Thief Simulator starts out strong - it has pretty solid sneaking mechanics, and the idea is certainly not one you see around a lot - where the emphasis is on stealth and stealing stuff without it being detected, and getting away before the tenants notice. No combat, no assassinations - hurting people is actually a fail state - so its an interesting twist. As you unlock new tools and abilities you can try different entrances, which is all very fun. ... Problem is it kind of... starts out strong and doesn't go anywhere from there. Once you've completed the tutorial heists you've kind of seen it all. Find a way into the house, ideally while the tenants are out. Cram as much valuable crap per pound into your bag as you can. Maybe steal a few paintings or a flat screen TV, get out. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Once you've broken into one house you've kind of broken into them all. Don't get me wrong, the tenants have different routines and sometimes tenants stay at home all day, and the layouts are different, but... the gameplay loop is always the same. The items you're stealing are generally the same. And you're only selling the stuff you steal so you can.. what? Buy expensive new equipment that lets you open a door that arbitrarily needs a better lockpick? There's just not a lot of variety once you get past the initial tutorial, which is a shame. Its not a BAD game by any means - i'd rather give it a "middling" option if I could - but it IS thoroughly meh. Get it on sale, play it for an hour or two, then play something else and let your memories of it fade until you fancy playing it again. But hey, they're making a sequel, so maybe that'll be better.Show moreShow less

A thief simulator which simulates a world where a thief can not jump, where people never sleep, and spend most of their time peering out their window into their backyards. If you live in a world where people are glued to the ground and slide around and where people never sleep and have nothing else to do but scan their yards then this is a very good simulation. Since I live on earth however I judge it a poor simulation made by devs so incredibly lazy that they could not add jumping or climbing. You are a thief and you can not climb a fence! A picket fence which comes up to your waist presents an impassable barrier. Meanwhile cops operate normally and when you are spotted enjoy being forced by this lazy game to walk right out the front gate to meet your pursuer as you can not jump the fence like any sane criminal would do.Show moreShow less

Great concept for a game. AI is to repetive. People dont hide stuff, change locks or anything of the sort. Add more neighborhoods, add stores and businesses to rob (after its Thief Simulator not burgulary simulator) add tazers so you can take down people, make the game have time that passes much slower if with an option, make it so if you rob someone they change locks and hide all thier valuables, add more car space, allow us to upgrade the car, add more gadgets, more skills, bigger campaign, and the ability to buy WAYYYY more stuff online. Please give us the mechanic to be able to buy stuff off of BlackBay so we can say get keys to places, maps of the building, add apartment complexes, let us upgrade home base, add giant companys where you can like break in and steal the usual stuff (money valuables) but also let us hack into thier server farm or something where we can steal stuff and sell the data. If this game was released in early access it would be great but it wasnt. I just cannot reccomend the game in its current state. Add more mechanics, more stuff to do, more gadgets, and more campaign and it would be a wonderful game. I understand i am asking alot but work on it a bit at a time and if you want devs im always open to helping you with ideas for game mechanics if your interested in anything of what i said. Thanks and hope you guys can make it a great game. after all the concept is great and it is pretty fun especially with the security system and stuff. Another thing i thought of was that it would be cool to be able to have a system where you can develop software yourself to hack into stuff so we can use the laptop from further away and stuff like that. let us feel like pro thiefs you already have alot of the gadgets for it the game is simply too limiting and too repetive another thing is that people should have to call cops (a bit like how WatchDogs 2 handled it) and also say if you stole thier landline or maybe if the AI will put thier cell phone on the charger at night then you could steal it and they have to run to a neighbor (basically just have it if you stole thier phones then its like twice as long for the cops to be on thier way) Thing one is asking ALOT but another thing you could do is completely revamp the skill tree system and add a store where you go to upgrade your backpack, buy better stuff and stuff like that. Dont completely remove it but definetely revamp itShow moreShow less

It's fun. I like it. Sneak around, steal anything you can, and get out. I do however have a few major things that makes me return the game. -You can only steal 1 big item at a time. Even when there is clearly plenty of space in your car. -You have a very limited carry capacity, you can upgrade. And thats fine. But you can't place any small things in your car. I feel like i should be able to fill it to the brim with stolen goods. -All houses refresh after you leave. So you can re-steal the same thing over and over. Which is weird. -Time flies at an incredible speed, making people come back home before you even get a few things out of the house. -The Ai is weird, and stupid. They don't really do anything other than walking around. Pedestrians and house owners will however, instantly and with no animation, call the cops on you. Sometimes for simply driving down the street, or walking past them. But they will never try to stop you from stealing something straight out of their house. With some fine polishing. I would love to play more of this type of game. But right now. It's a 5 euro game at best.Show moreShow less
Thief Simulator follows the story of the protagonist who is called The Thief. He begins his journey standing in someone's backyard, getting a call on his cell phone from a guy named Vinny who informs him he has been sprung from prison by a local crime gang that wants him to start thieving for them. Vinny also act as a tutorial and does a good job at it. The game mechanics are good and the level of detail that has gone into all aspects of thievery - lockpicking, casing a house, breaking and entering, and stealth, just to name a few - is remarkable. When it comes to gameplay, Thief Simulator is remarkably detailed and nuanced. This isn't Grand Theft Auto, so players can't just bungle a burglary and shoot up a building to escape - there is a certain finesse to the action, even while The Thief is driving around his beat up car and putting old electronics in the trunk to sell to a pawn shop. THE GOOD - Vinny the tutorial guide your through the basic gameplay - Sandbox mode works fine - Great level of detail - Nice graphics THE BAD - Can get repetitive - Almost too easy 8/10 DISASTER | BAD | MEDIOCRE | OKAY | GOOD | GREAT | AMAZING | MASTERPIECE If you like this review, then please consider giving it a thumbs up. I really like the concept of this game, but I can't recommend it. Pros:-It feels fun to search through houses and unexpectedly find something valuable. -The system of routines and secret vulnerabilities in houses is pretty cool -The open-environment is really cool, and I like being able to just pick a house and rob it... However... Cons:-The open-world is restricted by many factors, story, level ups, lack of gear... I would like if these things would help out in robbing a place, but most of the unlocks just basically unlock new houses... The glass cutter is about the only one I got that really feels useful in almost all houses, and then it gets ruined by window alarms later on. Also, every single time I've gone to a new house out of curiousity, it turns out I needed some new gear or level up to rob it. -The AI is horrible, the cops constantly hit your car(even if it's parked far away from the house). Sometimes the cops will just pop into a room and instantly shoot you with the tazer through the wall. I had one case where a cop shot me from the third floor while I was on the first, because there was a small window where he could see me. It should be easier to outrun cops, to make up for poor AI they just had the cops instantly shoot you. The best way to avoid them is to hide in a closet, which can be boring if they take awhile to leave. -Earning money doesn't feel useful until later on when you unlock a new house. Even then, I don't want to spend money on a house or furniture when I will eventually have to buy the next expensive upgrade to advance the "story" -Also, when I say story, it really just feels like a game-long tutorial. Missions pop up and you either require new gear or level ups to do them, and they usually just involve stealing something from such and such house. -Lastly, the big one for me is... While robbing houses is fun, when you need a level up you end up just robbing houses you've already been to and grabbing all the items that you've already got before... Going to new houses is kinda fun, but you just end up doing this for 75% of the game. -The jobs usually just involve smashing something which ends up alerting everyone in the house. I really wanted to like this game, it was fun for a little while. But I can't recommend it. I think it would be much more fun if they revamped the level up system, had you unlock only things that were helpful and not have to level 3 times just for the next story mission.Show moreShow less
