DISCLAIMER: I received this game for free as a tester, I did not give a negative pre release review, because I understand being a developer is not easy and a negative review can kill hype, even if I didn't enjoy the game I still respect and love game developers. So first off, the premise of the game is super exciting. I was hyped for the idea that there were multiple choices, multiple endings and fully voiced characters! However the negatives were not something I was prepared for. Below I'll start with the positives then dig into the negatives. Positives: -Character voicing was awesome with lots of variety -Graphics were decent, animations were mostly good with a few hiccups. (characters clipping etc). -Sound effects and OST were extremely beautiful, I even cried at one point. -Initially all the options and choices make the game seem exciting (INITIALLY) Now for the dreaded negatives and reason I DON'T recommend the game. -I played the game for over 10 hours, and NEVER left the single level. That's, right, TEN hours in a single room. I don't know If I am just really really stupid or what, but even when I made a ton of progress and understood most of the story, progression was in fact impossible. Unless I am given a cheat code sheet of phrases to use in a specific order "figuring" out the game is a daunting unrewarded task. I also found that even though the game gives you 100's of options to choose from in dialogue, most of it is either only for lore and meaningless after the first time you hear it, or it actually just resets your run to the beginning. The choices are as wide as an ocean but as deep as a puddle in most instances. -There are no checkpoints as far as I know, I would spend 20 minutes listening to dialogue just to try another option that led to a reset AGAIN. I don't know about you but constantly repeating the same level over 80 times, over TEN HOURS is aggravating as all heck. I mean I like puzzles, but when you are given 100 plus options and none of them lead to an ending and they all reset each time the game makes you think you are making progress, it makes me want to turn the game off and read a book or something. -Inconsistencies in the story. Throughout my playthrough I found many inconsistencies that meant things that should have worked did in fact not work. It was aggravating to say the least when the wife asks you to prove you are in a time loop, you say a storms coming and she says she already knows, but if you dont tell her a storms coming when thunder sounds she stupidly says "OH I WaSnT ExPeCtInG a StOrM" LIKE REALLY, REALLY! -Character choices don't always make sense. For example at one point you can hide in a closet while the main antagonist has his back to you. You can practically touch him through the opening in the closet, but if you select the knife and click him the character OPENS THE CLOSET DOOR AND PROCEEDS TO GET HIS ASS KICKED. A common theme in this game is that no matter how clever you think you are only a few methods work and even fewer progress the story. I eventually figured out the story and how to deal with the antagonist and without spoilers it just resets you again even when things are about to progress. it was so frustrating I actually haven't played the game since it happened. In Short: Without spoilers I liked the story, but who wants to spend 10 hours in a single room listening to the same thing over and over with no progress? I don't recommend it unless you wanna piss someone off as a joke. I swear if I have to hear the wife do an impression of Mario Kart Toads OWOWOWOWOW one more time or "help me, can you come help me, HUSBAND WHOS TRYING TO HIDE TO SAVE YOUR LIFE, I might just break my keyboard! I really wanted to like this game, I tried day after day in total 7 days of playtime to like this (I was a tester), but I could not change my opinion. I almost did when I progressed pretty far through the story, but when I was reset again I immediately lost all interest. In the future if changes were made to make the game player friendly I would consider coming back to it. However I shouldn't be given 100 options if only 1 leads to progression. The game makes the player feel stupid, and doesn't reward you anytime you do happen to make a little sliver of progress. By the end of my playthrough the wife was annoying as hell to listen to and hearing the main character say "Well that didnt work, or I HaVe To FiNd AnOtHeR WaY" was absolutely excruciating. In conclusion I at this point have to wonder if the developer was in fact doing some sort of psychological experiment to see how long people can play a game before getting pissed off at the fact that nothing they do in any order makes any permanent progress. EDIT: Comments are now disabled do to toxic unproductive comments practically cursing me and my ancestors. This review IS an opinion based on one persons experiences. The first hour or two of the game are great, as you constantly feel like you're uncovering new secrets and slowly progressing the plot while figuring out puzzles. However, the second half of the game really drops the ball, as it drags on far longer than it needs to and starts to lose momentum. The writing in the first half is semi believable and pulls you in, but goes into completely absurd territory in the second half as it unleashes one 'twist' after another until the whole thing becomes ridiculous. Each 'loop' through the game events feels like it takes even longer than the previous ones as you have more and more steps to remember and perfect, causing the game's later stages to drag on forever. Finishing this game also requires completing exact specific steps in a specific order, with little to no variance on how those steps can be completed. If you miss one item or even so much as miss-time your click, even with the correct items, you get forced to restart. This leads to some serious frustration at the end of the game once you've gathered every clue and have a complete understanding of the story, since even with all the information, you'll still have to resort to pure trial and error (repeatedly) to finally get through to the end credits. Each time you experiment to find the solution and get it wrong, you have to sit through the entire sequence again. I really enjoyed the beginning of the game, but man, the last couple hours are pure pain and it really sours the experience. Consider looking at Sexy Brutale instead if you'd like a good time looping mystery game.Show moreShow less
