After taking a few hours to try out the new update, I've got to say this feels like an improvement on pretty much every level The game feels nicer and more polished, and I have been having quite a bit of fun with it. Characters, weapons, armor, and cosmetics are now loot or drops instead of a massive grind, so you can experiment more with your playstyle and find what works. There are some small bugs and hitches here and there, but overall I'm enjoying myself a lot more and am more willing to recommend this to peopleShow moreShow less
Positive review not available in your region :) Also 10 dollars for 1100 runesilver, but weapons cost 1150 so you're forced to buy it for 20 dollars lmao, seems fairShow moreShow less
This is an example of a developer who knows how to take a hit, gather themselves, and redirect their effort into a new trajectory. The gameplay loop is about as fun as it gets when it comes to ARPG. It is a mixture of Darksiders, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Diablo. With 1.0 right around the corner, I would highly recommend this one!Show moreShow less
Actual joke of a release. Community manager gaslights community while the devs apparently come to the realization that more than 50 people will be playing an online game. Servers are broken and you cannot login at launch. Early access or not, when you ask people for their money to play your game, you should at least have a functioning login at the bare minimum. This should be a free early access and if people decide to dump money into this broken product, they can do so on their own accord. The fact that the devs are charging up to $150 for this broken mess is an absolute disgrace. Not to mention they have the nerve to charge for a battle pass on top of everything. These devs should be ashamed of themselves. Modern gaming ladies and gentlemen. Modern gaming.Show moreShow less
UPDATE ONE BOTTOM - returned after X amount of time. (I wont be changing my past review, because the game is still good, and the devs really pushed through the dumpster fire of luck they had) Hey all, I hope you give this review a read! This game has led to a massive cult uprising due to SERVER ISSUES Read through all the reviews, at minimum the red is about the toxicity in the discord, queue time, and disconnects. I am also one of those suffering the same tragic fate. I can't say this will be a WoW killer like many other games have claimed, or been overly hyped to be claimed by others, but I have at least got to be lucky enough to put in a few actual hours, outside of the mini-game event (trying to login), and I have to say it is fantastic, like REALLY fantastic! Been gaming for decades. And I have become pretty numb to a lot of games. I have been missing that good ole' Vanilla/BC WoW level of desire to play a game. This one, it hits that spot, truly. Lots of reasons why: This game has some really community driven staff behind it, much like WoW did before it became about the money. - Community Managers are in talking and relaying the info between the company and the players, and taking it a step further with all the hate, and opening up their DMs to help deescalate issues and help the players feel even more heard. (Give me other titles that do this, outside of an indie-game with only 1000 hardcore fanboy players) - The combat feels so slick and smooth -- Various styles of combat with different playable characters and different weapons that can be interchanged. -- Stamina bar that depletes while in combat giving you 2 dodge rolls and enough sprint to get back and stab the enemy in the face (as melee). Tons of dodge roll mechanics in games miss out on this gem.. - Graphics feel refreshing and eye appealing -- A perfect mix of brightness and other eye popping colors that really appeals to the eye, has the same style as gigantic, if you have ever played that. And slightly Breath of the Wild 1&2. - The reward Tower is an amazing breath of fresh air -- It is not an "if you don't use it you lose it" thing, its more of an "If you buy it, it is yours to keep and complete whenever you want, even if you take a year off" kind of thing - Cross-play and cross-save (planning on going to Xbox along side the PC & PlayStation, bringing it to your desk or couch, and if you travel you have even more options to bring it with you, so NO FOMO! Which is perfect for someone like me that has to take multiple medical trips for my brain cancer. I get to be distracted from all the fuss and continue to enjoy the game. Speaking of fuss, hate your family camping trips? Dive in there as well! HAHA - Housing has amazing potential (very in-depth apartment editing to start with, and neighborhoods coming soon. To top that of, guild neighborhoods! So, it will add even more replayability with adding a massive social appeal. Which is another core reason we all play online games. I, for one, am beyond excited to see where this game will go and the journey it will take me. Don't read the angry bomb reviews and think the game is bad. The only thing bad about this right now is the majority of people that joined in day one and turned an amazing community into a toxic one, because the company did not expect such a turn out and it busted their servers wide open. In fact those people still complain and whine while waiting in queue about being in queue, so they can play the game. We are talking about an hour or two wait time, so these complainers and review bombers are still wanting to play this game pretty badly. So,, they want to play the game is very high! So high they talked about review bombing in the discord to get the attention of the devs, to fix their servers so they could play the GAME, which the review bombers seem to really enjoy. Take this review as you will, but I recommend it, the server situation sucks monkey balls right now, BUT the game itself has brought back the love of gaming that I have lost since old school WoW days. 100% worth it, but keep in mind it is in Early Access, more