i hatched a very long dog named woah nelly; i've been keeping her alive with a diet of the bodies and souls (see: dog cores) of her friends and offspring but if anything bad ever happens to her i'm going to snapShow moreShow less
I bought Wobbledogs on impulse, and I thoroughly enjoyed it for the time I spent playing it. It has a ton of charm, is genuinely really cute and funny, and the idea of raising and mutating dogs in new and funny ways isn't something I've seen done before in the way that this game does it. I highly recommend dogs if you want a cute game that's about watching dogs grow, change, and run around being cute. This game is amazing for that, and it's both a point for and against the game that there really isn't much to Wobbledogs besides those few things. But for the sake of this review, I find the lack of depth to be a detriment to the game. The problem for me is that the game is ONLY about the breeding aspect of the dogs, when you get past the other side mechanics of the game. The physics simulation aspect is fun but doesn't really have a bearing on gameplay other than how the dogs move and interact with the environment. This would normally be fine because that's the main draw of the game, seeing how the dogs walk around and interact, but the ways the dogs can interact both with each other and their habitat is limited to the point that the physics doesn't really impact the gameplay in a meaningful way. The training you can do by reinforcing and dissuading behaviors with scolding/praise is fun, and is really nice to see when it affects the behavior and temperament of the dogs, but often times the behaviors are largely inconsequential in the longer term. And besides these two gameplay mechanics, all that's really left is decorating and breeding. The reason I'm pointing this out is mainly because this game feels like it's missing something: MInigames. Minigames were the cornerstone of other pet games in the mid 2000s that really gave incentive to train and grow your pets, and work towards certain breeding and training goals in the long run. The two biggest examples of this concept are in Nintendogs and Chao Garden, where those really acted as the end goal for the game, and I think a lot of the games found in both of these, ranging from frisbee to agility courses to sumo competitions, would be a really natural fit for Wobbledogs. The wide variety of sizes, shapes, features, and trainings interacting with the physics engine of the game would impose such a natural sense of difficulty and chaos to these minigames that would be really fun to play and experiment with, finding the perfect combination and breeding the perfect dog for each different aspect these games could offer. Wobbledogs is a really fun game to sit down and watch a bunch of silly blocky dogs wobble around for a bit, but I think other games in the past have proved that there can be a bit more to engage with when it comes to a concept like this. I'd love to see this game fleshed out more over time, but as of right now there's just not enough meat on the dog bone to give it a thumbs up.Show moreShow less
Got my first dog Pancake. Played with him, fed him, loved him. Got some more dogs for Pancake. Pancake played with them. Was best friends with Randy. Watch Pancake grow older & change with the minutes. Always happy and playful. I loved Pancake. Proceeds to die right in front of me. My other 4 dogs then come over & eat his dead body right in front of me, all while I'm still in shock that dogs can die in this game. 10/10 game. Taught me more about loss than my parents ever did.Show moreShow less
This is more of a breeder simulator than a pet simulator. The core game is built around collecting mutations and making the wobbledogs look a certain way. There are other aspects of the game, for example you can decorate the rooms and interact with the wobbledogs, but there aren't a lot of content in these aspects and some of the content are locked behind grinding. You will soon lose interest in caring about individual wobbledogs and all of them will become part of your breeding program. This is also evident in the forum. Apart from people asking about how to play the game, it's just like a breeder forum where people talk about traits. No one talks about lovely interactions with their wobbledogs like pet owners. The game is OK. Maybe a slightly lower price would make more sense. But I'm giving it a NO because it's not a pet simulator.Show moreShow less
My experience playing wobbledogs: -I breed a funky little boy with absurdly thin and long legs and a very short body because its funny and cute -I am met with the realization that he simply can not walk, no matter how much I move him around and wiggle him into place, he always falls over and can't get back up -I am reminded of the horrors of irl crossbreeding of dogs and breeds like the pug which have trouble breathing and are prone to loosing eyes because their skulls are so shallow and they just fall out -I experience real genuine and immense guilt at bringing this creature into the world unable to live happily without constant assistance -I give him a special room with moon gravity so he has more mobility -I start feeding him nothing but bananas and alien fruit to thiccen his legs and elongate his very small body -a few pupations later: a happy boy emerges ;w; Noodle is able to live out the rest of his days comfortably Conclusion: sometimes the silliest options are the wrong ones and playing god can be taken a bit too far. Fabulous game that teaches many important life lessons!!Show moreShow less
