To all the players of World of Warships, I believe everyone has noticed the recent changes in the in-game economy, whether it's for anniversary celebration, plot battle, random battle, special modes, dockyard, battle pass, sequential bundles or armory. Wargaming is continuously pushing the boundaries and testing the limits of its players. If you are familiar with the game "War Thunder," you probably know the consequences when game developers constantly provoke their player base. As players of this game, we contribute to its activity, and in theory, Wargaming should appreciate each and every one of us who continues to support and encourage this game. However, Wargaming keeps pushing the boundaries and exploiting each and every one of us. This recent eighth anniversary is not just a simple anniversary, Wargaming is gradually making it clear that if you don't pay for this game, you don't deserve to play it. I implore every player here to bravely stand up and resist this behavior. Wargaming has now infringed upon our rights as players, and we cannot, and should not, let Wargaming continue to exploit us in the future. It is time for us players to unite and stand together. We should be a collective, a class, opposing Wargaming's exploitation and oppression towards us. We are here to enjoy this game, to find joy in it, and we should not be working for Wargaming. I hope that each player will save and spread this message. This post will undoubtedly be deleted, but we should copy it, share it, on any platform, anywhere that allows us to make our voices heard. Fellow warriors, let's fight for our future. Stay strong! Stop recharging, leave your criticism!Show moreShow less

World of warship has reached a new low. Everybody knows that every game company’s goal is to milk players for as much money as possible. Smart companies do it so that player pay because they are happy. Wargaming’s way is to treat players with contempt. Wargaming demands its CCs to show “respect” while treating truth tellers and players with none. Blatant falsehood during money grab only gets lame “apologies” when exposed. How it’s PR department in Russia not get fired is beyond me.Show moreShow less

I have played this game since the open beta. It has grown quite a bit since then, in good ways and bad, but there are some major factors with this game that have driven me to write this negative review. Note, while I did put around 2000 battles into the game before the steam release, I have not played the game for around 3 months, and the developers have given me no incentive to do so. Positives: The game has rather pretty ship models, even though the developers haven't been able to figure out anti-aliasing and sometimes make historical mistakes (and sometimes even fix them). In general, the ship modelers are very good and this is probably the one place where the game shines. I would include sound effects here, too. Aircraft sound terrible. AA effects are getting better as of Jan 2019. Update: As of 2019, there are more cooperative game modes which help stave off the boredom of team deathmatch. Major problems with this game: Graphics - The engine Wargaming runs this game on is horribly overtaxed. It was not designed to simulate water, so your ships will float along driving like a tank on a flat 2d plane with little water animations moving up and down the sides. Watch Dev Diary #8. At a glance, it looks fine. But once you start to see it, you realize how much more this game could be with a full engine built for it. It's a bathtub, not an ocean. No dramatic pitching and rolling, no waves crashing over bows, no distinctly different weather - this will become very noticeable during "cyclones" which puts a little curtain of light rain over your ship and lowers your draw distance. It's really disappointing in 2017. The devs are trying to improve it. It looks marginally better in 2019. We'll see how water effects change with submarines being added. "Mechanics" - Like most free-to-play games, WoWs relies heavily on RNG to pad out their content and add a false layer of "depth" to the game. For example, the game will add rng to all of your shooting as dispersion, so hitting a ship at mid-long range has miss chance to average player skill levels. This was because their decision to make gameplay speed of ships on a 2D battlefield slow enough that they seem to have "weight" also makes a point-and-click interface insanely easy to hit targets. You will find RNG in almost all mechanics- Map choice (no pick/ban), team makeup (no lobby w/o training room mod!), DoT chance is RNG based, direct DPS has rng miss chance, AA and dive bombing is all RNG based. Not to mention everyone's hated "feature" - Detonation - you have an RNG chance of exploding when hit. Naturally then, things often considered "strong" in the game are the things that players CAN control, aka are not based in rng, like HP regen, stealth, smoke, radar, hydro, defensive fire. Because of this, developing new ships and premium ships generally centers around this handful of mechanics: armor is more a factor of gun penetration, ship speed does not have enough visual variation between the classes to really matter. So we have "balance" and "new" ships based on their consumables. It used to be the case that a ship would have to choose between slotting certain ones, but newer ships basically all get some variation of hp heal, radar, hydro, smoke, or defensive fire. Put simply, the game devs have run out of 'depth'. Everything for the last year can be described as "Basically like ship X, but with Y consumable!" Carriers were basically abandoned by the devs after launch but as of Jan 2019 are the latest example of the ineptness of the devs to do something right. Maps in general - Despite the pretty models, maps are mediocre skyboxes; they look ok at first glance, but if you play more than a few games on a map, you will find it getting boring. Some of them are hilariously unbalanced or promote extremely boring playstyles. This game suffers from it's map design, and I really wish they worked on adding more variety. Carriers - Previously this was a long-winded story of the tragic history of CVs in this game. Abandoned by devs before they were finished in the alpha, patched with a placeholder mechanic called 'strafe', promised a rework in 2017 when this review was first written, responsible for multiple scandals, and finally as of January 2019, after months of community testing and feedback warning at the broken state of release, the rework was launched to atrocious community reception, with the entire playerbase being told "bare with it and beta test this for us please". A full carrier rework was something I advocated strongly for in 2017, but the company prefers to drive their product off a cliff before fixing it. Definitely 'wait and see' but you shouldn't trust Wargaming to do it right anyway. Poor Community Relationship & Cash-grab at Gamescon 2017- This fall the developers released the "Graf Zeppelin" premium CV, despite the fact that it was an unfinished, unbalanced, and overpriced mess. Despite widespread (and I do mean widespread, from the community contributors down to forums in every region) outcry and criticism, Wargaming berated the community by calling them inept, kicked out community contributors, and declared that everything was fine, locking threads and deleting comments showing bugs. They turned around and admitted a few days later that things were not as they were intended, and offered refunds for the ship (the first time they have done this). This is sadly the norm, as it has been for years, they are incredibly tone deaf to the playerbase. If you take it on the nose as a free-to-play game, then you should NEVER buy premium ships - the devs will tweak and edit their stats and abilities again in the future, guaranteed. They tend to retire the horribly balanced ones from the store (Nikolai, looking at you in particular), but that just leaves them in the hands of the abusers. I would also make you aware as a steam user that the ENTIRE reason Wargaming released this game on Steam is because they have been loathe to take on the burden of paying the bandwidth costs for downloading the bloated client. Up until this release, you were REQUIRED to download their "manager" which forced players to use p2p torrenting to download their game. With a dwindling playerbase, matchmaking was awful; another reason to add steam users. Daily rewards became lootcrates (hey, more rng mechanics), and store purchased "christmas lootboxes" will be back this winter season to make big bucks off gambling. All in all, play the game if you want to enjoy a relatively niche naval wargame, but I CANNOT RECOMMEND STRONGLY ENOUGH that YOU SHOULD NEVER GIVE WARGAMING ANY OF YOUR MONEY.Show moreShow less