of a live beta. And this company really wants to listen to community to create a game that players WANT to play. Tip: Join the discord, ignore the trolls and wait for Sir_Snarf and SOLIDAge to say "server situation is solved." Or until all the complaints in discord dissipate. You will know also by when the chatter in discord stops, because everyone is in and playing the game. Other join us on the queue struggle or wait a bit before you buy into the EA, either way the GAME is ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! ---------- Update | 6/17/24 ---------- They game is still as I remembered it, just sucks for both parties, players and devs. They made a fantastic game, however, I am choosing no longer to play due to the loss of all my founder's items. Coming back to having to restart a character is just fine by me, but losing out on all the money I put into for the exclusive perks, and extra for the cash shop during the 1st phase, just to come out with a purple pet.. That was just too much. So, bottom line, game is great, and new players go and enjoy it, returning players, especially founder's, beware for a gut punch. This parting is bitter sweet. I, sincerely, wish the best for the continuing players, devs, and the game itself!Show moreShow less

[Echoes Review] Gameplay: Combat is very smooth and playstyles will vary based on what weapons you use. Wayfinders aren't limited to any particular weapons and there seems to be a synergy with most Wayfinder/Weapon combinations, though some characters work better with some weapons than others. Being able to switch Wayfinders, your weapons, accessories and echoes at any time is a HUGE boon to being able to adapt to combat conditions on the fly. Desync, Lag and Rubber-banding: Zero issues remain on this front now that the online component is gone. There's still some loading issues whenever you enter the Highlands but overall the zone still loads faster than it used to. Hopefully this is fixed before 1.0 launch. Gear: Weapons drop now and aren't crafted. Armor seems to only drop once. 100+ copies of the Ransom rifle and Typhoon axe after ~20 hours of MSQ and side quest grinding is a bit of an issue but thankfully weapons you don't want can be sold for good amounts of gold. The old system of requiring various components to craft weapons and summon wayfinders is still there but is used for Awakenings now. Accessory and potion crafting remains unchanged. Armor is strange compared to weapon drops when you consider you only get one of that item ever compared to the constant replacing of weapons. The stats on armor is all percentage-based so even early game drops can remain relevant later on. Armor cannot be sold (thank goodness) and echoes cannot be slotted into them. Echoes themselves drop more often than they used to so you'll never NOT have enough of them to slot into your weapons and accessories. You can also sort Echoes by the various stats available so you can min/max or optimize more easily. The game could greatly benefit from a better fusion system for improving Echoes IMHO. Character Unlocks: You still pick one of three initial Wayfinders at the start of the game and you're practically given the other two selections by playing the early MSQ. Other characters are unlocked by getting their summoning stones to drop from mobs and bosses. Good drop rates practically guarantee you'll have all the Wayfinders long before the MSQ moves into the frost region. Cosmetics: Every armor and weapon drop unlocks the ability to use their visuals in the game's Style/Transmog system. Dye colors start off as a limited pool of choices but more are unlocked just by playing the game and using in-game currencies at vendors. Mounts and ability visuals cannot be recolored so keep that in mind if you're wanting THAT level of color coordination. Overall I feel the Echoes update is generally a much better version of the game than it's original iteration. Hopefully this upcoming Early Access release will iron out the last few bumps and wrinkles and that the final 1.0 version will be as complete as can be. [The re-tooling from MMO to Single-Player controversy] Digital Extremes pulled out of their agreement with Airship Syndicate and left this game high and dry without a publisher. After unsuccessful attempts to find a new publisher, the devs decided to self-publish. After that transition was complete they suspended sales of Founder's Packs and made the choice to rework the game from a live-service MMO to an offline single-player game with optional peer-to-peer co-op play. Founders asking for refunds are being told that due to the way things were set up when DE was publisher, all of the money from those Founder's Packs went to DE. According to AS, now that they're self-publishing, they can't do anything about the money that was collected while DE was the publisher and as a result AS can't refund that money. This inability to issue refunds has understandably made a portion of the Founders very upset, hence the recent surge in negative reviews. I can't really accurately review the gameplay or anything else in the game as of the time of writing this review. Once the May 31st update rolls out the game will undergo drastic changes, so there's no point in talking about those things as they are now. I'll update this review to include things like gameplay, lag and game systems once the Echoes update goes live. I'm not going to give this game a negative review for what seems to be a bad hand dealt to these developers by their previous publisher. Airship Syndicate isn't pulling a Sony here. Paid for the game that is not even working, also nice cash shop with items priced at 1150 but packs give you 1100 or 2000 10/10 would not recommend :)Show moreShow less
Developer kept game from shutting down. Developer removes always online requirement. Developer removes microtransactions. Developer adds content. These guys did everything Ubisoft refused to do. Games pretty good too.Show moreShow less
