Game is fine, but I got a 24 hour block by Denuvo for trying out different Proton versions. Paying for the privilege of Denuvo cucking you out of your authentic copy of the game makes me not want to recommend it.Show moreShow less

The Dark Souls series and (especially) Sekiro and the consequences of their existence and success have been a disaster for video games, action games in particular. Stellar Blade touts itself as a fast paced action adventure game with RPG mechanics and a deep story. All of that is BS. Let’s start with the combat. It is not fast paced; you sit and wait passively for the enemy to attack so you can parry. You cannot combo, juggle or play aggressively at all. There is zero reason to use your heavy attacks because they are too slow, don’t stun the enemy and the recovery time is so damn long you get hit by their next attack. Skills and actions you expect to be part of Eve’s base move set are locked behind the “RPG” elements. Being able to dodge unblockable attacks? Got to level up! Want to be able to recover faster from getting knocked down? Got to level up! Now, what about outside of combat, how is that? Mind numbing. Exploration consists of you walking around looking to find pass codes to activate brain dead mini games to open chests, energy cores to open doors or solve some basic environmental puzzle to open a door to the next area or start the next bit of combat. Is it engaging? No. Is it fun? No. It’s fluff, filler. It’s just there to waste your time. The story! I didn’t get very far in the story because the gameplay isn’t good, but I’ll give my opinion on what little I saw. It’s just a low budget knockoff of Nier Automata, but even that gives the game more credit than it deserves. The cutscenes were boring, the dialogue horrendous and the characters forgettable. Now, I do have some good things to say about the game; the graphics are nice and Eve is visually very nice to look at, the monsters had interesting designs and the soundtrack was pretty good, too. But everything else is just poorly executed mechanics from other games (Dark Souls and Sekiro specifically). If only the game played as good as Eve looks. What a shame, I really wanted to like the game. Get Nioh 2, Ninja Gaiden Master Collection, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, DMC HD Collection, DMC4SE, DMC5, Bayonetta, Nier Automata or Lollipop Chainsaw. All of those are much better games and deliver actual fast paced combat.Show moreShow less
Stellar Blade (PC) – The Combat is Tight, but Not as Tight as Eve’s Outfit ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Goon/5) Let’s cut the crap. This game hits PC and suddenly every modder on Earth woke up like: “Time to work.” I installed the game. Clicked “Play.” Got to the main menu. Closed the game. Went to Nexus Mods. Reopened the game 3 hours later looking like I was booting up Stellar Baddies: Complete Edition. Gameplay? Yeah, it’s real. Combat is legit. Parrying feels good. Dodging is slick. Bosses will curb-stomp you if you don’t focus — which is hard, because half the time I’m distracted by jiggle physics doing parkour across my screen. Story? Something something humanity… something something corruption… insert anime monologue about emotions and identity. I was kind of paying attention, but also I was playing in Ultra graphics with ray-traced cheeks. Forgive me. Mods? Absolutely out of control. There’s more plastic in my mod folder than in a Barbie factory. If you thought Skyrim was unhinged, wait until you see Eve in a bunny suit fighting cosmic horrors with a Hello Kitty energy sword. Pros: - Combat is actually fun - Stunning visuals - Eve - Camera angles knew what they were doing - Modding community went feral within 48 hours Cons: - Some areas felt like mobs were places just to slow you down - The platforming has some jank to it but is still good Final Verdict: If you’re here to "experience the deep narrative of a fallen Earth in a dystopian future"... You're lying. But it’s okay. We’re all lying together. Game slaps. Mods slap harder.Show moreShow less
More than anything I want this game to succeed. I want people to buy it, and I want the industry to know that this type of game, on the surface level, has an extremely large market. I also however, refuse to lie about it. As much as I like the design of EVE, as good as the optimization is, as slick the animations are, as satisfying as it is to parry, the more you play it the more its gilded outer layer falls off. The open levels are pretty but boring, with few truly interesting things to do in them, and no interesting way to traverse it. The smaller levels that don't allow the use of the map, are again pretty, but remind of modern final fantasy or skyrim dungeons. Largely straight lines with a couple not-that-useful shortcuts. The combat sounds good, and looks flashy, but is awkward and clunky. The story is uninspired, uninteresting, and poorly acted. The music is great but the direction is strange; you will hear objectively good tracks used at strange times. EVE has many cool moves and animations, yet the meat and potatoes of combat and traversal dont feel anything like being a super powered android. Shes even a loser in cutscenes as well. If you were expecting kick ass character-action genre cutscenes ala Ryu Hyabusa, Dante, or Bayonetta, you wont find them here. The average set piece reminds more of Uncharted than anything in the genre. I already alluded to the voice acting, but everyone from the English dub other than EVE sounds unexperienced, undirected, or both. The pattern of Little map-> wave of fetch quests and awful dialogue-> Big map-> wave of fetch quests and awful dialogue, is not a good one. The pace is broken up so much by "Flagship Sony Game Nonsense" that the juice becomes not worth the squeeze. Those times of course being the boss fights, which are awkward and aesthetically uninspired, but still the highlight of the game. But again, the good combat moments are constantly interrupted by Fisher Price puzzles and Nathan Drake/Lara Croft moments, IYKYK. There are so many nitpicks that I could add as well but I've already said enough so I'll keep it short: there's no mini map so constantly opening and closing your map is annoying, skipping dialogue is annoying, some bosses are annoying to retry, the game drip feeds you its mechanics too slowly, etcetera. At the end of the day I love the idea for this game, but this review box isn't for design documents, or "how the game plays on paper", or polotics, or drama, it's for reviewing the actual game itself, and the game itself might be something I selfishly want people buy for the industries sake, but it isn't something I recommend people play.Show moreShow less

