Assassin's Creed IV remaster confirmed for July 2026 release

Ubisoft has officially announced Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Memory Reset, launching July 9, 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. Nintendo's platform is notably absent from the day-one lineup.

The omission is puzzling given that Assassin's Creed Shadows performed well on Switch 2 when it launched in December 2025. Leaker Nash Weedle claims the Switch 2 version will eventually arrive, just not at launch. It's the familiar staggered-release playbook: let console players go first, handheld owners follow later.

Black Flag's naval combat remains one of the series' high points. Sailing the Jackdaw through Caribbean waters, raiding merchant ships—that freedom still holds up. If the remaster delivers on visuals and optimization, it's worth revisiting. The question is whether Ubisoft will bundle in DLC or add new content beyond the graphical upgrade.

Console owners can jump in next July. Switch 2 owners should wait for confirmation—Ubisoft's port quality varies, and a few months won't hurt when you can gauge the launch version's reception first. Now we wait for actual gameplay footage.
