Try the demo first. Overall, a pretty interesting concept but it currently lacks depth and feels more like a tech-demo. Hopefully the Early Access process will allow the developers to grow this game to its full potential. This game is definitely charming and the first couple scenarios are good to kill some time with, but overall it has a long way to go to hold the attention of anyone except the most-casual of players. To be fair, cleaning broken glass, removing weeds, breaking down old shelves, and sorting refuse is all satisfying. The scanning tool is a great QOL feature to keep you from having to search for 20 minutes to find a stray piece of trash on the ground that you may have missed. The visuals are fine and the levels have nice scenic variation. Unfortunately, the 'renovation' part of the game falls short. To be clear, this is essentially a decorating game. The only interaction you really have with the technical rail-side aspects of the train station are breaking old wooden ties or sanding rusty rails (really??). There appears to be no attempt to tackle train signals, track switches, safety equipment, crowd-management devices, or any of the other interesting things that would set this apart from a boring House Flipping game, except for the ability to plop down a couple ticket machines and blank signboards. Even with that in-mind, the variety of placeable items is really limited. Several categories of basic furnishing are just straight-up missing, for example: lighting, wall shelving, climate-control devices, window dressings, or any decorations that aren't just potted plants. There also seems to be no gameplay impact on choosing high-quality items over cheap junk. Why buy the $600 modern vending machine when the ugly $400 one ticks the 'task' box just fine? After all the game even says that once the project is done, the station gets "transferred back to its owner" - it's not even yours when you finish with it! Why bother even revisiting past missions? Overall I wish this game had some semblances of consequences or deeper gameplay. The "complex economy" touted in the description is just not true; there is nothing to manage or operate... you get money to renovate, you spend the money. That's all. TL:DR; Try the demo, wait a bit and see how far the EA version progresses.Show moreShow less

At first I found the game relaxing but it kept frustrating me because of basic things. I wanted to like the game, but the whole thing plays like the demo. Just basic clean-up and renovations that can be totally nonsensical. Part of the goal of each station is to renovate the level's rooms. I passed the last bathroom check by placing 16 sinks wherever I wanted. No, the bathroom didn't need any toilets or paper towel dispensers to pass as a real bathroom. Just good old fashioned sinks everywhere. No mirrors though, they don't have that in the game. Oh, but the bathroom needs 6 decorations? It's a good thing there's a Christmas update, I can put Santa cookies on the bathroom sinks. I now get why people like Trucker Simulator 5000 or Hunter In The Woods 2042, I just wish I had a game where I could clean up a train station and not be sad. The game does have some fun details and easter eggs that made me laugh, it just wasn't enough to make me keep playing (Full disclosure I had to stop after 4th train station, just couldn't do it). They did try! And I genuinely enjoyed crashing my model train! Graphics wouldn't have been an issue but the game-play made me stop. A great shame it was too repetitive. I really hope we'll get a good one with Train Station Renovation 2. If there's a sequel I hope to be one of the first to recommend the game. Like I said, I really wanted to like the game. I'll finish it bits and pieces. If there's some amazing revelation by playing the game then I'll delete this whole review. I never even review unless I'm extremely impressed or upset. Golly Gee Whiz I wanted to like this game. Does Steam still censor curse words? ♥♥♥♥. Ass Damn. Bunghole.Show moreShow less
I'm an avid player of House Flipper. And Train Station Renovation....Wow! I've played all the way through and love it. There was lots to do. I found some stations took over an hour to complete. It's fun and relaxing. I enjoyed this game. I recommend it. You clean up train stations. You start out small and get bigger as you go. You clean up trash, make repairs, place items to complete missions. As you progress through a mission your earn stars (up to 5) along with bonus money. You earn points you can spend to upgrade you tools, which is done in the office. A bonus: you get to name you own renovation business. There is an achievement system. I found that I got many of these just by playing through the game. I have found I will need another play through to get them all. There is a scanner you can activate to let you know if you missed any trash or repairs you overlooked. (I found this very helpful). This is one of the tools you can upgrade. It does not tell you any benches, machines, furniture etc. you might not have placed. For this pay attention to the lower right corner of you monitor. There you find will be a list of items needing to be placed and how many are required. Keep an eye out for the large green circles in the area it will let you know you have tasks to complete. The list will only appear if you are in the area. Also, in the upper left corner main parts of the job appear to let you know what to do. (For example, Move the Train engine, place signs, or open crates). There are two types of trash bins: mixed (regular trash) and segregation (get paid for recycling). Make sure to pay attention to the trash you pick up. It,s separated into colored bags. If not in a bag look for the colored icon in the lower right of the screen it will let you know what you pickup. A gray trash can is mixed. Yellow, blue or green is recycle trash, which makes you money. I found that by using the axe I can break up some item. (Not all items can be broken down by using the axe.) After breaking them down they go into the recycle or regular trash sacks that eventually full up then can be placed in the assigned bin. Using the keyboard and mouse to get around is fairly easy. Rotating the items around have now become much smoother then when the game was first released. Thank you Devs for fixing this issue. Makes for more enjoyable game play. This game is nostalgia for me because it brought back were I grew up with the train rails were a block away. Playing this makes me miss the rumble of the train and the toot of the horn. Thank you Devs for a new wonderful game. UPDATE: Since release the Devs have added more stations, fixed a lot of issues and added items in the tablet to buy for renovation. You can also play the sandbox mod now. Thank you Devs for listening.Show moreShow less