pathetic excuse for an 'action' game. they did this mix of super action fast paced game with souls stuff and it does not result well. enemy attacks are so poorly telegraphed they need indicators for everything. when you do anything right the game 'rewards' you with flashy animations and if you dont have beta skill up or dont break their stance enemies will tank forever, normal attacks have no feedback, dodge has a very bad animation and is basically useless unless you press it in the exact moment youre gonna get hit anyway feels like a game made for kids if you dont take in consideration the hot women on screen 24/7. i really dont see how someone can look at a bunch of extremely flashy, tacky animations and go like "wow this is so cool the combat is so cool". i, for one, dont like pressing one button and watching a 5 second long animation play on my screen. i also dont like all those indicators and didnt even bother checking if i can disable them, but im pretty sure if i disable them the game will look like garbage because the game aesthetic relies so much on the completely random spam of colorful pixels and without that it would look all dead and stiff! and the outfits? theyre all a steaming pile of sweatshop garbage. every outfit (that i have so far) is only to show eve's ass. i can only play the default outfit cause its the one with the most soul and personality to it, it fits the game aesthetic, the rest is just pantyshots and when you walk you keep seeing her panties and ass with the other outfits, idk about you but i want a videogame not a p0rn a game made by a crew that so far only released gacha waifu games (iirc), what could go wrong? xDShow moreShow less

Good: + Good Graphics, + Characters look good, not like walking trash bags like in other recent games. + Combat feels nice + Good Dub-Translation into my native language + Has a Demo Bad: - 70€ on Steam what a joke (If you must buy it from a key re-seller for half) - Denuvo - Too much boring puzzle stuff that just distracts from combat, not enough % of Gameplay is combat. - The "Story" is one of those "insane" ones that make no sense in my opinion. Naturally this is highly subjective, I can already see some people calling it a masterpiece, but I don't like it. Neutral = "Action RPG" mechanics and progression is bare bones, but thats okay, the actual progression is all about increasing your skill and learning enemy patterns. = FPS and overall Game performance is adequate. There is some pop in and occasional stutters during some scene Transitons but whenever it has to perform well (in combat) there is no frame drops. Better than most games nowadays. Conclusion: Cannot recommend for 70€ in good faith. Wait for 40-30€ range. If you highly value a "sane" story that takes itself somewhat seriously in a world that feels alive or don't like large amounts puzzle elements in an Action "RPG/Adventure" then don't buy it at all. If this was a 50€ and didn't have Denuvo then I would probably be willing to give it the thumbs up.Show moreShow less
