format is related to server. 1. Almost every item in the map is unbreakable, vehicles may get stuck in anything that is not obvious. Buildings are basically empty so far, also some buildings you can't enter. 2. Size of maps are large in general, created lots of direction for attacking and defending, but flanking will consume plenty of times. Certain map is definitely not armor friendly. Bushes are everywhere, make good use of them. 3. Features for different cap zones are very outstanding, make it obvious which direction is easier to attack, but you can still make different ways to push with ideal corporation. II. Team Roles, Commander 1 person, Infantry usually more than 3 squads (9 men max), Iogistic 1 squad (4 men max), Armor 1-2 squads (4 men max). 1. Commander, great role if you corporate well, ultimate abilities to destory targets. Need radio most of the time, but hard to get the control of the team. Be proud to see the score board. 2. Infantry, general but very important role, since you need them to cap the zone. Need lots of interal and exteral communication to do well, SL is becoming more important with new patches. 3. Logi, very unique but important role, decide the backup spawn point for the team, motors are very powerful if you know how to land it. Need a lot of work to do it well. 4. Armor, importance depends on SKILLs, good crews form a beast, bad crews form a meat. III, Factions, 82nd Airborne, 1st Airborne(Polish Bridge), 9-SS(Wehrmacht) 1, 82nd Airbone, the majority of semi-auto rifle is cool to play with, big advantage in short range. Even you don't have a special role, you can still enjoy the rifle. 2, 1st Airbone(Polish Bridge), big capacity of rifle make it powerful when you have number advantage, hard to calculate the range. MG is sh*ty, but still useful when clear buildings. 3, 9-SS(Wehrmacht), rifle is good at long range, but hard to target, need some time to get use to it. MG is overwhelming, good spot makes lots of kills. IIII, Graphic, definitely not a plus for the game, still need a lot of updates on it, shadows are bad for spoting enemies, hard to find the infantries when further than 300 meters. Sometimes, FPS is not stable cause by the lag or land features. IIIII, Sound, definitely a plus for the game, make you feel you are in the middle of the battle. Every details of the sound can help you find the enemies and enjoy the game. It is just very well implemented, but make sure change some features for your radio. You might barely hear anything when everything is going on. IIIIII, Balance, Still need improvement, British force is under the level in general, maybe fun if factions can be combined with two different forces. Hope the developer keep working on it, because it still has a lot of potentials. Again, this review is written for the people who think about getting this game, I would like to tell them what they might experience before they start playing and let new players know how important is the teamwork in this game. I want to keep it as objective as possible. Previous review end here posted by May/2019 Jan/15/2020 I almost forgot I have this review. Here is some new thoughts after the new patch. Well, it is getting better now, more players and new factions. But, it is still not friendly to new players. I bet not to many people even spend 10 minutes at the training camp to understand how the rifle works. Squad leader and commander are still frustrating roles at some time. Player won't commit to your command, won't follow your order, won't report contact and won't talk at all. IT IS STILL THE CASE AFTER SO LONG. There are improvements after so many patches, and I am happy to see more players in this game. It is just a long way to master a single role in this game. And no communication is definitely not a way to learn it. Again, this review is for people who might buy this game. I wish everyone could have fun in this game, not just keep dying all the time. The best way to learn it, is following the squad leader. At this point, I am not sure it is a thumbs up or down, but I should give credits to the developers.Show moreShow less