Train Station Renovation is one of those "immersive sims" where you need to clean some territory from some junk and rubble, which actually makes it a 3d "find a hidden object/pixelhunter" type of game. Nothing wrong with that: you don't need to kill anything or strain hard to proceed. Just do a job, and move on to the next train station. Each one of the 16 available levels has some uniqueness in the layout and the tasks given, and some of them are quite peculiar, such as the level where you need to clean after the flooding or football fans fighting. All the time while I was playing this game, I was struggling between upvote and downvote for it. You see, while some elements of this game are made original and memorable, some other, pretty notable elements, like the game interface in the first hand, are made frankly crappy. The game lags very often, and you can read a lot of complaints about it in the gaming community. Several times (more than 10, I believe) I had to restart simply because the game was completely frozen without loading the necessary elements. It was the main game issue while it was in early access state in 2019, and it is still just like that in 2021. From the other point of view, nothing of those lags was really that drastic that I couldn't move on with the game progress. I've finished the game eventually, and I was still deciding would that be up or down until the last level. As an achievements hunter, I feel big discrimination from the developer. First of all, there is an achievement for completing all 15 levels of the main game without buying any tool upgrades. It's not making the game any harder or challenging. Only much longer and thus severely more annoying. The second thing is an achievement about collecting garbage into different boxes - you know, glass to glass, plastic to plastic and all that. The catch is, in the whole game, there is not enough garbage of specific nature, to complete this achievement. More likely, you'll need to complete the game two times to get it. And believe me, collecting "coloured" garbage into those "segregated" containers, rather than just dropping it all into the "mixed" garbage container, is a big pain in the back. Thus, at the end of the game, I'm completely disappointed in that game and its gameplay. Sure, sure, I see the bright sides of it - nice background views, very reminiscent of Poland and Eastern Europe in general, mild music and basic game tasks - it is all good. However, it is not enough to keep a player interested for more than 3 or 4 levels. And all other gameplay elements are made only for useless lengthening of the game time. Which I generally hate. Therefore, my mark is 5/10. Train Station Renovation is too generic and laggy to be recommended.Show moreShow less
Anyone with a tendency towards OCD behaviour will just love this game. I just spent 30 minutes looking for one piece of rubbish, was sooo happy when I finally found it. Ahh perfection makes me happy.Show moreShow less
This is a average borderline bad game. A bit like House Flipper but no where near as good. The controls aren't good especially when placing objects, the rotate is very fiddly. Toilet cubicle and parts are atrocious to place. It is quite a relaxing game if you want to just clean and make things look better. But not enough objects to be creative or make things more unique looking. Decorations consist mostly of plants and christmas decorations. Placing objects is boring and tedious so I just shove the requirements down in corners or along walls not even caring if it's facing the wrong way or if it looks orderly or nice. I did not have any bugs or crashing so was able to complete all levels 100%. The game is very linear you can only complete levels in order and even worse once you finish a level you can't go back and play it, and to be able to play it again you have to start a new game, which is terribly limiting as you can only get achievements in the campaign not sandbox. I did get bored with the game quite quickly and rushed and tried to complete levels as quick as possible. The game is not consistant enough with the tools you use. There are wood planks on the ground which say pick when you put the cursor over them and even though they look the same, some require you to use the crowbar on them, others require the axe, it happens with other objects as well. I can't recommend the game as it's not enjoyable enough to play. Trying to get 100% for each level felt like a form of torture. Even though I had not gotten all achievements, I could not stand to play it for another minute. The game lacks quality and freedom to replay the level you want in the campaign. There are other simular but much better made games that have much more polish, depth and fun. I'd rate it 5/10.Show moreShow less
If you like zen-style task simulators like House Flipper or Viscera Cleanup Detail, this game is right up your alley. It's a total chillfest, and pretty satisfying to finish. There's a sandbox mode too, if you want some extra reno time. But honestly it's worth it even if you just play through the main levels once to the end and call it a day. The replay value is kinda iffy IMO, unless you really want to go into the nitty gritty of sandbox mode and customize the hell out of a station. The floor/wall choices are a bit lacking though, so I guess YMMV depending on what aspect of these types of games you enjoy more - before/after satisfaction, or more customization options.Show moreShow less
Game would be fun if it didn't crash every 20 minutes for absolutely no reason.Show moreShow less
