+Amazing graphics +Lots of addons(graphic enhancements, sceneries, aircraft, tools, all backwards compatible) +Nice and polished UI +Easily moddable (flyWithlua etc, big modding community, check out forums.x-plane.org) +Awesome physics and realistic aircraft handling +Highly customizable weather, time and aircraft loadout +Updated frequently +The stock airplanes are very high quality +beautiful stock scenery +performance is good, better than FSX and Prepar3d, but not optimal yet (I still get some random framedrops now and then) I rock a 7700k @ 4.6ghz and a 1080 and I get around 60fps on high settings, 30 on ultra) -default weather/clouds looks like ♥♥♥♥ -Sometimes crashes/freezes when loading -Some minor annoying bugs -Default aircraft sounds are OK, not too bad but also not groundbreaking -steam overlay and screenshots do not work by default -poor default ATC ( I recommend Pilot2atc plugin, much better) -no crash log, so no way to find out which plugin crashes your game One note because I see many people complaining about the lack of planes in the stock game, making a simulator is very difficult and takes lots of time, and so does modeling and configuring the aircraft. There are plenty of freeware aircraft in the forums, however for serious realism you will have to pay for aircraft, which were modeled by ambitious groups with more love to detail than in the stock sim. If laminar research was to make the sim and the detailed aircraft, it would take much more effort and time, so I prefer laminar research making the sim basics, and other teams like IXEG making the beautiful aircraft. In my opinion already the new best flight simulator on the market right now, I have played FSX for a long time, but it's just getting too old and clunky. X-Plane 11's graphics looks absolutely astonishing on high settings with some addons like xEnviro and xVision, and there are very helpful tutorials in-game or on youtube for beginners. Some addons I would recommend getting: -ZIBO (modded default 737, adds a ton of realistic features, makes it 1000x better) -rgmod (payware, improves the textures of the zibo 737) -ortho4xp (for photorealistic scenery) -Xenviro / skymaxx pro (better weather/clouds) -x-Life(free traffic plugin)(world traffic is better, but costs money) -Ground handling deluxe (adds ground vehicles, very immersive payware) -124thatc (best integrated ATC so far) -Pilot2atc (best overall atc, payware, but has voice recognition and flightplanner) -fscloud (for casual online flight) -Projectfly (to track and log your flights) -xprealistic (payware, adds effects like camera shake and nice sound effects) -IVAO/VATSIM (for realistic online flight with ATC) -Qsimplanner (performance calculator for several aircraft) -XPuipc and Plan-G (for easy flight planning) -and of course FlyWithLua. Some useful websites are: - forums.x-plane.org (all freeware plugins, sceneries, airplanes) - simheaven.com (amazing scenery) - simbrief.com (in-depth flight briefing/planning) Also a tip for you screenshot-lovers, by installing reshade, the steam overlay and screenshots gets enabled again, HOWEVER moving windows like the map to another monitor by making it a new window does not work anymore then, which is very unfortunate, since I own 2 monitors and really love that function.Show moreShow less
I will keep this short, although I could write a small novel on the 45 hours of frustration I have gathered. X-plane 11 has the potential for a great flight simulator. The graphics are amazing and well optimized, the aircraft physics and mechanics are far beyond what I experienced in FSX, but overall the game has succombed to the microtransaction/payware DLC flare that ruins games for casual gamers like me (who don't have the cash for the numerous plugins which often come with a monthly fee) after having already payed 60$ for the game. The ATC is almost an insult when you compare it to FSX (which is 10 years older). The only plugins/addons which sound like they would come close to making the ATC bearable... payware. The game comes with 9 default planes. It's very easy to download new ones, the first one I downloaded was great, until I couldn't get the FMC to work. Turns out for full features of the aircraft... pay up! I learned a lot about aircraft navigation, setting up my own flight plans etc. Turns out if you want the current Nav data (x-plane 11 is on the airac cycle from 2016)... that's right, payware. Yesterday I thought I'd take a break from all the time I spend trying to tweak the game into a form I can live with and fly my favorite route from norther Norway to Svalbard. When I arrived at the destination their were two airstrips floating in the water. Thought it was a bug, turns out arctic regions aren't implemented in x-plane 11 (apparently to reduce the game size). The only solution? That's right... payware. In conclusion, X-plane 11 is just another symptom of the cancer that the modern gaming industry has become.Show moreShow less

this game is very good don't get me wrong. But one thing that really bothers me is that the game only has a small handfull of actually good planes included in the initial purchase and if you want to get more planes and not crappy freeware ones you have to pay up to $50 for a single plane like that is just redicolius why cant there just be a good amount of planes included in the game without having to spend even more money on this gameShow moreShow less
