This game installs Red Shell spyware on your pc without your knowledge. Just In case people aren't aware Red Shell is a spyware that tracks data of your PC and shares it with 3rd parties. This is an absolutely unacceptable proposition. There is no opt out option and at no point do these developers make players aware that they are tracking almost anything you do on your pc. EDIT: Apparently Red Shell has been removed from Trailmakers as of today. I'm leaving this review up because a breach of trust is a breach of trust. Removing spyware after you've been caught using it does not make you consumer friendly. It's an act of self preservation. EDIT 2: Yes Trailmakers has become an absolutely fantastic game and is incredibly fun to play with friends but the Red Shell thing happened. In our modern "nothing is ever forgotten" internet age these companies need to know that we will remember that they abused our trust. I am not lobbying for anyone to boycott the game but that they should go into it knowing the company they are supporting has done this kind of thing and there are no reasons to believe they won't do it again. If you are comfortable buying the game then do so. If not then do not. My reason for posting about Red Shell was to inform consumers about the issue. Nothing more.Show moreShow less
The game is fun, but for a paid game...why the hell is everything in the game locked behind a second paywall!?Show moreShow less

(I dont dig the social media and discord aspect of it at all, exclusive content locked to social media participation is bloody annoying. I really really am sick of social media and live service infesting EVERYTHING in gaming now, I just want to play solo!) I probably reacted a bit harshly in the initial review, I was really sick of social media getting into everything and sort of lashed out, and if steam supported it, I would change my review to neutral at this point to better reflect my feelings on this game. The solo campaign is actually pretty fun.Show moreShow less
You can make fighter jets, blow up that 9 year-old who stole your build, break the sound barrier, make a sports car, design a tank, captain a battle ship, make a nuke, crash you PC, anything you like. I migrated here from the Scrap Mechanic community. Absolutely love the game. I came here because I love building aircraft (Something which Scrap Mechanic doesn't adequately support without mods) And found the perfect way to bring out my creativity. While I mainly build planes, helicopters, and the like, tanks, cars, boats, ships, really anything you can imagine, can be built. Trailmakers is by no means without its bugs and glitches but is surprisingly well rounded and the physics still surprise me to this day. I have somewhere around 2,800 hours in this game and there is no end in site for possible game play. I haven't even played the campaign yet! This game is very much alive and there is a constant stream of workshop content and an active multiplayer community which I have found to be mostly pleasant. Updates are good and fairly frequent from what I can tell. The multiplayer combat is (While a little wacky at times) surprisingly good and heaps of fun. I could spend all day dog fighting, and bombing, and avoiding AA guns, or maybe just chilling with some friends and building casually. The build system is well thought out and easy to use and get used too (Way easier than some games I've played) and gives you all the tools you need. There are plenty of parts and blocks and plenty of logic blocks. It can really support anything you want to do if you just spend enough time at it. A build can be as simple or complex as you like. There's nothing like the satisfaction you feel when you finally make a sonic boom, or make a plane that can cobra, or you find a new engineering principle to solve your problem. Honestly one of the best games I've played. Flashbulb, if you're reading this, amazing job! Can't wait for airborne, it is everything I ever wanted in this game!Show moreShow less
The game as in of its own is great, Ofc there are sometimes bugs or missfortuns, but im positive that can be fixed in future patches, LightbulbGames is quiet fast at fixing bugs. No the main issue for me is that the dlcs they are making just seem to include that much more content. Dlcs are fine, they are a good way to finance a game. But i belive that locking entire Campaings, A lot of Water parts, Space and Ice expeditions behind a pretty hefty paywall shouldnt be happening. Id mayorly prefer it to be available for everyone, and just some extra few building parts arnt. I do own all dlcs. So i belive i can say that they are awsome. But awsome shouldnt have that high of a price.Show moreShow less

I wanna be clear that my "not recommended" isn't a sign that I hate this game. I'm like 49/51 on it but there's no such thing as "neutral". As a basic simulator it's pretty good. The building is quite intuitive and easy to use, massively better and more granular than something like Besiege's clunkiness. I enjoy the ability to instantly spawn in my vehicles where I stand, instead of walking back over to it or self-destructing. The vehicles are great and work perfectly, despite some flaws in terms of being a little too fragile, but not as bad as Besiege. Unfortunately I just think the game itself isn't very fun. You take a game about building any machine you can think of, and decide the best way to demonstrate this system is to have the player...push rocks around? This gameplay is honestly so dull, repetitive, and ill-fitting that it actually starts to show the cracks in the vehicle engine itself. You quickly learn EXACTLY how fragile your machines really are as parts snap off like twigs when you bump up against a collectible rock the wrong way. Not to mention flying vehicles are so obtuse that I wound up just downloading other people's things. They give you guns (eventually) but nothing to shoot. You can armor up but there's nothing to hurt you other than a fall or a deadly encounter with a physics object. I honestly feel like there's so much the developers could've done with this system, and they chose the more boring task they could think of. What about PVP battles in tanks, NPCs and quests, anything else? It isn't that this rock-pushing game is bad, it's just not enough. I enjoyed half my time with this game. The rest was a chore and I wound up downloading other people's things just to get through the tedium of all the trial and error, trying to figure out what specific vehicle the devs wanted me to make. I feel like a huge update and new mode could fix all of this.Show moreShow less
