I am a classically trained trombonist (both tenor and bass) with 27 years of experience. I have had the great privilege to play in wind ensembles and philharmonic orchestras that have performed pieces containing many of the most famous and recognizable trombone excerpts and solos; works by composers such as Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Bernstein, Copland, Dvořák, Saint-Saëns, Gershwin, Wagner, Ravel, Brahms, Mussorgsky, Rossini, Kodály, Borodin, Prokofiev, Berlioz, Marquez, and Shostakovich. You must believe me when I tell you that this is not just a rhythm game. This is a simulation. All the countless hours spent on practice, lessons, sectionals, and rehearsals were made redundant with Trombone Champ. It's real. All of it. The strobe lights. The "unintentional" glissandi. The conductor's disapproving gaze (implied by default). The raucous applause. The thinly-veiled antagonism of all other instruments. The baboons. ESPECIALLY the baboons. However, for all of Trombone Champ's incredible attention to detail and commitment to the accuracy of the trombone experience, it unfortunately lacks a way to train the user in the most important trombone skill of all, practiced over thousands of rehearsals sitting and listening to the strings, horns, woodwinds, and percussion play while you don't: counting tacet bars correctly before your next entrance. If they can somehow add that in, this simulation would truly be complete.Show moreShow less
want to love this game, but i have colour blindness and I cannot see the curser, so i had to ask for a refund. It looks like fun but some accessibility options would be greatly appreciatedShow moreShow less
I owe this game a solid thumbs up because I simply want other people to buy it and enjoy it. It was great for the short time I had it but unfortunately I was experiencing motion sickness from it. That's a negative on me, not the game. Nothing needs to change in the game as far as I'm concerned. So after 17 years on Steam, I had to make my first refund request... I'm sorry dev. And if you're a potential buyer also worried about motion sickness - I can only look through a pair of binoculars for about 5 to 10 seconds before I start getting the woozies. Don't let my review stop you. It's fun.Show moreShow less
Very fun to play but quick short notes feel like they don't register wellShow moreShow less

I feel bad /not/ recommending this, but if you have epilepsy or migraines, I'd heavily recommend skipping out on this game. The flashing isn't what triggered it I don't think- it's more the sound design/sound fonts being used and how bright everything is. It gets very painful after a certain amount of time and it ceases to be fun. I played it for a half hour and I have a screaming headache and I feel pretty dizzy. I think this might be one of those games that might be more fun to watch someone else play vs. playing yourself if you have some sort of chronic neurological condition because you can moderate your experience a little more carefully. There are very few accessibility options offered in game which is truly unfortunate. What I did play was entertaining enough, but not enough to get a migraine over.Show moreShow less

I'll get this out of the way first: this game is very funny and I had a pretty good time playing it for 2 hours. I do have a couple of issues with it though. While it's great that tHere is a calibration setting, it's a little wonky. Clicking to the beat to calibrate on separate occasions has given me wildly different results (ranging from 20 ms to over 150) and I'm nOt confident that it's very accurate when playing a song with the calibrated setting. Any time there are quick eighth noTes in succession, the game either asks the player to be too precise, or the game doesn't register the player's inputs well, or something of the sort. The eighth notes just feel baD in this game for whatever reason, and I don't think it was intended to be so unforgiving. This game is $15 and even though it was enjoyable, it's a bit steep. For $15, you're getting a small handful of sOngs and a quirky little side quest which, by the way, makes you click a chest 99 times in order to progress multiple times, which was a great gaG in the Thousand Year Door, and pretty funny the first time in this game, but stopped being funny when I realized I had to do it more than once. Maybe I'm being a bit too harSh, this game is silly and fun and probably shouldn't be taken this seriously anyway.Show moreShow less
like osu but not for losersShow moreShow less
I dont see the appeal, its fun for the first 10 minuets, but the gameplay loop is bare. It gets repetitive and boring within an hour. A novelty game at best. But not worth 15 bucks for sure.Show moreShow less