I'll just make this short : X-Plane 11 is the main reason why i'm now training as a professional pilot after completing my PPL last year. I've always been in love with flight simulations, but XPLANE 11 not only delivers graphic-wise but also is extremely realistic in terms of flight physics. Recreating maneuvers my flight instructor taught me about again and again on XPlane helped tremendously, especially touch and go's and approaches. I can't thank this software enough for what it brought me.Show moreShow less
Would not recommend buying this in 2021. XP12 is coming. XP11 is veeeeeery dated now and it shows.Show moreShow less
As a private pilot with over 1,000 hours in different single-engine airplanes, flying in X-Plane 11 feels more real to me than anything Microsoft has produced to date, including MSFS 2020. Everything, from the authenticity of the airport environments to the way the planes respond in flight, just feels right. If eye candy is what you're after, MSFS 2020 is probably what you want. If, however, you are a pilot or student pilot looking for a great desktop sim that delivers more than just entertainment value, this is it.Show moreShow less
TL-DR: Wait for MSFS-2020 I've had a love/hate relationship with this game since I first played it. The physics and controls were WAY different than FSX (not a surprise, of course). Matter of fact, I actually refunded X-P about a day after I first downloaded it, then reconsidered and was glad I did. Overall it's been fun and a decent product that has provided many hours of enjoyment. However, I've had a lot of issues with it. Installing some DLC, such as planes or airports, is pretty simple, but due to the order in which the DLC is loaded when X-P starts, you may want a special utility that assists in putting the load into the correct order. Downloading and using scenery can be another issue altogether - that's not simple at all. And X-P's load times are a real problem (although admittedly I obviously have no idea what FS's load times will be.) Sometimes I'll start X-P and go get something to drink, check my email, see if it's raining outside, then head back to the PC to find that it just finished loading - and I have a decent near-high end system. And then there's the endless pursuit of that elusive high FPS. Sometimes my FPS has been good, and my flights fine. Sometimes (especially in VR) my flights have been unbearable due to the low FPS. I have tried several of endless combinations of graphics settings and NVidia settings and finally get it right, only to find that with the next beta release, I was back to square one. X-P's scenery is average at best, which pretty much forces you to download 3rd party products. I'll be the first to say I'm not sure if I'll see the detail you see in the FS trailers, but even if it's close, it'll be light-years ahead of X-P. Admittedly, I have no idea if FS and its DLC and load times will be easier/better. But I knew one thing through all of this -- if there had been a better product than X-P available over the last two years, I would have bought it and played it instead. So we'll see. If FS is all it's been hyped to be, then it's so long X-P. If not, then I guess I'll be back. Edit - I wanted to add one other point about X-P, and unfortunately it is not a good one. The ATC in this game is absolutely awful. One big complaint is that the ATC will advise descent to, say, 9K feet. Uh, what about that mountain that has now appeared in front of me? You want me to also change my heading too, right? Nope. I wait for the hole to appear in the mountain, but I haven't seen it yet. The second problem is that for some reason, ATC will tell you to alter your course or descend, then a few SECONDS later, tell you to resume your own navigation. This happens on EVERY flight, so I end up ignoring ATC and landing blind. These and other ATC complaints are well-documented on the X-P forums, and the response from the X-P junkies is to download a 3rd party product and all will be well with the world. Well I shouldn't have to download 3rd party products to FIX what Larimar should have already fixed years ago. Ugh... so you see my love/hate relationship with it, which lately has been more hate.Show moreShow less
I have almost 400 hours in this sim!!!! its simply amazing. I think it is insane how realistic it is, and can't wait for the vulkan update. Also I cant wait to build a rig that can run it in VR. At first I started off with the Cessna 172 and fully learned my way up to the Boeing 747. I didn't have any intrest in aviation before I started playing this sim. After a little while of playing this I knew that I wanted to go deeper into aviation. I did a few test flights in an actual Cessna 172 and was amazed with the similarities with the real world and the sim. now I have 53 hours in my flight log and am hoping to get my commercial liscense one day. :)Show moreShow less
Planes: Great Physics: Great Graphics: Great Sound: Great ATC: Irredeemably bad Realism: Ruined by ATC continuously flying me into a damn mountain Laminar, fix ATC holy crap man. There is no excuse for this horrible AI. It's also maddening having to listen to them tell a glider to ascend OVER AND OVER. IT IS A GLIDER. THEY CAN'T PULL 6000 FEET OUT OF THEIR ASS. I'm leaving this thumb down to bring some attention to the steaming pile of garbage that is ATC. I'll change it to thumb up once they get the ATC to get a thumb out of their own ass.Show moreShow less