I have been watching the development of this game very closely since I happened upon it a few months back. The game is so charming, the music is lovely and it is clearly built with love. It's a very fun and cute game though very basic right now. Most of the fun relies on watching how your dogs randomly mutate and grow. Really it reminds me of watching and raising an ant colony but the ants are small jellybean "dogs". You feed them, pet them, teach them tricks and watch them bumble around the various rooms you can build for them. What sets it apart from most pet sims is how feeding the dogs different combinations of food makes them mutate when they breed/pupate. You can create almost an infinite amount of different looking dogs which adds endless replay value. You never know what your pup will grow in to! Right now the gameplay loop is a tad boring but as new features are added I am sure there will be more to do. However, despite the system requirements listed and my computer outmatching them (as far as can see anyway), the game runs so so poorly. It is nearly unplayable, especially with more than a handful of dogs in the colony. The frames drop to the point of giving me a headache from just looking at the screen. Obviously this makes the game hard to enjoy. Because of this I am hesitant to recommend the game until some sort of settings are in place to allow you to lower the graphic options or the game is more optimised. From other reviews the game seems to be working fine for other people but I did see others mentioning the game running poorly. It is such a shame as I could easily sink hours and hours in otherwise! Also I do realise this is very early access and only came out a handful of days ago so some bugs and issues are to be expected. The dev has been very responsive and quick to fix major bugs as they appear. I do not want this to seem like me knocking the game in any way. Like I said if it wasn't for how badly it runs I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.Show moreShow less
I bred a dog called Stephen. Stephen had some really long, skinny legs so Stephen couldn't walk. Whenever he was hungry, I dragged him to the food pile. When he was bored, I dragged him to a toy. Then, a message appeared on screen. Stephen didn't have much time left. I immediately brought the camera to him and gave him tons of pets and praised him. However, he wasn't dead yet. I went back to my other dogs and after a while, Stephen was about to die. I brought the camera to him and leaned back in my chair with dismay as I watched Stephen helplessly flail on the floor. I watched as his body parts fell off. Another dog walked by and ate Stephen's leg like the fry it was. RIP Stephen and all those who came before him. So yea pretty good game to waste time Also I had a tiny dog called Meatball, and Meatball was best friends with a giant dog called Extra. They died together in the same room.Show moreShow less
I bought this game for a relaxing and fun sandbox experience but honestly? I have not gotten a lot of the low stress fun vibes I have been hoping for. Having more than maybe 4 or 5 dogs at a time turns this game into something really stressful for me. There is always a dog that needs something new, and I don't get to spend a lot of time admiring my dogs. You could argue that I could store my excess dogs, but the real joy I was finding in the game was from the mutations my dogs developed. Raising only a few at a time greatly limits your options, and your dogs only live for about an hour without sacrificing core crystals. It hasn't felt worth training my dogs when they do not have the mutation I want. I have been playing for eight hours over the last couple days trying to get a winged dog. This game is not fun enough to keep me grinding anymore. Maybe if there was anything fun to do I'd keep doing? But it's just cleaning poop and feeding endlessly. I could be training them better, but I am constantly swapping pens to try and give myself the best breeding odds. The basic mutations don't feel nearly as novel when you have been looking at them for so many hours already and can't get the one you want. If the things above don't seem frustrating to you and you think you could engage with it in a fun way, by all means try it out. But I only really had fun for the first two or three hours, and the last 5 have been increasingly frustrating. If you're gonna make me grind, make it fun at leastShow moreShow less

Honestly, I bought it with hopes of it being good but I found that the game quickly got boring. Not a lot to do and what there is to do feels really repetitive. I know a lot of people love this game, and for good reason. It's clear a lot of love was put into making this game. It just wasn't for me.Show moreShow less