As like some other reviewers, I have been waiting for this game to come out for a long time; ever since it was announced. I like choice making-like games and the concept of time-loop in a game, so this game was perfect for me. I pre-ordered as soon as I could and once I was able to download it, I played it for practically 9 hours straight. The gameplay and story is very interesting and the graphics and art of the game are great. The voice acting is awesome and love the actors they chose for it. The game is fun though after like my 20th loop, it eventually got tedious for me but then again its a time-loop game so bound to be repetitive and tedious. I won't put that as a con for it being repetitive as its a time-loop game after all. Its a game where you got to try new approaches or same approaches over and over again to find out different pieces of information or outcomes with stuff you learned from the previous loop. The game had me thinking about love but also about doing the right thing which i believe was idea in the end. Overall the game was fun and I enjoyed it. The cons were that it can be frustrating/confusing at times to figure out what to do next but it is a mystery/thriller story so perhaps expected (lol) and the ending could be more desirable(though still made me think) I say if you like the time-loop idea, mystery solving, dialogue choice making, the voice actors, point-click gameplay, and its art style, then its the game for you. I say its an 8 - 9 out of 10. P.s There is some taboo elements in its story, so be prepared for it and if you are sensitive to such things, probably shouldn't play it. p.s.s I hardly write review for games so not sure what that tells you about this game but if it helps in your decision, then happy it was helpful. have fun and thanks for reading my review.Show moreShow less
I went into this game knowing that people said some parts were cryptic. However, loving the visual style, the publisher, and the concept, I decided to go for it anyways. This is coming from someone who loves David Lynch, Hitchcock, and Lucasarts point and click adventure games: this game is not fun and has an objectively bad story. Without spoiling, what I mean by objectively bad is that the story quite literally expects us to believe something about a character that there is no plausible way for us to believe about them. I was expecting time loops, fake cops, and generally twists that would make sense and thicken the plot. The game's main twist completely breaks the plot, and left me with absolutely no drive to finish the game afterwards. I did finish it, but not without the aid of a walkthrough. To put it into perspective. I was extremely happy with my progress about halfway through the game. I felt smart, as the game was not holding my hand. However, I knew a piece of information from my previous loop that I could absolutely not find a way to get my character to say in game. Swallowing my pride, I consulted a walkthrough to see that I had done exactly what needed to be done, simply BEFORE reselecting a dialogue option (which was not highlighted, as most of the essential ones were). I had clicked that same dialogue option several times through my loops, but a very specific order needed to occur for my progress to continue. This was when the game descended into depths I thought impossible of a game I was so excited to play. The story meandered around waiting for me to figure out the increasingly specific order of actions I had already completed 60+ times. I expected to feel some level of hopelessness based on the time loop mechanic; but the frustrations I faced were not based at all on the interesting causality time loop, but sheer asinine point and click sequencing issues that completely killed the experience. TL;DR If you're gonna play this just for the story: don't. If you think it will be fun: it's notShow moreShow less

Really enjoyed the first section of the game. After the new and shiny wears off it feels tedious and repetitive. You're constantly ahead of the story, so in the middle section you're just trying to get the characters to say what you need them to to progress which can be frustrating. Once you realize the twist, not only does it leave an uncomfortable and disturbing taste in your mouth, but it ruins the rest of the game by giving it context that makes it worse the more you think about it. I also don't understand why multiple endings was necessary as they're all terrible and leave you feeling the same way because of the choice in narrative, even the "true" ending. Love the overall concept, so I hope more developers take a crack at this type of game and really do it justice.Show moreShow less
You really get to feel the frustration and agony of living a 12 minute loop.Show moreShow less
Twelve Minutes could have been fantastic, and is almost great. I was enjoying it a lot for at least half my playtime. The longer I played, the less I liked it, and the conclusion of the story made me retroactively hate the game. It's hard to talk about this game without spoilers, and there's no reason to play it after being spoiled, so I'll not talk about the plot directly. All I can really say here is that the plot reveals are nonsensical and ludicrously unbelievable - there is absolutely no way your character doesn't already know the information they 'learn', and when you learn it as a player it's difficult to want to continue playing. There is no satisfying resolution after reaching the ending either. There is no way to make this ending satisfying, given the final piece of the puzzle. It is really, really frustrating. The game feels like it reaches an end, there's a decent progression of narrative, all major plot points are revealed and concluded, and then... it continues. The main character even breaks the 4th wall to comment that they also thought they were 'done' too. If the game ended here it would have been a satisfying - albeit significantly overpriced - experience, clocking in around the 2-3 hour mark. I wouldn't be so bummed out if it was just a bad game, but it's not. It's really quite good! The setup is good, the hubby and wife are likeable enough, the acting is good, the puzzles are generally good if a little too reliant on trial and error, and it runs pretty well. It's just.. I can't get over how bad that final narrative beat is. Unfortunately the game tries to be too clever. I was worried it was going to be pretentious arthouse wank when it forced me to view the entire game credits before it started, and.. yeah. By the end it absolutely is. It also forced me to rewatch the entire full credits twice more during the story, and the lead designer's name is probably mentioned 30-40 times during runtime. This felt like a story that desperately needed an editor, but given the specifics of the plot reveal and how often the designer credits themself, I'm not terribly surprised it ended up like this. If there was a mod for the game which *removed* content, and instead ran the credits just prior to the final reveal, I'd actually recommend this game. As it is at the moment, I don't know. I can't in good faith give it a thumbs up.Show moreShow less
