Dovetail Games is an absolute Thieving developer. The amount of money you have to sink into this sesspool of a developer every year is criminal. I gave TSW3 a chance, i bought the deluxe addition and it hardly has any content. their DLC page is endless, all available for additional ridiculous costs... after already having spent $60 for the same garbage you get with every release. i'm done and refuse to support this developer in any way. Microsoft flight simulator, by comparison, looks stunning and beautiful, is functional on ultra settings.... this atrocity crashes, lags, eats FPS, glitches on even high settings on a good spec PC. the graphics aren't even that great, marginally better than previous releases. im flummoxed, i cannot imagine any veteran of this game giving this a positive review. if you are new to TSW, you're better off buying a discounted older version because, newsflash...it's no different than this release.Show moreShow less

I cannot recommend this game at this time. 1) TSW3 suffers from the same performance issue as TSW2 : the stutter or pause every 10 seconds. DTG has yet to correct this issue while offering new content and demanding more money. 2) There is no real advancement here with TSW3 and they are (in a way) forcing folk to buy it by giving TSW3 the upgrades that "were promised for TSW2". For example, the Raildriver updates are completed for all locos in TSW3, but not for TSW2. So if you want "full" raildriver support for your entire Loco fleet, you have to upgrade to TSW3. However, DTG promised these updates for TSW2. It only took 1 hour for me to decide to request a refund for TSW3. I am going to stick with TSW2 for now. There are no great routes exclusive to TSW3 and, again, TSW3 gives nothing substantially more (especially in performance). We will have to see how DTG supports TSW3 going forward....and if these current promises turn into a TSW4 requiring more money. DTG has very slow development, they leave way too many thing broken, and then simply move on to the next set of new broken promises / DLC while demanding more money. But hey, enough folk are buying it for DTG to contimue with this business model.Show moreShow less
I have to say train sim world 3 does have better graphics and does have slightly better improvements overall compared to TSW 2 and 2020. But it is essentially in some instances the same as train sim world 2 as dovetail just copied and pasted over assets and any routes that you owned in train sim world 2, which is good you don't have to re buy routes and DLC content. I did really enjoy the Cajon Pass route and the new addition of the BNSF locomotives. This route is essentially an "upgrade" for me in terms of graphics and details compared to the version that is on train simulator classic which I own and played many hours before this was released in TSW 3. The weather effects and details are great as well and I liked driving a heavy freight train during a thunderstorm. While im going to recommend this primarily because of the improvements and graphics and with the ability to transfer your routes from TSW 2 and the addition of the new Cajon Pass route, I do feel like though dovetail could have kept on improving the last title in my opinion instead of just abandoning it and releasing a new game every 2-3 years. Some game developers do keep updating their games and adding content even if they are old games past that. *Cough Cough* (SCS software).Show moreShow less
I got through the tutorials, very excited to play a sort of Flight Sim style game where you can pick a route and drive trains in that area. What I did not expect is that you have to buy routes that are a lackluster 40 or 60 miles, with 3 or 4 trains included. The game was purchased for $11, but the routes are anywhere up to $25! >>>Who operates a video game under the "razor and blades" sales model???<<< Seriously, the routes I wanted to run in Boston, Massachusetts, were $15 to $25, when it'd be cheaper to buy an actual ticket on one of the trains outside of the game. Had to get a refund on this one.Show moreShow less
So... you want a Train Simulator and own TSC... what you doing here... this is a Dovetail Games Game, you know what to expect. It is TSC with better graphics, walking around and more control overall. If you like TSC you will have the same enjoyment and aggravation as with that one but better looking (in general) You do NOT own a Train Sim or something like Trainz..... than the question becomes... what do you want. Do you want routes from all over the world? Custom routes? Workshop content? a wide array of fan sites with their own routes and engines? Some of the best Steam Locs around?.... You are looking for Train Simulator Classic You are not that much of a thinkerer? Not really into workshop, installing mods... you just want pretty trains and gorgeous looking train rides. Walk around on the stations and yards, Start up a train from scratch and drive it away... This is your game. Don't bother with TSW or TSW2, excpet for one TSW route, everything made for those two games works on TSW3. You will not have the content choice yet that you will have with TSC, but the available content is absolutely ok so far. Regardless if you like Diesel Electric, EMU or ICE, there is content for everyone. They are even starting with the Steam Engine routes. You will find mainly UK, US and German routes. limited outside those countries. For all of you though. As I wrote to owners of TSC, You know what to expect. What to expect you ask. Well... This is Dovetail they are a bit.... how should I say.... sloppy workers at times. In general, routes will look great, trains will look great, but there will be bugs and glitches right after release. And depending on how important DTG deems them, they will be fixed somewhere between within a day and never. And I am not joking. the ICE route for Cologne for example has a broken introduction and that has been broken since it was released. This is a thing with DTG that is annoying but I guess most of us accepted that it probably never will change. Given the overall quality... we deal with it. (and in the case of TSC, you can fix a lot yourself, not so much with TSW3) Do I recommend this... it will be a yes but with the above caveats. I own both TSC and TSW/2/3 and they have both given me relaxation and enjoyment.Show moreShow less
with more than 800 dlc's for Train simulator and 78 dlc's so far (in less than 7 month) for Train sim world 3, it is obvious what kind of company you guys are and what kind of respect you have for your players. I have self respect therefore I am moving to Jack sparrow's team for this game if you know what I mean and if you are reading this and you respect yourself and your money, you would do the same as well. adios amigosShow moreShow less
If it's your first train simulator, which you are buying, then you can buy TSW3. And buy this game only on sale! I bought Train Sim World 3: Deluxe Edition with 40% discount and only then it's ok. Overall TSW3 is the same as TSW and TSW2 with a few upgrades. Dynamic weather should be added to TSW2 as patch, not as this 'new' game. Now we have 2023 and probably TSW4 will come before winter. If so, then this series will die for me.Show moreShow less
I will say, yes, it's one of the best train sims on the market in terms of graphics, interactions, authenticity/accuracy, and so on, but with this being their third release, noticeable problems still persist. DTG focuses more on producing more DLC than fixing underlying base game issues/former DLC issues (buggy DLC will get a "we're aware of the ___ bug" from DTG and 9 times out of 10, nothing is done about it). I think I speak for everyone when I say that I like variety (new DLC), but please fix the existing problems first before rolling out more buggy content. On the topic of DLC, your pretty limited in where you can, primarily, drive: the UK, US, and Germany, with the latter getting the most attention and the US either having passenger services (primarily) in the Northeast or freight routes in remote areas. "But they have a French and Canadian route!" Yes, route. Singular. As for the game and the bugs themselves, if you have a loco that appears on multiple routes (i.e. the Acela), you can select a service from the timetable and choose which route you'd like to drive on. If you chose Boston, it would show you NYC (and vice versa). All engines that appear on multiple routes have this bug. That's just one of the countless bugs in the game. I sadly can't recommend TSW3 right now. Hopefully if DTG really buckles down and starts to scrub out the bugs and listen to their audience, the game will become more playable and this review will become a positive one. But for now, no.Show moreShow less