To login with a current World of Warships / Wargaming account: 1. dl the STEAM World of warships client. http://store.steampowered.com/app/552990/ 2. run the application once, when you get to the login screen...DO NOTHING! exit the application completely by hitting the little "X" in the top right hand corner of the window. 3. go to your WoWs folder in STEAM. Example: local disk (C:)>Program Files (x86)>STEAM>steamapps>common>World of Warships 4. In that folder, there will be an application extension file that should be called "steam_api.dll". Right click on that file, click "rename", and put a "2" in front of the name (2steam_api.dll) press "enter. 5. Close folder. Restart your game from STEAM. And now you should have the option to log in with your existing account. credit to Fyrdraca on WoWs forumsShow moreShow less
I am a veteran player on the NA server and will risk my hide. But I need to be an honest gamer. I do love the game. I love collecting ships, playing them. My clan is a little gem with their ups and down. I have 1 nation completed, Germany. USA is all high tier and a Tier 10. Japan one Tier 10 and and few millions credits away from buying the second. While rest high tier. All the other countries are mix and match of low mid tiers. Overall my EU and NA account together worth 4907 battles. Might sound low but it is a respectable number. Pros: Extremely well optimized game. Content and events flowing. Daily free containers. Graphics passes the more then acceptable bar. Sounds effects top notch. Cons: Poor balancements of the ships. Carriers being in a utterly chaos since release. And worse is ahead. (Unrecommanded ship class.) While playable Freenium, get ready to open your wallet. (Disreguard if you believe you can bear with playing entirely free to play, but past tier 6 you will want to go through it as fast as possible.) Premium Ship, while any free ships may destroy them. May prove to power creep low and mid tier. Matchmaking is utterly garbage and often give you the finger. While I made some friends. The community is very unfriendly. (Those who don't need to feel concerned you know yourselves!) Overall while the product is eyecandy, I simply cannot make a general recommendation of thos game. All my colleagues and friends I invited to join and convince to try the game due to how passionate I am, and ended quitting for the cons I've stated. You need to be a fool to dedicate to this game and accepting how Devs does a poor job with the actual gameplay. I am a fool but honest enough to recommand not playing World of Warships until the state of the game regain some quality and sense.Show moreShow less
